BOTHELL _ Jack Dean, passed away suddenly at his residence in Langley on August 2, 2004.
Born April 16, 1946, in North Vancouver, the son of Jack and Alice Bothell (nee Taylor);
raised in North Vancouver, lived in Chilliwack and in Langley for the past 14 years; he
is survived by his sister Gail (Ian) McNairnay of Armstrong. No service by request.

FAWCETT _ Joan Carole passed away peacefully August 5, 2004, after a couragous battle
with lung cancer at St. James' Cottage Hospice at the age of 68 years. Survived by her
loving family: husband Terry; sons Bob (Sue) and John (Karen); daughter Joanne (John);
grandchildren Christopher, Candace, Devin, Caitlin and Lauren; also many friends and
relatives here and in Winnipeg. No service by request.
FERRARESE _ Luigi, passed away August 4, 2004 at the age of 67 years. She is survived by
his loving and devoted wife, Gemma; sons Dennis (Rita) and Robert; granchildren, Lucas
and Sarah; brothers, Antonio (Caterina), Mario (Regina) in Vancouver; mother, Elisa and
brothers, Cesare (Angelina), Gianni (Franca) all in Italy, and many nieces and nephews
and friends. A special thank you to Dr. Fera and staff at 3 West Wing of Mount St.
Joseph's Hospital. Prayers will be offered Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at 7:30 p. m. from
Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 555 Slocan Street, Vancouver, where the Mass of
Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at 11:00 a. m. Fathers of St.
Charles Celebrant. Interment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park, Burnaby, B.C. In lieu

GILLIS _ Elsie May, passed away peacefully August 5, 2004, at the Delta Hospital at the
age of 85 years. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Harvey in 2002. Elsie will be
lovingly remembered by her son Mitchell and daughter-in-law Kathleen; grandchildren
Teresa, James and Michele of Merritt, and Allan of Calgary; 7 great-grandchildren; other
relatives and close friends. Private arrangements have been made. If desired, donations
in memory of Elsie may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation or the Heart and Stroke

HERRIDGE _ Sharon Arlene (Turner). Sharon passed away in Kelowna after a long illness on
July 30, 2004, at the age of 48. She is survived by her husband Rick; daughter Leah;
parents Jack and Joyce Turner; sister Gloria Scowcroft (Brian); brothers John Turner
(Diane), Allan Turner (Angie); aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Sharon was
born in New Westminster, B.C., on July 22, 1956. She grew up in Coquitlam and spent most
of her life in the Lower Mainland having recently moved to Kelowna. She bravely fought
her illness for many years. Sharon was deeply loved and will be truly missed. She is now
at peace.
JECKEL _ Hugh Max passed away peacefully on August 5, 2004 at Surrey Memorial Hospital
in his 86th year. He is survived by his loving wife Anna of 55 years; son Jim (Sue);
daughter Diane (Don) Liesch; grandchildren Chelan, Jamie (Renee), Jody, James, Karen,
Koby. Shelby; great-grandchildren Ashlin and Aiden. He will also be missed by his
brother Oscar (Olga); in-laws; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Memorial service
will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 12th, 2004 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church,
10330 144 Street, Surrey. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Shantymen and Gideons
would be greatly appreciated.
MANN _ Augustina passed away peacefully at home on August 5, 2004 after a courageous
battle with lung cancer. She is missed by her husband of 50 years, Bill and children,
Joni Schniever (Don) of Kamloops, Randy of Langley, Geni Nolin of Langley, Bill (Cheryl)
of Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan and her grandchildren, Andrew, Megan, Katrina and Emily.
Predeceased by her infant son, James and parents and sisters, Kay, Mary and Eva. She
enjoyed doing all types of needle work, crafts and tole painting but her greatest
passion grew to be golf, which she discovered when she retired from the BC Liquor Board.
A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at Henderson's Funeral
Home in Langley at 10:00 a. m. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Augustina may
be made to Langley Hospice Society, 20088 40A Ave, Langley, B.C. V3A 2Y6 or Canadian
Cancer Society 604-877-1100 would be greatly appreciated.
McLEAN _ Mary "Molly", born October 31, 1932, passed away July 29th, 2004. She leaves
partner Wayne Sampson; 3 sons, Lorne (Lynda), Rodney, Jason; and 2 brothers Bruce and
Norman (Dot) and their families. At her request, she will be cremated with a Memorial to
be held Saturday, August 14th, 2004, at 1:00 pm, at Avalon Funeral Home, 13288 108
Avenue, Surrey. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to BC Cancer Foundation in
Molly's name.
MOIR _ Barbara, 1918 _ 2004. Survived by her daughters Melanie (Ross), Pam (Mike and
grandsons Andrew and Brendan). Passed away peacefully on August 5th, after a lengthy
battle against ALS. She was a great mom and grandmother - we shall miss her dearly,
especially her Sunday dinners. No service at her request. In lieu of flowers, donations
to the ALS Society would be appreciated.
O'BRIEN _ Bernice passed away peacefully at Cottonwoods Care Facility, Kelowna on
Thursday, August 5th, 2004 at the age of 88. She is predeceased by her husband James and
is survived by her son Brett O'Brien (Sharon), two grandchildren: Chad O'Brien (Julie),
Krista Unger (Tim). Bernice was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1916, an only child. She
was married to James O'Brien February 17th, 1940. Bernice was the first woman to enlist
with the Manitoba Womans Army Reserve on July 22nd, 1940. They moved from Winnipeg to
Vancouver in 1960. She became a lifetime member with the Royal Canadian Legion. After
her husband's passing she moved to Kelowna, B.C. October 1994. She will be sadly missed
by her family and friends. No service by her request. Arrangements entrusted to First

PARK _ Florence Elma (Forman) It is with sadness that the family announces the death of
Florence Elma Park (Forman) at Holy Family Hospital on August 3rd, 2004. Beloved wife of
Robert Forman (57 years) and Ian Park (10 Years). G.G will be affectionately remembered
by her children Joan, Gail, Jim, and Ted; step-children Carol and Alan; along with 14
grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many friends at Marpole United Church, where
a family service will be held.
PARLIAMENT _ Gerry. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerry on
July 30, 2004, after a short battle with lung cancer. Beloved husband of 44 years to
Marilyn; loving father to Karen and Ron, Rick and Tracey; cherished Papa to
granddaughters, Lara and Amanda; and step-grandsons, David, John, Wille and Peter.
Brother to Bill (and Candy), Marion Coleman and Babs Dobby; several brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law; uncle to many nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by brother Don of
Edmonton. Gerry will be greatly missed by all of his family and his many friends. A
celebration of Gerry's life will be held at Boal Memorial Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road,
North Vancouver, B.C., on Saturday, August 14th, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers,
donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association in Gerry's name would be appreciated.
PELLATT _ Norman, November 9, 1930 - August 2, 2004. Born in Twickenham, England, passed
away peacefully after a valiant fight with cancer at the Pilgrims Hospice in Margate,
England. Norm is survived by his loving wife Jennifer, daughters Allison and Tracy
(Don), sister Kathleen (Steve) and grandchildren, Josh, John and Katie. Norm came to
Canada in 1951 and eventually settled in Vancouver. After a long career in the airline
industry with Western Airlines and CP Air, he and Jennifer left Vancouver for a few
years of travel. Service to be held Thursday, August 12 at 3:30 pm at Barham Crematorium
near Canterbury, Kent.
ROSE _ Lilian Born 4/17/22, Lil left us to join her dear husband, Fred on 8/4/04. Her
courage, will to live and great sense of humor enabled her to stay with us a while
longer. We were graced with her love and generosity, always finding a safe haven in her
steadfast belief in us. To carry on her spirit are her children, Murray (Carel), John
(Pat), and Margaret; grandchildren, Jennifer, Devin, Coralea, Jason and Kell;
great-grandchildren who will miss Grandma BG are Cody, DaVon and Darrien; other loving
relatives and dear friends will miss her too. The family thanks her dedicated loving
caregivers, Hilary Callihoo, Shelley Crossland, and the staff at Peace Portal Lodge,
where she was in such good hands. Mom cherished you. Thank you Dr. Hainc also. Bless you

SACKVILLE _ Robert Cecil. On Thursday, August 5, Robert Cecil Sackville of Brampton
(born Swift Current, Saskatchewan) passed away peacefully at the age of 78 at the
Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga. Beloved husband for 50 years of Bernice Sackville
(nee Simpson - born Ottawa). He will be sadly missed by his wife. four daughters,
sons-in-law and six grandchildren, Lynn Sackville, husband Nick MacKinnon, Clea and Jake
of Vancouver. Patricia Sackville. husband Basil Hii, Vita and Kai of Vancouver. Carol
Duyvelshoff, husband Frank Duyvelshoff, Christina and Daniel of Oakville. Judy
Sackville-Boyd of Burlington, teacher at Frontenac Public School, Burlington. Friends
will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main Street South (Highway 10), Brampton
on Wednesday, August 11, 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00. Funeral service in the chapel on

GATES _ John Reginald Schmelke John Reginald Schmelke surprised everyone when he was
born 3 1/2 weeks early on July 6, 2004 at 5:13 pm at BC Womens Hospital. Overjoyed
parents Jill and David have been enjoying every minute. Proud grandparents are: John and
Bonnie Schmelke and Heather and Reg Gates. Johnny is also welcomed by his seven cousins,
eight aunts and uncles and two great-grandmothers Majorie Mason and Rose Schmelke. Many
thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses at BC Womens Hospital.

WEIGHTMAN / STEPHENS _ Grandparents George and Doreen Stephens are pleased to announce
the birth of their grandson, Jonah Thomas Gordon Weightman, at Calgary's Rockyview
General Hospital. Jonah was in no hurry to arrive, not putting in an appearance until
6:59 pm, Monday, August 2, 2004. Proud parents of this beautiful little fellow are our
beloved daughter Jennifer and our much-treasured son-in-law, Dave Weightman. Jonah is
blessed to have big brother Andrew at home with him in Calgary and sisters Jennifer and
Samantha a little further south in Montana. Also in Calgary to welcome the newest little
Weightman are Dave's dad, Grandpa Gordon Weightman, and his sister Aunty Alison
Weightman. Here in BC, the rest of Jennifer's family is looking forward to meeting Jonah
during his visit this month, especially Jennifer's brother and family Uncle Dave and
Aunty Jenn Stephens and cousins Jackson and Olivia, plus all of his aunties and uncles
and cousins, particularly Aunty Margaret Stephens, Aunty Barbara Sigerson and cousin
Silas Jonah Pierrot. Dad Dave and Grandma Doreen were mightily impressed with Mom
Jennifer throughout Jonah's birth.
