ALLARD _ Cheryl Anne (nee Schaufert) After an 18 month battle with cancer,
Cheryl passed away peacefully, with her husband and children at her side, on
the morning of Sunday October 15, 2006 at the MSA Hospital. Cheryl was born
March 2, 1948 in Abbotsford, BC, where she continued to live for most of her
life, raising her children, and working for over 18 years at Lilydale.
Cheryl was a gentle and kind woman, quick to laugh, and always ready to help
a friend. A loving mother, wife, grandmother and friend, Cheryl will be
greatly missed. After many years at Lilydale, Cheryl will no longer be
calling out the time. Cheryl leaves behind her mother, Margaret, and
stepfather, Al Yaworski; her three brothers, Ronald, Gary, Dennis, and their
families; loving husband, Michael Allard, and the Allard family in England;
son, Kenneth, and partner, Jolene; daughter, Keri, and husband Dwayne;
grandchildren, Ashlyn and Markus. A celebration of Cheryl's life will be
held at the Ramada Inn and Conference Center in Abbotsford on Thursday,
October, 19th between 4pm and 8pm. Memorial donations may be made to the BC

Filmmaker, Musician, Writer, Poet, Artist, Comedian, Son, Brother and

BARDACH _ (nee Parson) Barbara Ann, born February 5, 1930, passed away
suddenly October 10, 2006. Survived by her devoted husband Norman, loving
sons Tony and Michael, by her granddaughter Alexa, and by her brother Floyd
and sister Rosemary and by her large extended family of nieces and nephews.
Barbara was an avid swimmer and scuba-diver who grew up in West Vancouver,
where she was born and attended Pauline Johnson School. She loved to play
the piano and would practice difficult passages for hours at a time to get
them right. She was also a skilled and talented painter. Her first love was
a horse named Gypsy, her second and everlasting love was for her husband
Norman, and later her sons to whom she dedicated her life. She will be
missed greatly by all who had the fortune to know her. Friends and family
are invited to attend a memorial service for Barbara on Sunday, October 22,
2006 at 2:00 pm from St. Francis-in-The-Wood Anglican Church, 4773 Picadilly
South, West Vancouver.

BEATCH _ Norbert. Norbert was born in Cutknife, Sask on June 23, 1924 and
passed away peacefully on October 14, 2006 in Abbotsford, BC. He will be
lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Elaine of 54 years and their
children; Mary (Edward Carter), Kathleen (Christopher Hinton), Timothy,
Kenneth (Menna), John Gerard, Joanne (Nicholas Soullie), Gregory (Cindy),
Gerald Beaudry and Janice Attle and 19 grandchildren. He is also survived by
his brothers Ralph (Bea), Charles (Darlene), Walter (Pauline) Wilmer (Margo)
and one sister Mae (Ralph) and their families. He was predeceased by his
brothers, Omer (Bernice) and Clarence (Kay). Norbert and Elaine lived in
Cloverdale for 18 years and then resided on Vancouver Island for 35 years,
returning to the Mainland in November 2005. Norbert was a veteran serving
his country during WWII, retired from teaching at the age of 58, actively
served his church and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Frank Landry on Thursday, October
19th at 1:00 pm at St. Ann's Church, 33333 Mayfair St. Abbotsford. In lieu
of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Association, or the B.C.
Schizophrenia Society would be appreciated.

BELL _ Dr. David John, B.Sc.,DC February 7, 1953 - October 18, 2006 David
passed away peacefully at home with his loving family at his side after a
courageous battle with cancer. David is survived by his true soul mate and
devoted wife of 29 years Mary Anne; daughters Alisha and Kristen (Mark);
mother Marvel and sisters Judi (Jerry) and Laurie (Ron). He was predeceased
by his father Jack. David was a loving husband and an incredibly supportive
and proud father. A constant family man, his dedication and commitment to
his wife and daughters was unsurpassable. He was a true inspiration as a
Doctor, mentor and friend. He loved life and never let his cancer hold him
back from living it to the fullest. He enjoyed his many travels around the
world and especially looked forward to his annual chiropractic fishing trip
with "the boys" and Christmas in Mexico. David graduated with his Bachelor
of Science at SFU and in 1980 received his doctorate at the Canadian
Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. He gave back to the profession by
serving on the Ethics & Discipline and Examination Boards of the BCCA. He
will be remembered for his passion, integrity, healing touch and gentle
manner. David was a highly respected Doctor of Chiropractic who practiced in
New Westminster for 26 years. Known as the "Rock Doc", he was the requested
Chiropractor for many of the leading concerts over the years. Special thanks
to Reverend Joyce Tarvin, Dr. D. Freedman, Dr. R. Granger, the Fraser Health
nurses, Delta Home Support Services and our supportive family, friends and
patients. He will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held
Saturday, October 21, 2006 at Cariboo Hill Temple, 7195 Cariboo Road,
Burnaby at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in David's

BOWERING _ Phyllis Born April 15, 1917, passed away October 16th, 2006.
Predeceased by her husband, Howard. She will be missed and remembered by her
long time friends Bernie, Bev and family; cousin Irene and family. Special

BROWN _ Lillian Born in Kingston, Ontario on January 17, 1908 and passed
away peacefully at Burnaby Hospital on October 15, 2006 at age 98 years.
Predeceased by son Albert of Port Alberni. Lovingly survived by daughter
Joan (Len), son Ron (Marlene); 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and
3 great-great-grandchildren. Celebration of life will be held at the Garden
Village Church, 4950 Barker Cres., Burnaby, BC V5G 3G5 on Saturday, October
21, 2006 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lillian's

DesBRISAY _ Lawrence Edward "Ed" Passed away peacefully in Nanaimo, BC
October 16, 2006 at the age of 93. He was predeceased by his wife Hilda in
2001. Lovingly remembered by his children Ed (Judy) and Maryalice (Terry)
Crosby. Four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Ed was raised in
Vancouver, BC and retired as Battalion Chief after 31 years with Vancouver
Fire Dept. No service or flowers at Ed's request. He was dearly loved and
appreciated. We will hold him in our hearts forever.

DiGUISTINI _ (Gillis) Grace Arlene, born October 8, 1918 in Yarmouth, Maine,
USA, passed away in the arms of her daughter October 14, 2006. Grace was the
second daughter of Frank and Alice Simonds and spent her childhood and early
adult years with her family in McBride, Quik, Smithers, Haysport, Usk and
Prince Rupert, BC. Her later years were spent in Vancouver, BC. She spent 20
years working at the Canadian Fish Plant retiring at age 65. She is
predeceased by her eldest sister Pearl Campbell, eldest brother Carl
Simonds, her husbands Angus Gillis and Marino DiGuistini. She will be missed
by her beloved children, Loring (John) Gillis, Rita Pawliuk (Steve), William
DiGuistini (Cathy) and Randy DiGuistini; her grandchildren Wesley Pawliuk,
Wendy Cail, Cybil and Scott DiGuistini; Kristian, Nicholas and Joseph and
Erik DiGuistini, Sophie Gillis, Christine Bowes (Glen) and Jason (Lori)
Gillis; her great-grandchildren Nathan and Stephanie Cail, Graham Gillis,
Chelsey and Cameron; her sisters Elva Cravens and Janet McIntyre and brother
Bob Simonds and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations to the
Fair Haven United Church Homes would be greatly appreciated. Funeral to be

Regency Care Home. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her

FILMER _ Norman John December 19, 1931 - October. 2, 2006 Norman passed away
peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital on October 2, 2006. He will be greatly
missed by Huguette, his dear wife of 29 years, son Stephen and fiancee
Laurie Raymond, his step-daughter Suzanne, sister Kathleen, nephews Paul and
Lodge, niece April, and by all who knew him. He taught at Richmond High
School for 30 years and after retirement, he volunteered at the Vancouver
Aquarium, again teaching young students as he loved to do. A memorial
service will be held at Boal Chapel on Thursday, October 26th, 2006 at
2:00pm, 1505 Lillooet Rd, North Vancouver. We will remember him forever. In
lieu of flowers, donations made to the Cancer Society would be greatly
appreciated.

FRASER _ Janet Mamie It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful
passing of Janet on October 14th, 2006. Loving wife of 55 years to Art.
Mother to Steven (predeceased), Susan (Mark), Doug (predeceased) and Dara
(Andrew). Proud Grandma to Andrew, Brandon, Melissa, Stephanie, Dylan,
Benjamin and Kathryn. Big sister to Scott (Grace), Susan and Stuart (Joann),
with many loving family members too numerous to name. Mom loved hanging out
at the lot with the gang and had many good friends. She will be missed
greatly. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, October 23rd, 2006

GOEBEL _ Charles Edgar, born on November 22, 1921 in Spruce Grove, Alberta,
passed away peacefully on October 16, 2006 in Prince George, BC. He is
predeceased by his wife Irene Elisabeth in 1992. Charles is survived by
children; Dennis, James, Raejoan, John, Trina, Teresa, 13 grandchildren, and
14 great grandchildren. Charles was an officer in the RCAF during WWII.

12:30pm, in the Avalon Surrey Funeral Home, 13288 - 108th Avenue, Surrey,

HAMILTON _ Lloyd Clayton November 17, 1923 - October 16, 2006 Beloved
husband, father, grandfather and "More" Grandpa, went peacefully to be with
the Lord, surrounded by the love of his family. He was special in every way.
A devoted, loving husband and best friend to Eileen for 61 years. An amazing
Dad always there for his family. Survived by children Janice (Warren), Danny
(Julie) and Lorraine (Ray), 6 grandchildren Lisa (Steve), Kathy (Brian),
Kerri (Olav), Lori, Cindy (Tim) and Greg. A "More Grandpa" to 9 great
grandchildren - the added "blessings" of his life, Parker, Lucas, Shelby,
Hunter, Ethan, Oliver, Kailee, Nathan and Noah. Also survived by sister
Hazel Collisson,, brother-in-law Roy Scott and many nieces and nephews.
Lloyd was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. He joined the family business,
"F.N. Plumbing & Heating" in 1938 until retirement in 1968. He served in the
RCAF for 3 years, stationed in Alberta at RR #10 depot in Calgary, serving
as an airframe mechanic. Lloyd was always known as a gracious,
compassionate, caring man. A person of integrity and gifted with a creative
flair to fix and design anything. The family would like to thank Dr. J.
Rogerson, Dr. James, Dr. Learner and all the hospitalists, Delta Hospital
staff and Beach Grove Residence staff, for all their special care to Lloyd.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 10:30 am,
Ladner Baptist Church, 5624 Ladner Trunk Rd, Ladner, BC, Reception to

HICKS _ Roy, born January 18, 1933, passed away peacefully on October 15,
2006 with his family by his side. He will be greatly missed by his loving

JOHNSON _ Suddenly, on Friday, October 13, 2006, Kevin Frank Johnson
currently of Edmonton Alberta died in his 39th year. Beloved son of Dina,
step son of Don Salter of Coquitlam BC. Loving brother of Deborah Johnson
and step sister Margaret Salter. Kevin will also be forever remembered and
sadly missed by many family members: Aunts and Uncles, Benny and Karin, and
Kjeld and Birthe. Cousins Mark, Glen, Linda (Nicholas + Cole), Brian
(Susan), Cari and Kevin's girlfriend Linda Beaton. Kevin's passion was the
outdoors enjoying every weekend at the lake, he will be greatly missed by
his numerous friends. The Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday,
October 24, 2006 at the Danish Lutheran Church, 6010 Kincaid Street, Burnaby

KAMANI _ Ali Mohammed Salim passed away suddenly on Sunday October 15, 2006
at the age of 24. Ali was born May 24, 1982 and is survived by his father
Salim, mother Salima, brother Omar and sister Safiya. Ali had an exuberant
personality and will be sadly missed by his family and many friends always.
Our prayers are for his Spirit which is now in a happy and peaceful place.

LAWN _ Gertrude Eleanore Passed away peacefully into the presence of her
Lord on October 5th, 2006 at the age of 91 years. She is predeceased by
Kenneth her husband of 56 years and by Gordon her son. She is survived by
daughters Gillian (Clive) Syms and Leslie (Ralph) Webb, seven grandchildren
and one great granddaughter and by her sister Elaine (Kurt) Ryder-Cook. A
Celebration of her Life will be held at Zion United Church in Ashcroft, B.C.
on Friday October 27th, 2006 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be

United Church in Ashcroft. The family wishes to thank Pat and Jim Trethewey,
who took turns holding Mom's hand for most of two days before her death. Our

LESAGE _ Lawrence Basil (Larry) October 28, 1936 - October 15, 2006 Larry
passed away after a short and very brave battle with cancer. He will be
dearly and lovingly missed by Bev, his wife of 49 years, daughters Debbie
Stewart (Don) and Linda Buslieta (Fausto); his five grandchildren Shannon,
Tony, Monique, Lawrence and Mila and his great-grandchild Austin. Larry is

LOEWEN _ Roland April 30, 1969 - October 14, 2006 Stephanie, Samantha and
Natasha lovingly remember their husband and daddy whose last ride of the
season took him into the presence of his Lord. Roland will also be missed by
his father, Henry; sister, Elly (Rob) and brother, Norbert (Angie). Joining
Stephanie to share memories are her mother, Donna (Jim), father, Mike
(Nina), brothers, Mark (Terra) and Dave (Lorraine) and sister, Julie
(Geoff). Sam and Tasha's cousins, Rebecca, Erica, Jaya, Christina, Larissa,
Joshua, Lydia and Jenna share happy stories of Uncle with them. His large
extended family and many friends were also blessed by knowing Roland.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Roland's life at 1:00 p.m. on
Saturday, October 21, 2006 at Community Baptist Church, 4911 Silver Star

LOW _ Sheila Faye (nee Braden) born Red Cross Outpost Clinic, Pouce Coupe,
BC, September 18, 1925. Passed away peacefully on October 14, 2006. After
graduating from High School in Dawson Creek, took a Business Course in
Alberta College in Edmonton and was employed in Dawson Creek. She joined the
Womens Royal Naval Service in 1944 and was stationed at Halifax as a
Stenographer. After discharge in 1946 she returned to Dawson Creek where she
met her husband Maurice and they were married in 1947. Her husbands'
occupation in the British Columbia Provincial Police and the RCMP took her
to Duncan, Chemainus, Union Bay and Vancouver and at retirement settled in
White Rock. She was also employed at the T. Eatons Accounts department in
the 1960s'. She is predeceased by her son Kevin and brother Beverly. She is
survived by her loving husband, sons Duncan (Fernie, BC) and Gordon
(Australia), five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, sister Barbara
(Penticton), brother Desmond (Quesnel) and many nieces and nephews in Canada
and the USA. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at
11:00AM at Valley View Chapel -14660 - 72nd Ave, Surrey. Reception will
follow. No flowers by request.

MAGSON _ Lloyd Truscott March 1, 1922 - October 15, 2006 It is with great
sadness that we say good-bye to our dear father, grandfather,
great-grandfather, and friend. Lloyd passed away peacefully at Surrey
Memorial Hospital early Sunday morning with his daughter at his bedside.
Lloyd was predeceased by his beloved wife, Pamela, in 2001. He will be
forever missed by his loving family: daughter Diane Jarvos (Don), son Bob
(Myra), grandchildren Dave (Lisa), Carol (Shawn), Chris, Terry (Janine), and
great-grandchildren Doug, Mark, Tanner, Elsie, and Tony. Lloyd served as an
RCAF navigator during WWII. He returned home to Canada in 1944 after crash
landing in England on his 29th mission. Lloyd loved his family and was very
proud of their accomplishments. He enjoyed happy times at the cabin fishing,

longtime member of Fraserview and Newlands Golf Clubs. He scored an amazing
six holes-in-one and once caddied for Chi Chi Rodriguez. Lloyd recently
moved to Zion Park Manor and loved his new home. Heartfelt thanks to the
dedicated staff that treated Lloyd with love and respect. Thank you also to
the nurses and doctors at 3 South, Surrey Memorial Hospital for their

McVEIGH _ Donald Thomas (Tom), born in Fernie, British Columbia June 28,
1959, suddenly passed away on October 12, 2006. Tom will be dearly missed by
his loving wife Marilyn, daughter Joanna, son Graham (Kristin), father
James, brothers Craig and Frank (Betty Ann), sister Allyson (Dollina),
nieces and nephews and many other family and friends. Predeceased by his
loving mother, Alice. Tom has been taken from us far too soon and will be in

MILETIC _ Ante born May 2, 1930 in Vela Luka, Croatia, passed away on
October 15th, 2006 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle
with cancer. Ante settled in Canada in 1957 and worked as a long shoreman on
the beautiful shores of British Columbia. He loved the sun, birds, ocean and
the beauty of our province as well as traveling back to his homeland of
Croatia. One of his most prized accomplishments was his 1st prize win in
rowing in Vela Luka. One of Ante's passions was dancing, which lead him to
the love of his life Helen. Ante will be greatly missed by his loving common
law wife Helen Juracic, her children and grandchildren. He is survived by
his son Kevin and daughter Linna Miletic. Helen Juracic and family would
like to thank all the staff at Lions Gate hospital who took such wonderful
care of Ante in his time of need. A celebration of his Ante's life will be
held at Slovak St. Cyril Methodist Catholic Church at 472 East 8th Avenue in
New Westminster at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 21, 2006.

ORLITZKY _ Anton (Tony) December 26, 1929 - October 14, 2006 Tony passed
away peacefully on October 14, 2006 at the age of 76. He was born in
Romania, learned his electricians trade in Germany, and in 1951 with big
dreams and a small suitcase, he immigrated to Canada. On the ship from
Germany to Halifax he met Alvine, the love of his life. In 1969 Tony moved
his family to Delta, BC where he started his own family business, A.T.S.
Electro-Lube International Inc. A master electrician by trade, Mr "O" was an
inventor at heart. He is survived by his wife Alvine, his sister Gerlinde,
his children Anton Jr, Tania and Stephan, his nine grandchildren Natasha,
Stephanie, Alexandria, Tyler, Garett, Stephan-James, Alvine, Chanel and
Tony. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. A special thanks to all
the caregivers at St. Paul's Hospital, 6th floor Renal. A Celebration of his

PEDERSEN _ Russell B.ARCH, M.R.A.I.C., M.A.I.B.C. Russell Pedersen, aged 87,
beloved husband of Thelma Pedersen, passed away on Saturday, October 14,
2006 in Nanaimo, BC. He is the loving husband of Thelma Pedersen, and five
children - Valentine (Edward) Leong, Peter (deceased) (Gail) Bunnage,
Gregory (Miko) Pedersen, Patricia (Bruce) Livingstone and Suzette (Ken)
Wornall. Russell was a long-time resident of Vancouver, where he worked as
an architect. Russell relocated his business to Nanaimo, BC in 1983, merging
with his son Peter in his architectural firm known as Pedersen Associates.

Saints, Mount Benson Ward, 2424 Glen Eagle Crescent, Nanaimo, BC on

following a long and sustained illness at the age of 89 years. He is
predeceased by his brother Edwin and sister Edna and will be sadly missed by

SPEERS _ Karen Elizabeth Serenely at Peace Arch Hospital on October 16th,
2006, in her 57th year. Beloved wife of Gary and proud mother of Natalie
(James and James Jr); Michelle and her children Grace, Wil and Ben; Sondra
(Greg) and son Nicolas. Predeceased by her father John Sandilands and
survived by her mother Connie, sister Linda (Jordan and Seana Mitchell) and
brother Rod and his wife Gisele. Matriarch to a large and loving extended
family. Born in Simcoe, Ontario on July 16, 1949, Karen embraced military
life through marriage with Gary and raised her fledgling family in an
European setting in the seventies. Karen immersed herself in community life
upon the Speers arrival in the Surrey area in the eighties. She was
President of the Parents committee at Jessie Lee Elementary School, a
Brownie Leader and a tireless community fundraiser. During this hectic
period, Karen also found time to establish a cleaning company. She later
returned to school as a mature student to realize a lifelong ambition to
become a registered nurse. She succeeded and was selected as valedictorian
for her graduating class of 1995, working at St. Paul's Hospital until the
advent of her illness in 2002. Karen enjoyed her growing family, camping
excursions and supporting social activities through Al-Anon. The family
would like to express their gratitude to the staffs of St. Paul's, the BC
Cancer Agency and Peace Arch Hospital respectively for their attentiveness
towards Karen and her family. A Memorial Service to honour Karen's life for
those inspired by her compassion, wisdom, succulent home cooked meals and

away October 4, 2006. Predeceased by her husbands Murray Taylor and Jack

her grandchildren Kelly Lee Begg, Jeffrey Russell Koronko, Jay Mathew
Taylor, and Kenneth John Taylor; and her great-grandchildren Grady Allen
Begg, Kelsey Anne Begg, Cody Jeffrey Koronko, and Ashlan Kim Koronko. Nellie
was born in Vancouver and spent her childhood in Dawson City, Yukon. She mov
ed to Vancouver where she attended John Oliver High School. Nellie was
active in the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile and will be missed
by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at First Memorial
Funeral Services, 14835 Fraser Hwy, Surrey, B.C. on Thursday, October 26th

VINE _ Nancy (Zailo) It is with great sadness that our Mum, Nana, sister,
aunt and friend, Nancy Vine, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October
12, 2006. Nancy was born in Vancouver on November 16, 1936. She graduated
from the old King Ed High School in 1954. She married Peter Vine (deceased)
in 1955 and together they had four children. She leaves Victoria (Lauren and
Mitchell), Craig (Charles, Olivia and Jeremy), Sandra (Stacey & Eric) and
Steven. Nancy also leaves her former son-in-law, who was like another son,
Tom Coplin. Nancy will be sadly missed by her two brothers, Gary and Jim
(Wendy) and her sister-in-law who was like a sister - Shirley and all their
respective extended families; and her cousin-who-was-more-a-sister, and her
best friend - Ina (Giles) Meditz in Arizona and their family. Nancy was
predeceased by her parents, Ina and George Zailo (1980 & 1992), her
son-in-law Bob Foster (2001) and her eldest brother Dick Zailo (2002). Nancy
would have liked to make a special mention to four ladies who she thought
the world of: Vivian, Emily, Jean and Maryanne. Each of your friendships
were very special to Mum. Thank you. As Nancy was not religious, we are
having a "Celebration of Life" with a tea on Friday, October 20, 2006 at the
Hilton (Vancouver-Metrotown) Hotel from 2:00 to 5:00 pm.
