BOND, Harry Miller Passed away on April 24th in Victoria. Born in Ontario,
he lived in Regina until retiring to Victoria in 1970. He was predeceased by
his wife, Alice in 1982. He is survived by his daughter Carol Jeffries
(Terry), son Stuart Bond (Gay), four grandchildren, Curtis Bladon, Ian
Bladon, Kelly Bond, Shannon Bond and five great grandchildren. He taught
Machine Shop at Balfour Technical High School in Regina from the time it
opened in 1930 until he retired in 1966. Mr. Bond will be remembered by the
many students whose lives he touched. A tribute by the students on his
retirement echoes our thoughts. "Somehow the school won't seem quite the
same without Mr. Bond, but it will be the better for his presence here".
Harry stayed active and involved during his fourty years of retirement. In
particular he enjoyed working with Camosun College, his church, and filling
grocery orders for shut-ins (most of whom were much younger than him) at the
James Bay Thrifty Foods Sendial program. He voluntarily gave up his driver's
license at age 95 but remained physically active until approximately two
years ago when age finally started to catch up with him. He enjoyed, with
great delight, his 100th birthday party on April 8, 2006 surrounded by
family, friends, and former students. The family would like to thank the
staff at Central Park Lodge, Glenwarren for their care and devotion to him.
It meant a great deal to him and also to his son and daughter who both
reside out of province. Passing quietly away to join his much missed Alice,
a life well lived" To respect his wishes, there will be no funeral service.
Donations may be made in honour of his life, to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation. 234947
