SIMISON,
Bruce Mitchell
Passed away peacefully Monday, October 3, 2005 after a brief illness. Bruce
was born in Calgary Alberta in 1926, the third child of John & Ellen
Simison.
Bruce, his older brother Jack and their 3 sisters, Ellen, Nola and Lois were
a tight knit group having lost their parents when they were all quite young.
They lived much of their early life in Victoria, BC. Following the death of
their mother in 1938 they were sent to live with their aunt Lil and her
family in Manitoba.
In 1943 Bruce joined the Canadian Army and served with the Royal Canadian
Engineers as a heavy equipment operator. During his tour of duty he served
overseas in both Germany and Egypt and on several bases here in Canada. In
1958 he transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force having harbored a
passion for aviation since his youth.
In August of 1958 Bruce married Muriel Joan Cramer in Vancouver BC. Bruce
and Muriel transferred around Canada to several different air force bases.
During this time they became the parents to 3 children, son Dana and
daughters Heather and Nola. In 1970 Bruce retired from the air force and he
and Muriel moved their young family to Campbell River, BC.
Dad pursued work in a couple of different fields following his discharge
from the service finally retiring to enjoy the fruits of his labor in 1991.
He and Mom purchased a recreational vehicle and traveled across Canada and
around the province of BC to visit with their children and grand children.
In 1992 they traveled to Scotland and spent a month or so exploring the
countryside and researching the family tree.
In 1994 we lost mom after a 3-year battle with cancer. Dad was at mom’s side

WAGNER,
Karla (nee Killat)
Aug. 9, 1950 - Sept. 27, 2005
Our sweet Karla left us so suddenly, much before her time. Karla was born in
East Berlin to Rudy and Brigitte Killat. She was 10 months old when they
escaped to West Berlin and when she was four years, the Killats immigrated
to Canada, leaving behind, all their family and friends. They eventually
settled in Regina where Karla went to school and on to university to study
education. Karla taught school for several years in Alberta before moving to
Vancouver, where she continued teaching while taking music courses in the
evening at UBC. Karla’s passion for music reflected in her singing and her
piano. She taught music to her many “children” and wrote and produced plays
and musicals for them to perform at concerts and on the Vancouver Carole
ships at Christmas. They loved their “Mrs. Wagner”. She was a very creative
person, always making and doing things for everybody. Karla radiated
sunshine in her smiles and made you feel that you were very special to her.
She loved to golf and go on those ‘Great Walks’ in Tahsis and Lake Cowichan
with her Mom. Karla’s Mom was her best friend and together they traveled
back to their native homeland in 2003, re-uniting with family and friends
and having the time of their lives. Left broken hearted are her parents
Brigitte and Rudi, her sister Pam and brother-in-law Fred, partner Roger,
special friend Debbie in Vancouver, her Tantes and Onkels and cousins in
Germany and her many wonderful friends whom she cherished. Karla affected
many lives and will forever remain in our hearts.
At Karla’s request, there will be no service. Flowers are gratefully
declined but donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
