BRYANT, Freda On May 22, 2006 a week short of her 99th birthday. Freda was
along time resident of Victoria, for many years she worked for the
Provincial Government. Predeceased by her husband William. She is survived
by her sons, Andrew (Vonnie) and Ross (Cathy), grandchildren Chris (Laura),
Morley (Todd), Kimberly (Nicholas), Kim and Jenny as well as 6 great
grandchildren. The family appreciates the kind care she received from
Greenwoods and Dr. Reznick. No service by request. 249498

HILDEBRAND, Hilda Marie August 29th,1923 May 23rd, 2006 It is with great
sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother,
greatgrandmother and sister Hilda Hildebrand who passed away peacefully in
her sleep at Victoria Hospice May 23, 2006. Hilda was born in Arcola
Saskatchewan on August 29th, 1923. She is predeceased by her husband Bill
and her grandson Darren. She leaves to mourn her loving sons Jerry (Mary),
Kathy, Kris, Keli; Ron, Alanna, Danielle, Ryan, Doug (Maureen), Sybil; and
eight great grandchildren, sister Elsie (George), sisters-in-law Francis,
Marie and Angel, brothers-in-law Frank (Louise) and John. Mom devoted her
life to raising her children. Her home was her palace where she enjoyed
cooking up perogies, pancakes and cabbage rolls. Family was her focus in
life. Her children and grandchildren benefitted from her guidance, warmth,
wit and wisdom and owe much of their success in their lives to her. The
Hildebrand family would like to thank the Vancouver Health Authority and
Hospice for their love, kindness and professional dedication to our mother.
A memorial service will be held in honour of our mother on Saturday, June
3rd at 2:00 P.M. at First Memorial Funeral Home, 4725 Falaise Drive,
Victoria , B.C. In lieu of flowers, should friends and family so desire, a
donation may be made to the Victoria Hospice Society. 248761

HUTCHINSON, Roy Alexander Born at Massbank, Saskatchewan on July 19th, 1917
~ passed away in Victoria, British Columbia on May 24th, 2006. Son of Ellen
Scarrow and Henry Hutchinson. He grew up and attended school in Massbank,
Sask. During some of the 1930's, he lived in the Leoville and Red Deer Hill
areas of Sask. In 1939 he took employment with Natural Sodium Products at
Bishopric, Sask. On Nov. 9th, 1941, he married Bernice Sullivan of Expanse
and Bishopric, Sask. He joined the Royal Canadian Army at Regina in May
1942. He trained at Regina and Maple Creek in Sask. and at Red Deer, Alb.
with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corp. He served in England, France,
Holland, Belgium and Germany with the 3rd Canadian Division. He was part of
the D Day Invasion of Normandy. Was with the occupation force at cessation
of hostilities. Returned to Regina on January 1st, 1946 and took his
discharge in February 1946. He then returned to work at Bishopric and was
there from March 1946 to January 1950. At this time, he moved to Grindrod,
BC, where he farmed and worked for the BC Department of Highways. In
November 1957, he moved to Victoria, BC and took employment as a
longshoreman. He was a member of the International Longshoremen's and
Warehousemen's Union Local No. 504. Roy was also a member of the Royal
Canadian Legion, Britannia Branch No. 7, in Victoria, BC. Roy is survived by
a sister, Agnes Falk of Olds, Alberta as well as many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his wife, Bernice; his parents, Henry and Ellen; nine
brothers, John, Oscar, Robert, Lloyd, Milton, Leslie, Charles, Clarence and
George; and six sisters, Laura, Pearl, Gladlys, Lucy, Edith and Luella. A
Funeral Service will be held at the Sands Funeral Chapel, 'Memorial Chapel
of Chimes', 1803 Quadra Street, Victoria, BC on Wednesday, May 31st, 2006 at
1:00 pm with a reception to follow in the Arbor Reception Centre of the
Funeral Home. Visitation will take place one hour prior to service.

KENDREW, Marguerite Ellen July 22, 1912 May 16, 2006 Marguerite passed away
peacefully on a sunny afternoon at Mount St. Mary Hospital with her son and
her best friend at her side. She is survived by her only son, John (Mary)
and her good friend and companion, Pam Dickinson. Marguerite was born in
Toronto, married in 1940 and moved to Sooke in 1947. She was Secretary
/Treasurer of the nascent Sooke and District Credit Union in the 1950's. She
moved to Victoria in 1971 after the death of her beloved husband, Frank
(1969). Many thanks to the staff of Harmony House at Mount Saint Mary for
the compassion, kindness and caring that made her passing a peaceful time. A
memorial service will be held on Friday, June 02 at 2:00pm at First Memorial
Funeral Service, 4725 Falaise Drive, with a reception to follow. 248586

MANAREY, Jack Andrew November 9, 1923 May 23, 2006 It is with great sadness
that Jack's family announces his passing on May 23 in the Jubilee Hospital
with his family and friends by his side. Predeceased by his one sister,
Yvonnne and her husband Edward, sisters-in-law, Edith and Olive,
brother-in-law Leon. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Louise
and their son Casey (Wendy) of Vancouver, children Coleen, Marleen (Harold)
and Court, sisters-in-law, Gladys (Peter), Jean (Calvin), brothers-in-law,
Bert (Mary), Kenneth (Eleanor), Glenn (Marilyn), Garry (Mary) and many
nieces and nephews. Jack was so proud to be a grandfather and great
grandfather. Jack Andrew Manarey was born in Calgary. The family moved to
Vancouver when Jack was four. After graduation, Jack served 10 years as
disciplinarian with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He enjoyed many years in
car sales and service completing his working years with the Corp of
Commissionaires in Victoria. For the past 20 years Jack has been a member of
the Royal Canadian Legion Britannia Branch #7. His love of travel, shared by
Louise, took them to England and Europe, tenting to Alaska and enjoying
their motor home trips throughout B.C., the Prairies and across Canada. Jack
was an avid sports fan. He took an active interest in all Casey's hockey,
baseball, and track and field events. He spent many summers coaching Little
League Baseball. During his retirement years Jack amassed an astounding
repertoire of sports trivia. Jack will be remembered for his keen interest
in people, his loyalty to family and friends, and his quick-witted sense of
humour. A special thank you to Dr. Faulkner who was Jack's physician for 32
years, and to the Doctors and Nurses at the Royal Jubilee for their kindness
and care. A Memorial Service will be held in Victoria on Monday, May 29 at
11:00 am at the First Memorial Funeral Chapel at 1155 Fort Street with a
reception to follow. Jack will be interned at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens. In
lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be
gratefully appreciated. Gatherings of families dear to Jack will take place
in Edmonton, Alberta and Dodsland, Saskatchewan at a later date. 248800

MURFITT, Peter D. Passed away peacefully on May 14, 2006 with Lori & his
family at his side. He will be sadly missed by his parents, Rex and Ruth
Murfitt, his brother Fred (Jolanda), sister Wendy, nephew Brian Frank and
his loving soul mate Lori Higgins. Pete had a lifetime love of trees and
wood eventually creating furniture, garden architecture and barns. Often
using lumber from trees he felled and milled on a series of portable
electric-driven sawmills he designed and built himself. Pete was presented
with the Award of Excellence from the BC Arts Council in 1991 for his unique
axe creation. Our Peter will be sadly missed by his many friends in Cowichan

PAGE, Clenore Alma (Kit) Born in Grand Meadow, Minnesota on November 8,
1915. Passed away on Friday, May 26, 2006 at Berwick House. Predeceased by
her loving husband of 65 years, Brian. Lovingly remembered by her son, Denis
(Janet); her 3 granddaughters, Karin (Charles) Cutrara of Mississauga,
Ontario, Cynthia (Fabian) Rodriguez of Houston, Texas and Sharon
(Christopher) Heersping of Windsor, Connecticut; 6 great-grandchildren,
Alexander and Gregory Cutrara, Madeleine and Samantha Rodriguez and Grace
and Charlotte Heersping. The family would like to thank the caring and

PERRERA, Pierre Pierre was born in Tunisia on December 1, 1921 and passed
away on May 26, 2006. Dad leaves his beloved daughters Madeliene, Pamela
(Norm), Marjorie (Andre), Tania (Keith), his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. We will miss you, Our Dad, Our Beloved Pop. He has gone
to be with his beloved wife who has been waiting for him for 6 months, our
Mom Therese. No service will be held, but a celebration of his life will be
held at 3950 Columbine Way on Sunday, May 28, 2006. In lieu of flowers,

ROBERTSON, John Ross (Jack) Jack was born in Springwater, Saskatchewan on
November 13, 1919, leaving us on April 24, 2006 with many precious memories.
Jack enjoyed life to the fullest, he had a happy childhood, he worked hard
and he played hard. Growing up in the Depression Era made him a very
versatile person. He came to B.C. in 1938, joining the armed forces in 1939
and serving in Germany and Italy spending the last sixteen months of the war
a P.O.W. On his return to B.C. he worked for C. J. McDowell for 32 years,
retiring in 1978 at age 59 to pursue his many hobbies. He was never idle, he
liked to travel, fish, curl but golfing was his life, learning the game from
his father at age 7 and played his last game at age 86. He is lovingly
remembered by his wife Veril, step-son Bob (Brenda), three
step-grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. Brothers Wally
(Louise) and Douglas, cousins Mary and Anne, numerous nieces and nephews,
special friends Ivor and Marion, Bill, Beth. Jack was predeceased by his
parents, brothers Jim and Bob. His greatest wish was for his ashes to be
sent home to Springwater to be with his granddad. A Memorial Tea will be
held in the Recreation Centre in Summergate on June 11 from 2-4. In lieu of
flowers or cards please give a donation to Saanich Peninsula Hospital in

SMITH, Vera Olive Born in Victoria, BC August 19, 1915 passed away Tuesday,
May 23, 2006. Vera was the daughter of the late Charles E. Waller and
Elizabeth A. Waller also natives of Victoria, BC. She was predeceased by her
first husband Ronald J. Chant in 1975 and her second husband Manley S. Smith
in 1981. Her only sister, Dorothy E. Waller in 1978 and her only brother
James (Jimmy) Waller in 1973. She is survived by her dearly beloved niece
and her husband, Susan and Tom Craig, of Cobble Hill, BC and a loved
great-nephew, Rick Williams (Angela). Vera had many friends in Victoria,
Wales and Australia. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and a
charter member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority formed in Victoria October 1941.
Memorial Service will be held in First Baptist Church, 877 North Park
Street, Victoria, B.C. on Monday, May 29, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Flowers

TAYLOR, Harry Rideout 1927 2006 Harry passed away on May 19th after a ten
year battle with cancer. He was born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia,
and graduated from Teacher's College in Truro. He moved to Ucluelet, B.C. in
1946 where he met and married Norine Lange in 1953. He worked in the logging
industry in Ucluelet for 32 years. Harry retired in 1985, when they moved to
Qualicum Beach. He was a member of the Masons, Manoah Lodge in Tofino, an
avid curler and a Toronto Maple Leaf fan. Predeceased by his only son Bill
and his parents Henry and Lydia, he leaves to mourn; his wife of 53 years,
Norine, daughters Beverly (Chris) and Valerie; two grandchildren Brooke and
Leif; sister Ruth (Ken Wadden); brother Tod (Helen), and many nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Biglow, Oceanside
Hospice, and the many kind staff who provided home care services to make his
last days comfortable. Cremation no service at Harry's request. If one
wishes to make a donation in Harry's memory to Oceanside Hospice Society,
