Deaths (12/08/05)
Lawrence Patrick Lee George On December 5, 2005, long time friend and
resident of Port Alberni, Lawrence Patrick Lee George, "Pat", passed away
suddenly. Pat was born and raised in the Sooke area, it was there that Pat
met Shirley, his loving wife of 46 years. After moving to the Alberni Valley
in 1960, Pat started his M&B logging career. The majority of his logging
career was spent as a hooktender. Pat developed many friendships over his
lifetime in the bush. Known as a quiet prankster, Pat consistently made work
a fun place to be, along with his sidekick Scotty, legends to all who know
them. Was there anyone better at "9 Man Morsis?" One of Pat's pleasures at
work, under his watchful eye, was to let the "young fellows" learn the ropes
and his tricks of the trade. He taught many loggers to think before doing,
sprinkled with a little patience. Besides the enjoyment of his co-workers,
Pat loved all sports, mixed in with a little beer drinking, with his
favorite being ball. The family spent many weekends travelling to ball
tournaments either for himself, the kids or his granddaughter. Known as one
of the top sling shot pitchers in the province in his youth, Pat continued
to play ball until the old logger knees went south. Pat also loved to hunt,
however his real passion was salmon fishing, especially with his boys, Arnie
and Kenny. This love affair continued with his granddaughters, Danielle,
Amber and Jana. The greatest love of Pat's life was being around his family,
either camping, travelling to the Okanagan or Sooke, holiday season or just
visiting. He had a special relationship with all his family. he enjoyed many
dinners at Patti's, he knew he would get his piece of cake and a slice of
pie, and always with an extra piece for the night bite. Pat is survived by
his wife, Shirley; daughter, Patti (Russ); son, Arnie; granddaughters:
Danielle (Chad), Amber (Johnny) and Jana (Nike); and the newest addition his
great-granddaughter, Kayley Dawn; brother, Bob George; sisters, Jean
Whitfored, Karen; along with many more nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and
uncles. Pat was predeceased by his son, Kenny; father and mother, Edward and
Sahra; brothers, Fred and Len; sisters, Deloris and Loretta. Pat, you'll
always hold that special spot in our hearts; soar like the eagles you loved
so much Please join the family in the Celebration of Pat's Life at Yates

Isabel passed away peacefully with the dignity that she deserved and with
her family close at hand. While our parents can no longer sooth us with
their words of wisdom, what we do have is their cremated remains. We will
spread them in accordance with their wishes on the heights of Mt. Arrowsmith
