SAFARIK, Edward John (Eddie)
Born in Vancouver August 15, 1917 passed away peacefully November 28, 2004.
Eddie who was a pioneer in the BC fishing industry is survived by his loving
wife of 59 years, Nita, four sons: Edward (Diana), Gordon (Melissa). Murray
(Patricia), Douglas (Fran); daughter in law Gill; grandchildren: Sarah,
Nicholas, Ashleigh, Paul, Kveta, Alexandra, Bryn, Grant, Jacob, Clayton,
Dylan, Angelina; great grandson De’Andre; brothers Norman and Johnny.
Eddie was a graduate from UBC in arts and commerce, and an officer in the
reserve unit in the Second World War. After graduation he worked in the
family fish business before founding Ocean Fisheries Limited in 1962. He was
inducted into the Fraser River Heritage Society for his contribution to the
fishery on the Fraser River. Eddie was an avid gardener, hacker golfer,
fisherman and storyteller. Papa Eddie will be greatly missed by everyone
whose life he touched. All friends and family are invited to a Service and
Celebration of Life at the UBC Faculty Club (Sage Bistro) on Sunday December
12, 2004 at 2:00p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Children’s Oncology Unit in his name at
Children’s Hospital will be greatly appreciated.
