Clark, John
CLARK, John Grant Thomson Passed away on the 25 December, 2005 at his home
in Victoria after a long, difficult and painful battle with diabetes. Grant
was predeceased by his mother Phoebe Clark (nee Morris) in 1984. He is
survived by his loving father Donald Clark and sister Anne Lynch in Sidney,
BC. Grant was born on 19 January, 1954 in Ottawa, Ontario and moved with the
family to Victoria in June of the same year. He called Victoria home all his
life. Grant had a wonderful sense of 'Pythonesque' humour and always found

his health deteriorated over the years. While we will miss Grant terribly,
we know that he and Mum will be seeing the zany side of every situation
where they are now. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses
who have helped Grant on this difficult journey especially Dr. Colin
Riddler, his family physician. The family would also like to take this
opportunity to thank the wonderful people at the Dialysis Unit at Royal
Jubilee Hospital and the drivers at HandiDart without whom Grant could not
have survived. And to the Victoria City Police who showed such care and
concern for Grant at the end Thank You! In lieu of flowers, donations to the

Crabtree, Diana
CRABTREE, Diana Evelyn Diana passed away in Victoria on December 19, 2005
after a struggle with a rarely seen cancer of the heart. She was born August
30, 1947 in Victoria, BC, only child of Ken and Evelyn Crabtree (now
deceased). She leaves her daughter, Dominique Koffel, close friends,
particularly Natalya and Peter Parsons, godparents, Ron and Nora McCrimmon
of Victoria, and Vicki Simmons of Campbell River. Diana attended Monterey
Elementary, Oak Bay Junior and Oak Bay High School in Victoria. She was
married and worked in Victoria where Dominique was born in 1980. She left
Victoria with Dominique in 1985 to live the rest of her life in Riondel, BC
on the east shore of Kootenay Lake. She remarried there and had a lengthy
career as a real estate agent for Remax of Nelson. She came to love the
outdoor life and beauty of the Kootenays. She was often involved in
community projects, looking after the town garden for many years, was a
founding member of the Board of Directors of the Bluebell Manor Society and
Diana always tried to support local businesses. She loved gardening and her
lovely home. Diana will be remembered for her gentle, friendly laughter and
generosity. Her close friends, especially the Schmidt family and Sheila and
Harry Arnott of Riondel will always remember warm and happy times spent over
the dining table and sharing a glass of good scotch. For many years Diana
lived in Victoria and North Saanich. Many will remember her from the Deep
Cove Chalet where she contributed many years to the running of this fine
restaurant. She was a wonderful, supportive mom who followed her daughter's
travels. Diana encouraged Dom's work and education experiences and was proud
of her daughter as she has grown into a dynamic and beautiful young woman.
Many thanks go out to all the medical personnel who looked after Diana from
the moment she first started this journey: Dr. Malpass of Kootenay Lake
Hospital, the amazing cardiac team at the Jubilee Hospital in Victoria.
Special thanks to Dr. Ofeish, Dr. Andrew Janoff, nurses Cynthia, Sarah and
James, and especially social worker Barb Field whose unfailing understanding
and ability to follow this last journey with Diana and Dominique will never
be forgotten. Thanks also to radiologist Dr. Olivado for his continued care
and help. Another special thank you to the nurses and doctors of the Hospice
at Saanich Peninsula and Dr. Terry Hartrick. A gathering will be held at the
Gallery Room of the Brentwood Lodge on Verdier Avenue of Brentwood Bay, on
