Crawfrod, Lyle (Lyall)
CRAWFORD, Lyle (Lyall) CPGA Class A Life Professional. It is with great
sadness we announce the sudden passing of Lyle on December 10, 2005, in his
72nd year. He is survived by his wife Jane, his children, many good friends
in Vancouver, Victoria, (Cedar Hill Golf Course) and Kelowna. Lyle loved his
chosen profession and was very proud of his many golfing accomplishments:
representing B.C. on the Willingdon Cup Team; his 2nd place finish in the
Canadian Amateur Open (in a play-off); and a B.C. Open winner. Golf was good
to him and he gladly tried to give back threefold. He was especially proud
of all the young junior golfers that came through his life. Although he was
proud of his golfing career, he cherished most his 2 daughters Tracey (Cam),
Shelley (Pat), grandchildren Olivia and Aydan, and his very special
relationship with Lew (Wendy) and his 3 nephews, Ryan (Claire), Jarvis
(Heidi), Neil (Steph). Lyle loved dogs and they loved him. To his daughters
he gave the gifts of hard work, ethics and patience. He was a kind hearted
and giving man who will be missed by many. We suspect he is organizing a new
golf tournament he'll let you each know the date and tee time. (Cribbage
games to follow). There is no service planned at this time. In lieu of
flowers please donate to the S.P.C.A or donate your time to children in
their sporting endeavors and think of Lyle. Love you lots, till we meet
again. 186794

Lowery, Florence (Memoriam)
LOWRY, Florence May 1, 1920 December 17, 1992 God gave us strength to take
it, Courage to bear the blow But what it meant to lose you, No one will ever
know. They say time heals all sorrow, And helps us to forget, But time so
far has only proved, How much we miss you yet. We think of you in silence,
No eyes can see us weep, But many a silent tear is shed, When others are
asleep. Lovingly remembered, husband Jack & family. 187311

MacSWEEN, Henriette J. (Babs) Born in London, England, September 11, 1916,
Babs passed away peacefully at Glacier View Lodge in Courtenay, with her
family close at hand on December 5, 2005. Babs was 89. She will always be
remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother, full of care and
compassion for those around her. Predeceased by her husband, Donald J.
MacSween, and brother, Harry G. Amodeo, she will be lovingly remembered by
her daughter, Suzanne Crump (Thomas) of Cloverdale, BC, and son, David
MacSween (Robyn) of Comox, BC. She is also survived by grandchildren,

(Jim), Todd MacSween and three great-granddaughters: Tiana, Kassidy and

were not easy for Babs, but never a complaint was heard. Instead she poured
out her love for those around her and was loved back many-fold. After the
death of her mother at the age of three, she was raised by loving and
devoted grandparents in Amiens, France. She returned to England as a young
lady where she finished her schooling and entered the world of work. Her War
years were spent in the middle of London collecting tickets on the buses as
they made their way through the streets of ruin and rubble from Trafalgar
Square to Marble Arch and back again. Shortly after arriving in Victoria in
1946 as a war bride, Babs began a lifelong career with the T. Eaton Company
until her retirement in 1981. After retirement she enjoyed traveling, time
in her garden and many cherished hours with her grandchildren. The family
wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to relatives and friends for their
comfort, prayers and support; and their deepest appreciation to the staff
and volunteers of Glacier View Lodge for their daily demonstration of
compassion, love and devotion throughout the many years she called the Lodge
"Home ". Arrangements entrusted to COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM,

Shergold, Charles
Photo
SHERGOLD, Charles James January 10, 1953 December 13, 2005 It is with deep
and overwhelming sadness that we mourn the passing of Chuck who died
suddenly from a heart attack on December 13th. Predeceased by father Charlie
Shergold last April and by his beautiful daughter Stephanie six weeks ago,
he leaves behind his wife Wendy, mother Hettie Shergold, brother Dave
(Anne), aunt Olive Hays, mother and father-in-law Marge and Art Sutherland,
brothers-in-law John (Gail) and Dave Sutherland (Jeannine), nieces Laura and
Andrea Sutherland, Katie and Sean Shergold, Steph's partner Dan Weatherhead
and numerous relatives in Victoria and Olds, Alberta. Chuck was an
outstanding sportsman, who began an illustrious rugby career at Claremont
School in 1969. He continued with James Bay Athletic Association, playing on
eight provincial championship sides. He was also a stalwart for the Crimson
Tide and BC and further represented Canada on several occasions in 1979-81.
His passion for the game continued after his playing career ended, as he
served with distinction on the JBAA executive. Huddy, Huddy!! Chuck's other
passion was teaching, a career based in Victoria (Cedar Hill, Arbutus and
Reynolds) which also took him and his family as far afield as Grand Forks,
BC and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In 1996 he joined the staff at St. Michaels
University School. He taught History with a particular flair and creativity,
coached rugby at all levels, and directed one of the Boarding Houses. SMUS
was a special place for him, but the school benefited even more from his
balanced, selfless, optimistic, good-humoured approach to life. His razor
sharp wit was appreciated by all, and in every way, he was a superb role
model for colleagues and young people. Chuck had countless friends, whose
company he treasured. He was quite simply as fine a person as anyone could
hope to meet. Most of all, Chuck loved his family. He was a model husband
and father, who devoted his life to his wife and daughter. A celebration of
Chuck's life will take place at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 21 at the
UVIC Auditorium. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to

Williams, Maureen
Photo
WILLIAMS, Maureen May 12, 1950 November 26 2005 With grace and dignity
Maureen carried her cancer burden. Those of us who knew her were in awe of
her unsinkable spirit and touched by a love that always put the needs of
others first. In her last months she was still bowling her average and
contributing to her team as well as planning her return trip to Vegas. We
are glad to have memories of her as an allstar left-handed homerun hitter in
fastball and slowpitch, as a competitive bowler and fearless gambler. Quiet
and shy with great presence Maureen would steal your heart. In her final
years she had great appreciation for the families and staff she met in
palliative care at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver with special
thanks to sister Ina Joseph for devoted care. Predeceased by grandparents
Chuck and Evelyn Thorne and Bert and Ellen Underwood, and brothers Joe and
Doug Underwood. Survived by husband Chief Dick Williams and children Amanda,
Dick Jr., and Ellen; mother-in-law Mavis Williams, parents George and
Geraldine Underwood of Tsawout, and siblings Barry, Steve, Floyd, Kelly,
Jim, Charles, Mavis, Gina, Diana, Lisa, Ina, Rhonda, Verna; special friends
Linda, Eda, and Rose; many relatives, friends, nieces and nephews. It was
Maureen's wish to be cremated and her hope that moments of grief would pass
to moments of laughter in recalling a legacy of humour, love, sage wisdom,
and sportsmanship. 186339
