AURINGER, Laureen Inez (nee Kiehlbauch) May 5, 1963 to April 13, 2006
Laureen passed away peacefully at home in the arms of a loved one on April
13, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 42 years.
Predeceased by her father, Roy, in 1983. Laureen is survived by Brian, her
loving husband and best friend of 23 years. Lovingly cherished and forever
remembered by her son Lee; her daughters' Jamie and Ricki. Born in Edson,
Alberta on May 5, 1963, Laureen came to Vancouver Island with her husband
Brian in 1990. Laureen enjoyed spending time with her family camping,
boating and spending her summers at the cabin at Lake Cowichan with her
kids, family and friends. She loved to curl in the winter. She loved
Christmas and all the family traditions that went with it. Laureen loved
life and all the people in it. We were the lucky ones to have known her, now
God is lucky because he has a special Angel. Laureen will be sorely missed
by her sisters Marcie and Gwen; her brother David and her mother Morrene;
Brian's parents Al and Sylvia as well as sister-in-law Sheryl and many other
relatives and friends, and her dog Dusty. Special thanks to the Palliative
Care Nurses at Hospice. A Celebration of Laureen's life will be held at
Church of the Advent, 510 Mt. View Avenue, Victoria, BC at 2:00 pm on April
22, 2006 with a reception to follow in the Church Hall. A donation would be

BURFORD, Lilian Grace (Kate) Passed away peacefully on April 16, 2006 at the
Royal Jubilee Hospital. Kate was born in London, England and has been a
resident of Victoria for over 35 years. Pre-deceased by her beloved husband
Walter, brothers Cyril and Hap, sisters Marjie, Vid and Doris. Kate is
survived by her loving daughter Hazel (Ray) Colley, grandchildren Michael
Colley and Joanna (Rod) Mar, and great-grandson Brandon Mar, sister-inlaw
Eve, nieces Patsy (Gordie) and Susan (Gordon) and their families in
Victoria. Brothers Ron and Wil, sister Evelyn in England. Kate worked at
Woodward's for over twenty years. She was a kind, generous, loving person
and had many friends. She was a member of the OES Queen City Chapter #5.
Kate will be sadly missed by all especially by her good friend Sadie. A

CONTI, Dariol Solo Darol Conti born in Granby on Vancouver Island January
25, 1924, died Good Friday, April 14, 2006. Predeceased by his father Bert
in a coal mine explosion April 6, 1926; mother Pierina 1959, son Christopher
1993. Champion soccer player winner U-19 Provincial Cup 1942 with St. Louis
College, Victoria. Served his country in the Royal Canadian Navy WWII, post
war met his beloved Gwynneth Rigby and they were married August 25, 1947 St.
Augustine's, Vancouver. A devoted son, husband, father, grandfather a
tireless provider for his family. Worked in the glass and window industry in
Vancouver for Bogardus-Wilson; and Custom Glass. Moved to Kamloops in 1961
and started Kamloops Glass Ltd. and Kam Seal Manufacturing. He served 9
years on the Board of Directors, Royal Inland Hospital and gave to the
community and his church. He was a longtime Rotarian and served in many
other organizations. Family was the most important thing in Darol's life.
Never hesitating to help others in need. His crowning glory were his
grandchildren, they were the future and he loved them with all his heart.
Survived by his wife Gwynneth, sons Gerald (Lye Fun), Daniel, Nicolle of
Victoria; Mark (Donna), Justin, Christina and Chantal of Kamloops; daughter
Patricia (David) of Vancouver; as well as his extended family in the United
States and Europe. Also remembered by a very special friend of the Conti
family, Denis Simpson. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on
Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help

FOSTER, Robert Ernest (Ernie) Born Sept. 5, 1921 in Victoria passed away in
his sleep April 15, 2006. Predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Jean. Ernie
resided at Broadmead Lodge for the past 5 years. Survived by sons, Bob
(Angela), Brian (Lisa) and daughter, Christine; five grandchildren, Courtney
and Cristian Foster, Enika, William and Richard Hubbard. Also survived by
sister Elsie (Stu) Hamilton of North Vancouver. Ernie had many happy
memories of growing up in View Royal. Dad retired with 30 years service at
HMCS Dockyard Ship Repair Unit. In retirement, he enjoyed time with family
and friends around their pool. His loves also included fishing and many car
trips across Canada. A special thanks to the staff at Broadmead, whose
compassion and dedicated care is greatly appreciated. A graveside service
will be held at Hatley Memorial Gardens 2050 Sooke Road at 11:00 am Friday,

HARRISON, Richard (Rick) Stanley Passed away April 6, 2006 at the age of 72.
Lovingly remembered by daughters Julie Bileski of Vanderhoof, Janice Silver
of White Rock, and Laura (Mel) Vander Hoek of Castelgar, brother Barry
(Joan) Harrison of Richmond, and eight grandchildren. Predeceased by his
loving partner Peggy Griffin. Rick and Peggy enjoyed many travel adventures
together, seeing much of the world. Rick's sense of fun and adventure
endeared him to him many friends and acquaintences. After his extensive
travels, Rick was more than content to settle into his beautiful
surroundings on the Saanich Peninsula. Rick was an active member of the
YM/YWCA, Sidney Stamp Club, Sidney Single Seniors, and the Gators Club and
was a retired member of the C.G.A. Association of BC. He was involved in
Conair Aviation from its inception in his role as accountant. A private
service for friends and family was held. In lieu of flowers donations

HAY, Stanley Watt April 19th 1927 April 15th 2006 It is with great sadness
we announce the passing of Stan at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria on
April 15th 2006. He is remembered with much love and affection by Jean, his
wife of 57 years and son Roger(Shannon) and brother Ian and family and other
family and friends. Stan had a distinguished career in the R.C.N. for many
years, serving on two aircraft carriers in WW II and finally retiring from
the service in the 1960's. His final retirement was to Qualicum Beach where
he joined the Memorial Golf Club and enjoyed many years of happy golfing
with his friends. He loved animals, particularly his little dog "Penny " his
buddy for many years. We shall all miss him. As they say in the Navy "the
old chief has finally crossed over the river " Cremation no service by
request. Stan's ashes will be interred in Qualicum Beach Cemetary on Monday
24th April at 2p.m. There will be a small graveside ceremony with a Piper in

HENDERSON, Ronald George August 3, 1920 April 11, 2006 After a long struggle
with heart disease, Ron was admitted to Saanich Peninsula Hospital, where he
died a few days later. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Wynne,
children, Graham (Marie) and Lorna, and grandchildren, Jon, Kyr, Jeffery,
Roddy, Carley and Jeremy. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he was raised and
educated in England where he joined the RAF at the outbreak of WWII. He
served His Majesty overseas for 6 years. After the war, he returned to
Canada with Wynne who remained at his side for 62 years until his death. At
the age of 16 Ron was presented to the Late King George VI of England as a
King's Scout. His love for the Boy Scout movement continued in Canada for 27
years. First, as a loved and respected Scout Master and later, as a Rover
Crew leader. Ron was a life member of Exemplar Lodge #175 AF and AM GRA and
formerly a member of Patricia Lodge #91 in Edmonton. He became a charter
member of Exemplar when three fellow members proposed the formation of the
Lodge. A few years later he was installed Master. Among those who mourn his
loss is longtime friend and lodge brother, WOR. Bro. Bob Day. As well, he
was past patron of Edmonton Chapter #19 OES. He was employed in the
Telecommunications industry from the age of 16 until his retirement in 1982,
whereupon he moved to BC, coming to Vancouver Island in 1986. The family
wishes to express their thanks to the medical and nursing staff of Saanich
Peninsula Hospital for their expert and compassionate round the clock care.
Particular thanks to Doctors Alex Moffoot, Larry Smith and Pat Walsh for
their exceptional care over the years. Special thanks lately to Dr. George
Spencer and all of the Associated Physicians. Thank you also to Rev. Glenn
Sim of St. Mary's Anglican Church for his many years of spiritual guidance
and tireless devotion. A celebration of Ron's life will be held at a later

HIPWELL, Ernest C. (MAJ. ret'd) Passed away suddenly, April 12 at age 85. He
leaves to mourn his daughter Jane A. Miller (Rowlan), his grandson Eric

LECH, Margaret Evelyn (nee Fletcher) November 3, 1919 April 17, 2006 Beloved
mother, grandmother and friend. Gone to be with Jesus, Easter Monday April

LEIPER, James James Leiper passed away peacefully April 10, 2006 in Prince
George BC. Born in Victoria July 15,1926 to James and Mary Leiper,
predeceased by both parents and brothers Archie and Charlie. He is survived
by sister Margaret Lewis, sister-in-law Judy Lambie, children Susan Madsen
(Denis), Anne Lee (Mike), Michael (Monica Griffin), their mother Lucy,
grandchildren Sam, Jim and Steve Madsen, Dan Lee, Emily Leiper, wife Mary
(nee Brar) and her daughters Raji and Devi (Mark) as well as numerous other
relatives in Canada and Scotland. A memorial celebrating his life will be
held Thursday, April 27, 2pm at the Prince George Royal Canadian Legion. In

LINTAMAN, Murray Gordon Born March 16, 1956. Passed away April 17, 2006
after a valiant battle with melanoma. Predeceased by parents Gloria and
Gordon and recently by his Nanna Ann Stokes. Murray leaves a tremendous void
in the lives of his sons, Derek and Dylan, his partner Krista Todd, brother
and sister-in-law Pat and Sheila, their children Dan and Myra, aunts,
cousins, common-law in-laws", numerous friends and his bulldogs Priscilla
and Bubba-Lou. Murray worked for BCTel/Telus for 30 years, until his illness
made him unable to. He loved his boys, his Harley, trapshooting and camping
with his dearest friends Orton and Deb Ker, Rick and Debbie Morgan and the
rest of the Point Ideal crew. Krista would like to thank Reg and Fran Todd,
Dr Johnny-Boy" MacPherson, HCC nurses Vicky and Diane and all of the people
at Telus for their help and support over the last few months. In lieu of

MacDONALD, John (Ian) September 4, 1925 April 18, 2006 It is with great
sadness that the family of John MacDonald announces the passing of this
quiet, dignified man. John passed away peacefully in his sleep after a
lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family. He will be missed by the
light of his life" and best friend of 55 years, Helen, who provided so much
love and care during their lives together, but especially so in the last
eighteen months. John is survived by his wife Helen, daughters Sandra
Dayton, Arlene (Brian) Roberts, sons Don (Janice) MacDonald, Jack (Julie)
MacDonald, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Also, sister
Marion Green of Victoria and numerous nieces and nephews in Victoria,
Alberta and California. John was predeceased by his parents Donald and Jesse
MacDonald of Victoria and older brother Alistair of Santa Rosa, California.
John led a full and enjoyable life having much to celebrate despite the last
couple of years of declining health. The family would like to express their
deep gratitude to the nurses on the 4th floor South of the Victoria General
Hospital for being so kind and caring in the care of John in his last days.
Also, Dr. Peter Sherk of VGH and Dr. George Wray, John's family physician,
who provided such wonderful and compassionate medical care for John and were
so supportive to the family. At Dad's request, a memorial service will be
held at the First Memorial Funeral Home, 4725 Falaise Drive, on Friday April
21 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John's name to
St. Vincent De Paul Society or a charity of their choice. REST IN PEACE

MARTINS, Fernando Passed away on April 15, 2006 in Victoria, B.C. after a
courageous battle with cancer. Fernando's spirit of generosity and sense of
humour will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 41 years, Margarida.
Survived by his wife Margarida; daughter Ana-Paula (Ian); sons David (Sonja)
and Nelson; grandchildren Marisa, Taya, and Kane. Fernando was "Amigo" to

McCONDACH, Gladys Marie September 28, 1933 April 15, 2006 It is with sadness
that the family announces the peaceful passing of Gladys McCondach at her
home on April 15, 2006. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 50
years, Bruce; 3 sisters, Mildred Baldwin (Ken), Frances Johnson (Ray) and
Shirley Kerr; 2 brothers, Richard Romman (Doreen) and Laurie Romman,
deceased (Louise); brother-in-law Bob McCondach (Helen) and many nieces,
nephews and friends. Gladys worked for the Saskatchewan Transportation
Company in 1960 and in 1969 moved to Victoria and continued her career with
BC Ferries as private secretary to the General Manager retiring in 1991.
Gladys and Bruce loved to travel and they spent many hours on the road in
their R.V. A memorial tea will be held in the Holly Room at First Memorial
Funeral Services, 1155 Fort Street, on Thursday, April 20 from 11:00 A.M to

NUTTGENS, Michael Christopher August 6, 1928 April 17, 2006 Michael passed
away peacefully surrounded by his beloved wife, Frances and loving family on
Monday, April 17, 2006, in his home, after a long hard fought battle with
cancer. He was born on August 6, 1928 in Princes Risborough,
Buckinghamshire, England. Survived by his sons, Paul, Peter and Simon
(Nicola), his daughters, Susan (Dale Pike) and Fran (Ken Stefanson), and
extended family, Rob Cochran, Marilyn Thomas (Graham Hollingdrake) and
Violet Henderson (Francis Joe) and their families. Also survived by his
brothers and sisters, Joan (Harry), Anne (Christopher), Joe (Pamela), Susan,
Gregory (Maggie), Damien (Jackie), Margaret (Colin), Johnny, Barbara
(Kevin), Alice, and sister-in-law Biddie and other relatives and friends.

OWEN, David Moore Born in Saco, Maine on September 2, 1924. Passed away at
the Saanich Peninsula Hospital on April 11, 2006. Survived by his loving
wife, Helen Owen, by his sisters-in-law, JoAnn Outerbridge of Brentwood Bay,
B.C. and Margaret Owen of Washington, U.S.A., his nieces Catherine (Al)
Major of Oregon, Constance Owen and Laurie Owen, both of Washington, U.S.A.,
their children and grandchildren. David was predeceased by his brother,
Richard Owen. During WW2, David served aboard a warship as a radar operator.
He then worked as an oceanographer at the Woods Hole Oceanographic
Institution in Massachusetts until his retirement. During his career, he
worked as a deep sea photographer and was the first person to take a picture
of the ocean floor a mile deep showing a starfish, later published in Life
Magazine. He was a good friend of Jacques Yves Cousteau and worked with him
to introduce the Aqualung to the U.S.A. David was perhaps the only diver who
ever had a heart attack while working 100 feet down in the ocean. He later
wrote an article for Skindiver Magazine entitled "Heart Attack at 100 Feet!
". David also wrote a book entitled "A Manual for Free Divers Using
Compressed Air ". A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22,
2006 at 2:00PM at the Brentwood United Church in Brentwood Bay. Anyone

SANDERS, Ernest Clayton Ernest (Ernie/Sluff) Clayton Sanders, born in
Vancouver on October 29, 1929, passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospice on
April 15, 2006 with his good friend, Jenny, by his side. He was predeceased
by his mother, Doreen and brother Richard and wife Cathy and will be missed
by his son, Christopher, many nieces and nephews and friends he has made
through his life: his Lion Club family, Legion and ANAF Club. Ernie lived
most of his life in Victoria and he sold newspapers, worked at Coastal
Marine Service Ships, was a salesman, laborer, pipe layer, gas fitter, flag
man, delivering phone books and many more jobs. Ernie enjoyed traveling with
Jenny and was an avid volunteer. He joined the Lions Club of Oak Bay and was
awarded a Judge Brian Steven Award by the Lions. He was a member of the
Public Service Legion in James Bay and a member of the Army, Navy and Air
Force Club in Victoria. He had been going to Luther Court Day Program where
he made many friends and he also attended exercise classes at Cedar Hill
Rec. Centre with the Parkinson Group. A celebration of Ernies's life will be
held at First Memorial Chapel, 1155 Fort Street on Friday, April 21 at 11:00
A.M. with a reception to follow in the Holly Room. Flowers gratefully

SCYRUP, Astrid Fay April 05,1943 April 18,2006. Fay passed away peacefully
with her family by her side, after a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
She is survived by her loving husband Glen, her children: Kevin (Darleen),

SHELESTYNSKI, Wayne Suddenly on April 15, 2006 we lost our loving son,
brother, uncle, nephew and friend. Wayne Shelestynski, passed away
peacefully leaving behind his mother Theresa Shelestynski, brother Dean
Shelestynski, sister-in-law Patti, niece Annie, nephew Nicholas, sister
Penny and brother-in-law Reg Rogers, all of Victoria, B.C. He was 44 years
old. Wayne had numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends from across the
country that will miss him. Growing up in Gladstone, Manitoba he loved the
outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and golf. He could always make you
laugh. We will miss you Wayne. Rest peacefully. The family will be holding a

April 13,2006 at the age of 82 yrs. Josy will be lovingly remembered by her
husband of 62 years Arthur and her daughter Sheree, sister Odette (Bill),
brother Max, many nieces and nephews. Her sister Jackie and her son Bruce
predeceased her. Josy spent her younger years growing up in Vancouver. She
was working for Canadian Pacific Ferry where she met her future husband
Arthur. After they were married Arthur served overseas, as it was wartime. A
few years after the war Josy went commercial fishing with Arthur. They spent
many years traveling up and down the west coast searching for the elusive
salmon. Once they decided to have children they decided she would stay at
home caring for her family with love. They lived in Victoria, and once their
children were done school they moved to Vancouver where Arthur had his fish
brokerage business. They retired in 1986 and moved to Qualicum Beach. Josy
was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, legion branch #76 in Qualicum Beach.
She really enjoyed supporting the legion, as she was a regular at the
Saturday afternoon meat draws. She also loved to play Keno. A celebration of
Josy's life will be held Saturday, April 22 2006, at 2:00 at the Qualicum
Beach Legion. Cremation arrangements entrusted to First Memorial. 231851

WATSON, Sidney Ernest Sid passed away on April 15, 2006 at the age of 94,
predeceased by his wife Emily in October 2005. He will be lovingly
remembered by his brother Frank (Nell), children Frank, Mike (Judy), Dave
(Marion), Kathy (Paul), numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great
grandchildren and countless friends. Special thanks to the staff at

WEBSTER, Ruth Lotte Elise On Good Friday, April 14, 2006 at Sunrise Assisted
Living, Ruth Webster entered into rest surrounded by her loving family and
close friends. She was predeceased by her husband Sydney Webster in 2004 and
her sister Ellen in 1975. She is lovingly remembered by her nieces and
nephews. Ruth contributed to her community by volunteering her time in
Toronto with the Toronto Symphony and Opera Company, as well as with the
Royal British Columbia Museum in Victoria, B.C. A memorial service will be
held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2006 at First Memorial Funeral
Chapel, 1155 Fort Street, Victoria. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers,

WRIGHT, Helen Elizabeth 1932 2006 HOME FOR EASTER! It is with sadness we
announce the "home going" of Helen, on Good Friday, April 14, 2006. Helen
was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, October 23, 1932 and lived in Ontario
and Quebec before coming to B.C. in 1950. Predeceased by her parents, Rev.
Earnest Wright and Annetta Wright; brothers, Gordon and Charles. She leaves
to mourn her passing, a sister, Marion (Gordon Luney) and several nieces and
nephews in Canada and the U.S. Marion wishes to thank all of Helen's friends
and acquaintances for their many kindnesses to her over the years. A special
thanks also to the staff of Central Park Lodge. A private Family interment
will precede a Service of Remembrance in MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson
and Vancouver Streets, on Friday, April 21st at 3:00 p.m. the Reverend Laura
Kavanagh officiating, followed by a reception in the Family Centre. Flowers
