BUTTERS, Jacqueline Teresa _ At 6:05 pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 passed a
fine and dignified spirit. Jacqueline Teresa Butters died surrounded by
family at Lions Gate Hospital in her 88th year. Our mother lived her death
as she lived her life; with strength, with pride and with self-possession.
She was predeceased by husband Tommy and survived by five children; Nan,
Lowell, Brian, Ian and Tamara; spouses Giuseppe, Lise, Pamela and Douglas;
grandchildren Jake, Sara, Cameron, Valerie, Lindsay, Lauren, Katja, Liam,
Tessa and Luke and great-grandchildren Christopher and Ethan. Jacquie
Butters was a born and raised resident of British Columbia. Born in
Vancouver in 1918, she spent her childhood living on Dunbar Street before
graduating from UBC in 1942. In her youth, she was a professional singer and
a committed member of Vancouver's artistic community. Married in 1942, she
and Tommy were West Vancouver pioneers in the immediate post-war period,
building a showcase home on Bellevue Avenue before venturing into the
Interior in 1960. They spent several years in Kamloops before Jacquie took
the radical step (for the time and place) of returning to UBC to take a
Masters degree in Education in 1964. This led to a long and rewarding career
as a counsellor at Camosun College before retiring to West Vancouver in
1988. After her husband's death in 1990, Jacquie devoted a great deal of
energy to her grandchildren, the University Women's Club, the CNIB and the
Catholic Church. She became fully computer literate in her mid-80s and took
great pleasure in staying up to date with the world via the C.B.C. The
family would like to recognize and applaud caregiver Bonnie Munn for all of
her very valuable and much appreciated support of Jacquie over the years. As
well, Jennifer and the other professional and compassionate staff at Lions
Gate Hospital's Palliative Care Unit made Mother's passing graceful and
comfortable. For this and for all, we are very grateful. Funeral Mass will
be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 1 at St. Anthony's Church, 2337
Inglewood Avenue, West Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations to the
Canadian National Institute for the Blind will be greatly appreciated.

It is with solemn hearts that the family of "Uncle Bud" wish to announce his
passing in Vancouver, BC. Survived by beloved brother Don and sister-in-law
Audree Medhurst of Calgary, Alberta, sister-in-law Phyllis and extended
family. Predeceased by beloved parents Arthie and Charles (Fred), one
brother Neil and nephew Bryan. Cherished Uncle to Janice (James) Hensley;
Anna-Jean (Bud) Olson; Joan (John) Hotchkiss; Jill (Brian) Tivadar; Judy
(Allan) Spangler and much-adored Great-Uncle to Andra (Robroy), Andrew,
Marissa (Chester), Stephen, Katie, Allison, Matthew, Nick, Lauren, Donald,
Jillian and Sam Charles Fredrick. Bud also leaves cherished friends Dave and
Norma Burns. Born in Foremost, AB Bud chose Engineering as a profession and
graduated from the University of Alberta in 1940. That same year, he began a
four-year service overseas as a member of the Royal Canadian Engineers.
Returning home, Bud was fortunate to experience all types of work including
tunnel construction projects in Burnaby, BC, and the Shaughnessey tunnel for
the CP Rail Rogers Pass project as a Senior Engineer with Stewart-EBA
Consulting. Bud enjoyed all visits and was welcoming with a handsome smile
to anyone wanting to stop by. He loved taking drives by the Spanish Banks
and Point Grey areas, and enjoying an ice cream while watching the ocean.
Valiantly fighting cancer for years, Bud's illness was just one of many
challenges he faced with characteristic tenacity and sense of humour.
Notwithstanding serious injury to his back in 1952, he was determined to
remain independent and active in his Kitsilano area home for over 50 years.
He is remembered for the long walks he would take in the area, and later
from the close-by O'Keefe that became his new residence. Thank-you to all
that cared for him especially nurse Annie, and all the dear health workers
including Sanni. The tireless attention of all his friends in his last and
challenging weeks is treasured. And a special thank-you to Marissa. The
distinctive care she gave her Great-Uncle spoke both to the condition of
Bud's charming demeanour and the quality of her own character. We will be
seeing you, Uncle Bud, in all the familiar old places. "Right oh!"

(Memoriam)
LINDSAY ANNE TENNANT December 13, 1980 - April 29, 2005 This day is
remembered and quietly kept, No words are needed, we will never forget.
Silent thoughts, tears unseen, wishing your absence was only a dream. Today,
tomorrow, our whole lives through, we will always love and remember you. We
will never understand why we had to part, Your pain was eased, but it broke
our hearts. Each morning when we wake, we know that you are gone, A thousand
words won't bring you back - we know because we've tried Neither will a
million tears - we know because we've cried. When we are sad and broken and
everything goes wrong, We seem to hear you whisper don't give up - but carry
on. Within our hearts we will always keep a special place for you, And try
to do the best in life despite the bitterness of losing you. Forever loved
and deeply missed by your family.

WILKINSON _ Micheline 1950 - 2006 Micheline passed away April 21, 2006 after
a 6 year battle with cancer. She will be loved and remembered by her sons
Michael, Robert, Marc and daughter-in-law Tamara. Micheline will be missed
by her extended family in Quebec, Alberta and B.C. Most of all, she will be
missed by her husband of 32 years, Murray. Micheline had a great passion for
life and lived it fully, at work, school and play. As she traveled through a
life too short she made many friends and left each with a memory of a
special person. One of her passions was gardening and everyone who visited
her home commented on the beauty of her gardens. Her greatest accomplishment
was raising her family and instilling her values of hard work, integrity and
kindness. If those values can pass on from generation to generation she
accomplished the greatest goal a person can achieve. A celebration of
Micheline's life will be held at 1:00 PM May 6, 2006 in the Floral Hall at
Van Dusen Gardens, 5251 Oak Street. Though Micheline loved flowers, a
donation in her memory to the BC Cancer Society to fight ovarian cancer
would be what Micheline would want.

YIP _ Roy Wing September 23, 1919 - April 22, 2006 PIONEER, BUSINESSMAN,
GENTLEMAN Passed away peacefully at the Prince George Regional Hospital.
Growing up in the Wing Sang building located in Vancouver, Chinatown during
the depression era and working long hours at the fish cannery as a teenager
shaped Roy's work ethic and sparked an ambition to succeed in life. Roy's
first encounter as a businessman was as a young adult when transporting
(peddling) produce up the Caribou highway to Barkerville to sell, but the
local merchants did not buy their produce so they decided to open a small
store in Wells, BC. A short while later Roy went to the University of
Washington and graduated in 1944 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering,
achieving his goal of becoming an engineer. Unfortunately, due to working in
the United States (US), while in school, Roy was barred from entering the US
to work in his chosen profession. In 1945 Roy married his wife, Kay and
three years later moved to Prince George, where he opened a small grocery
store and named it Royal Produce. On average, after the grand opening of the
number one store, Roy and family opened up a new store every two years,
until reaching a total of 14 stores. In the late 70s, Roy and his brothers
sold the Royal Produce stores. Roy then entered retirement as a full time
real estate agent, working for Ron Carson Realty Ltd., a new role and hobby
which he thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks to the boys at Ron Carson for their
camaraderie. Roy's strong drive to run a successful business quickly spilled
over to other theatres of his life; supporting and providing advice to
family members; assisting the community and helping individuals and families
during hard times by giving them credit to buy food. Wherever Roy went, he
always sported a tie and blazer, projecting a polished and professional
image. Many people in Prince George will remember Roy as a quiet, humble and
modest man. Roy would not have it any other way. Whenever Roy signed a
greeting or birthday card, he would write the following words: "long life,
prosperity and happiness". Roy achieved all three. Roy was a lifetime member
and past President of the Prince George Lions Club, past President of the
Chinese Benevolent Society, past President of The Downtown Parking
Commission, involved with the Prince George Senior Citizen Housing Committee
and a great supporter of other community projects. Special thanks to the
hospital staff at the internal medicine unit at the Prince George Regional
Hospital for assisting Roy in his time of need; to the staff at Simon Fraser
Lodge for tending to Roy during his time there and to Roy's family doctors
and Northern Healthcare staff for their caring consideration. Roy will be
sadly missed by his loving wife, Kay, his daughter Brenda, his sons Doug
(Kathleen), Byron (Liping), his 8 grandchildren, Kim, Kris (Shenda),
Julianne, Jennifer, Kayla, Nicole, Zach and Ty; his great-grandchildren
Keiren and Aidan. In addition to his immediate family, Roy is survived by
his sisters Irene, Eunice, Audrey and predeceased by his sister Connie and
brothers, Peter, Fred and Don. Funeral services will be held in Prince
George on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 282
Gillett Street and at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial St., Burnaby,
on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at 1:30 pm. Burial to follow in Ocean View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations to the Spirit of the North
Healthcare Foundation, 1475 Edmonton St., Prince George, BC V2M 1S2
Condolences to the family may be sent to
Vancouver Sun and The Province on 4/28/2006.
