Brueggemann, Liselotte (Lilo)
Photo
BRUEGGEMANN _ Liselotte (Lilo), gently passed away on February 21st, after a long illness. Born in Germany on March 3, 1914, and a resident of Canada for nearly fifty years, our beautiful and brave "Omi" led her long, extraordinary and honorable life with great integrity, charm, dignity, independence, adventuresomeness, discipline, generosity and hard work, despite of all the deprivations associated with two World Wars, and the challenges of being a single immigrant parent in a country she came to love dearly. 'Omi' was a loving, giving, supportive and fiercely protective mother to her children and grandchildren and always did more than her best to help them out - to go to university, to learn new skills, to consider new philosophies, and to see new places. For these marvelous gifts, all her off-spring love and thank her. Son Hubert Kurz; daughters Kareen Zebroff (Peter) and Malve Slocum-Burns; grandchildren Cheryl Kurz-Knights, Sylvie (Cam Martin), Tanya (Mark Hughes) and P!
etra Zebroff, Eric Slocum (Bridget), Michael (Kerri Booth) and Stephanie Kurz; and great-grandchildren Megan and James Martin and Tashia Hughes (living in Africa). Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation go to the extraordinarily caring and loving staff of both Evergreen Manor in White Rock and Banfield Pavilion in Vancouver. A memorial was held on a boat Friday, April 1st, followed by a scattering of ashes into her beloved ocean.
