CLARKE _ Essie "Mae" (nee Broad) Born in Vancouver, November 26th, 1921 and
passed away August 27th, 2006 at the Delta Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Predeceased by her husband John P Clarke in 1992. Mae will be sadly missed
by her sister Bonnie Hydes, nieces Julie, Janice and Ann. A special thanks

CLEARY _ Barbara of Surrey passed away peacefully August 27, 2006 at the age
of 68 years. Barbara is lovingly remembered by her family, daughters, Debra
(Gordon) Boisvert, Patty (Regan) Lee, granddaughters Chelsey and Alyssa Lee,
and her ex-husband Jim Cleary. Memorial Tea will be held on Sunday,
September 3, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Orchard's Clubhouse 16233 82 Avenue,
Surrey. If desired donations may be made to the BC Heart and Stroke
Foundation in Barbara's memory.

CRUICKSHANK _ Frank Kirton July 9, 1959 - August 29, 2006 It is with great
sadness that we announce the passing of Frank. Predeceased by his mother
Connie and father Frank. Frank will be sadly missed by his wife Mariam
Shama, daughter Samantha, brother Alec (Cathy) Cruickshank (Corene, Ryan and
son Joshua, Katie and James), sister Karen (Jim) Dousett (Hayden, Wesley and
Alexandra), sister Jackie (Harry) Cruickshank (Liam and Andrew), stepmother
Shirley Canaday and stepsister Jodi Canaday (Larissa). In-laws: Nanny Shama,
Tom (Afsheen) Shama (Cheyenne), Slim (Eva) Shama, Sheila Markel (Alan)
Candace (Megan), Bob Shama (Joey) and many other relatives and friends. He
was known for his tough exterior, "hard as nails but soft as a teddy bear".
Frank will be remembered for his compassion, his kindness, and his awesome
sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A
celebration of Frank's life will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at
1:00 p.m. at Tynehead Community Hall, 9568 - 168th Street, Surrey. In lieu
of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

GABEL _ Herbert Richard (Gumby), born February 13, 1928 at Vancouver General
Hospital, passed away on August 23, 2006 following a lengthy illness.
Predeceased by his parents, all of his 11 brothers and sisters and
granddaughter Lisa Ann. Loving and missing him are his devoted wife of 58
years, Doreen; daughter Ann Cardus (Larry); 2 sons, Bill (Debbie); and John
(Cynthia); 4 grandchildren: Anthony Wonneberger (Penny), Kristi, Scott
(Danielle) and Tara Hultin (Ron); 5 great-grandchildren: Paige, Harley,
Morgan, Emily and Taylor and many loving family members and cherished
friends. Gumby spent over 50 years working in the forest industry and
retired from Nova Lumber (Tolko) and was a member of IWA 217. He loved
traveling in his motorhome and then camper and truck, visiting friends,
playing cards, hockey, family get togethers, suspenders, Tim Hortons and all
of his little sweethearts. Thank you to Dr. Bentz and all the nursing staff
at Ridge-Meadows Hospital in Emergency and 2 West. Missing you Gumby. See
you later alligator. A Memorial Service to celebrate Gumby's life will be
held on Saturday, September 2 at 11:00 am at the Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel,
11969 - 216th Street. In lieu of flowers, donations to the B.C. Heart &
Stroke Foundation or B.C. Lung Association would be appreciated.

HALL _ Marilyn Ruth (nee Sandstrom). It is with great sadness that we
announce the unexpected passing of our daughter, mother, grandmother and
friend. Marilyn was born in Oliver, BC on March 29, 1948 and passed away on
August 24, 2006 after a brief illness. Our mom was predeceased by her sister
Darlene, and her father Erne. She is survived by her mother Helen, longtime
partner George Lesjak, separated husband and good friend Howard, son Richard
(Michelle), daughter Charlene (Denny) Guemos, grandchildren Krystal,
Samantha, Rykki, Dion, Darian, nieces, nephews, cousins and many good
friends. Her extended family included the many patients and acquaintances
she grew to know through working with Dr. Wong at Kensington Plaza for over
35 years. Marilyn will always be remembered for the help she would give
whenever asked, no matter how big the job. She has touched many hearts
throughout her short time with us. You will be missed by many and will
always be in our hearts. Thanks to all the doctors and staff that helped her
through her treatments, especially Dr. Evans and Dr. Laskin. Service to be
held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak, on Tuesday, September 5th
at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Foundation would be

HAMSON _ Myrtle (nee Long), passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 27,
2006 at the age of 82. predeceased by her husband Jack, she is survived by
her 2 daughters Karen (Eric) and Anne (Ben) and her son Michael (Barbie),
five grandchildren Jordan, Kyle, Sarah (Gerdi), Shauna and Adam. She was
born in Preeceville, Saskatchewan in 1924 and came to Vancouver in 1943 to
attend her sister Phyllis's wedding. In 1946 she met her future husband,
Jack, at a Lacrosse dance in Richmond, which became her home for close to 50
years. After Jack's death, she moved to Surrey to be closer to her children
and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and remembered as a loving
mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. A memorial service will be held on
Sunday, September 3, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Valley View Funeral Home, 14660 72nd
Ave., Surrey. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Union Gospel Mission will
be appreciated.

KEARNEY _ Catherine (nee Duffy), 85. Passed away peacefully at her home in
Burnaby on Sunday, August 20, 2006. She was the first of four children born
in Mullagharve, District of Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, Ireland on
August 20, 1921 to James and Bridget (Donohue) Duffy. She was predeceased in
death by her husband John Joseph in 1988 and brother James in 1988.
Surviving are her sons John James, of Phoenix, Arizona; Allan Gerard, Noel
Patrick (Donna), of Courtney, British Columbia; daughters Sheila Mary,
Sharon Mary (Michael), brother Thomas Ignasius, of Cleveland, Ohio;
grandchildren Brenna Colleen, Maighdlin Mary-Catherine, John Patrick Morgan
and niece Jennifer Denise. A Funeral Mass in Catherine's honour will be held
on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic
Church, 555 Slocan Street, Vancouver. Fathers of St. Charles celebrant.
Catherine will be dearly missed but she will always be near us; in the
brightness day and darkest night. And in future, whenever we feel a soft
cool breeze, we will know that it is her spirit that touched us. Memorial
donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association in Catherine's

KITE _ Robert George (Bob) It is with great sadness that we announce the the
passing of Bob Kite on August 27, 2006 at Langley Memorial Hospital. A
wonderful husband, father and grandfather, Bob will be missed by Joyce
(loving wife of 49 years), daughter Sharon Grice, son David (wife April) and
3 grandchildren Melissa, Christie and Rob Grice. Also missing Bob will be
brother-in-law Jack and Irene McGeorge, Carol and Bob O'Connor, Ken Grice,
many close friends and nieces and nephews. Bob Kite was highly respected in
the printing and packaging industry. He spent 45 successful years at what
became Lawson Mardon Packaging finishing his career with ten years at Tapp
Technologies. Bob was also a supporter of the Performing Arts and on
numerous occasions became a wonderful Santa Claus. He played a great game of
cribbage and even achieved a perfect crib hand last year. Bob excelled at
mostly everything that he did and beat the odds often. Sadly, he didn't
manage to beat the odds with brain cancer; however, he fought a courageous
battle right up until the end. Those who knew Bob, knew him to be kind and
always very generous. He was the kind of person people aspire to be and
touched many people with his personality and heart. His passing is a great
loss. A celebration of his life will be held this Thursday, August 31st at
3:00pm at his family home.

KLETT _ Jeffrey (Jeff) Grant It is with great sadness that we announce the
passing of Jeffrey (Jeff) Grant Klett on August 29, 2006 at the age of 43.
Jeff passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a valiant
9 month battle with cancer. Predeceased by his mother Leila (2005), survived
by his loving wife Roberta, twin daughters Paige and Lindsay, father Morris,
sister Vicki (Darrell) Krell, brothers Wayne and Warren (Celia) and many
other family and friends. Jeff found such pleasure being with his friends
playing hockey, softball or golf and was such a role model for the kind,
loving man he was. There was nothing more important than being with his
family especially with his three girls. Special thanks to the wonderful
Fraser Health Home Team Care Nurses that made it possible to fulfill Jeff's
wishes to carry out his last days with his family and friends at home. As
per Jeff's wishes, donations can be made to his daughters in trust to any
HSBC Branch account number 280-086733-203. A celebration of Jeff's life will
take place on Friday, September 1, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at Valley View Funeral

MacKinnon _ George Frederick Crazy George to those who knew him passed away
in hospice on Sunday, August 27th, 2006 leaving behind Susan his life
partner and best friend of 23 years. George fought an unbelievably
courageous seven year battle with cancer. His extreme passion for life and
all it had to offer was known to all who knew him. Best known for his
artistic abilities, George made a name for himself as a respected custom
painter, pinstriper and sign artist. He gave all of himself to his craft and
was an inspiration to others in his field. George was a risk taker who
enjoyed putting himself out there always welcoming new adventures and
challenges in life. He was passionate about so many things including driving
his recently completed Model A to as many events as possible and was an avid
motorcyclist for most of his life. George wil1 be remembered as a very
loving compassionate person who continually strived to be the best that he
could be. He possessed an incredible internal strength that taught us if you
set your mind to something you can achieve success. Private arrangements are
being made for a gathering to celebrate George's life. If friends wish, a

Murray, David
MURRAY _ David passed away peacefully on August 25, 2006 at George Derby
Centre. He was born in Wigton, England on September 1, 1919. Predeceased by
his loving partner and soul mate Evelyn Wingrove, his brother Frank Murray
and his sister Janet Corness. Lovingly remembered by sister-in-law Pearl
Murray, many nieces and nephews and their families, and his partners
children and their families. David served in WW2 as a gunner with the 3rd
MED. Regiment RCA. He spent the majority of his working life on or around
the water and ended his career at B.C. Packers, Richmond, B.C. One of
David's hobbies was playing the guitar and listening to country music. After
retirement he enjoyed traveling with family and friends. The family wishes
to thank Dr. Froese and the staff at George Derby Centre for their loving
care. Graveside service to be held on Friday, September 1, 2006 at 11:00
A.M. at the Valleyview Cemetery, 14660 - 72nd Ave., Surrey, B.C.

Neil, William Norman (Bill)
NEIL _ William (Bill) Norman December 5th, 1944 - August 27th, 2006 It is
with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband,
father and true friend. He is survived by his wife Helen, son Steve
(Jacquie), daughter Barb (Wayne); grandchildren Mitchell, Carson, Chelsea,
Lindsay and Trent; his sister Alice (Olle); his nieces and nephews and their
families. Bill's generous nature and wonderful sense of humour will be
remembered by all those whose lives he touched. Bill was a dedicated 43 year
member of the IUOE LOCAL 115. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at
the Operating Engineers' Hall at 4333 Ledger Avenue on Wednesday, September
6th at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Bill's name
to the Diabetes Association or the Rick Hansen Foundation.

PUSELJA _ Nikola passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 87
years of age. Survived by his loving wife Marie; son Stephen (Lily);
daughters Laura (Kevin) and Barbara; grandchildren Nikolas, Genna, Dianne;
and many friends. He worked in Ocean Falls and Fraser Mills, retiring to
enjoy time travelling, fishing, gardening, and with his family. Special
thanks to family physician, Dr. J. Fyfe, and also to the staff at Crossroads
Hospice in Port Moody. A Private Family Service will be held at 10:30 am on
Friday, September 1, 2006 at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church,

wonderful husband, father, grandfather and a true friend to many. Pat passed
away on August 29th, 2006 at the age of 78. He will be sadly missed by wife

Snowball, John (Jack)
SNOWBALL _ JOHN (Jack) EDWARD Born Calgary January 12, 1926 - August 26,
2006 Vancouver. Although he was born on the prairies, Jack quickly became a
West Coast man upon entering UBC for his engineering degree. Vancouver was
where he met Joyce, his loving wife of 55 years. Shortly after graduation in
Civil Engineering, Jack co-founded a successful engineering firm (Mackenzie,
Snowball & Skalbania), which over the years did the engineering design for
many of Vancouver's current buildings. During that time Jack and Joyce
raised a family in North Vancouver Kathy (Doug), Ken (Marian) and Stuart and
took to heart the skiing, golfing and boating opportunities available in
this great city. He was a long time member of the West Vancouver Yacht Club
and sailing was a large part of his life. Retirement was a great time for
the two of them as they travelled extensively. Their six grandchildren
(Darcy, Tyler, Nicole, Martin, Patrick and Katrina) shared many good times
and boat trips together. A memorial service will be held at St. Catherine's
Anglican Church 1058 Ridgewood Drive, North Vancouver on August 31 at 2:00
PM. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully acknowledged to the Lions
Gate Hospital Foundation.

SOUIN _ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved
"PAPA", Father, Husband and Grandfather, Edmund Hrant. Peacefully in his
71st year at St. Paul's Hospital Vancouver, British Columbia, after a
courageous battle with heart disease, predeceased by his first wife
Jacqueline (nee Ouzounian). He will be sadly missed by his wife Ayda of
Vancouver, B. C. Anita and Zak Nouri, of Toronto, Ontario, Rev. Father
Shnork and Yn. Julie Souin of Dennville New Jersey, and Brigitte and Kamer
Karakas of Vancouver B. C. He leaves his legacy behind in his grandchildren
who will miss their "Papa" a lot, Zachary and Maral, Toronto, Nicholas,
Conner and Elizabeth, New Jersey, Dikran and Jacqueline, Vancouver and his
special grandchildren Nyiri and Aram of Vancouver. His kindness, honesty and
love of his Church and Family will never be forgotten. Funeral Services will

Vancouver on Thursday, August 31 at 12:00 p.m.

30, 2006 in Queens Park Care Centre, New Westminster. Survived by his loving

TSENG _ Moo Lin, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2006 at the age of 90.
Survived by her two sons and four daughters; John (Lilly), Peter (Helen),
May (Mundsen), Julie (Timothy), Susan (Jo) and Linda (William); 11
grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a

Western, Robert David "Robbie" (Memoriam)
