ATKINSON, Allan Dynes Born January 9, 1925 in Victoria. Passed away at
Saanich Peninsula Hospital on December 3, 2006. Served overseas in the army
until retirement. Predeceased by his mother, Eliza (Lila) in 1967 and Father
Dynes in 1988. Sadly missed by his sister, Muriel Fennell; brother, Wayne:
sister-in-law, Wendy and many nephews, nieces and relatives. Many thanks to
Dr. Wray and medical staff at Saanich Peninsula Hospital for all their care
and attention. No funeral by request. If desired, donations may be made to

BRECKON, Adele August 4, 1921 December 3, 2006 Predeceased by Frederick
(Bob) Breckon, RCN, July, 1986. She is survived by daughters Dianne (Leon)
Lamprecht, Lauretta (Denzil) Daniells, Roberta (Gianni) Flora. Grandchildren
Krista (Jeff) Price, Elaine (Jonathan) Marshall, Glen (Sherry) Fraser, James
Fleck, Dave (Susy) Breckon, Dave Hickey and Ryan Lamprecht, six
great-grandchildren and younger sister Florence Hanlon. She is greatly
missed by her family, Dick, Janet (Jim) and Vern (Nancy). We are very
grateful to the loving care that mom had for the last month at Saanich

CLARKE, James George (Jim) Left us on November 28, 2006. He will be missed
by his loving wife, Joyce of 39 years; sons, Scott (Robin) and Rodney;
grandchildren, Larissa and McKenzie; sister-in-law, Vera (Len); and family
and friends in England, Jim's birthplace. Sherri, Luke, Jack and Aliya loved

DAVIES, Caroline Margaret (nee Dunstan-Adams ) Born March 28th, 1954 in
London England. Died December 2nd, 2006, in Victoria, B.C. Canada.
Predeceased by her father, Doctor Myles Dunstan-Adams in 1994. Caroline
leaves her loving family, husband Ron of 23 years, daughters Jennifer and
Karilynne, step-son Jason, mother Beryl, sister Elizabeth (Ludek), brothers
David (Kim), Peter (Tami). Caroline lived her first 7 years in London and
Nairobi, Kenya. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1961. She attended U.
Vic. and B.C.I.T., and qualified as a Medical Laboratory Technologist. She
has traveled extensively through Europe, Australia, Africa & the U.K. over
the years. She married Ron in 1983, and during the past 12 years, has been
very active within the schools that her daughters attended. Her long and
courageous fight with cancer these past 9 years, has finally ended
peacefully. A celebration of her life will be arranged and will take place
at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations towards a Fine Arts
Scholarship in her name would be greatly appreciated. Donations to: Oak Bay

FLETCHER, Wilburta Florence (nee Ede) After a long and fulfilling life,
Wilburta passed away peacefully on November 26, 2006 at the age of 98.
Predeceased by her husband Walter Fletcher, she will be remembered by her
daughter Joan and her son-in-law Robert Strijckers, her grandsons Paul and
Robert, great-grandson Liam, her sister-in-law Margaret Fletcher and her
nephew, nieces and greatnephews and nieces. Wilburta was born in Penticton,
April 5, 1908, the youngest daughter of 6 children of Wilburt and Emma Ede.
She came to Victoria with her parents at the age of 6 months. She attended
Girls Central School and Victoria High. She studied piano in her younger
years with her sister Ada before entering, in 1926, the Royal Jubilee
Hospital School of Nursing. Received her R.N. in 1929 and did private
duties, nursing for 3 years before marrying Walter Fletcher in 1932. She
raised her daughter E. Joan. She enjoyed outdoor life and musical endeavors
in the city. As a member of the Victoria Sketch Club, she enjoyed painting.
She was blessed with a very caring family and very special friends who have
helped her during very stressful times. In later life, she found a closer
relationship with God and the teachings of Jesus Christ. She was richly
blessed with a very loving and kind husband with whom she was privileged to
see other parts of the world. During the war, worked for the Red Cross in
sewing groups, First Aid posts in the city. Latterly, she volunteered for
the Blood Donor Clinic, the Royal Jubilee Hospital Auxiliary and was active
with the Rotary Anns of Victoria. A celebration of Wilburta's life will be
held at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1155 Fort Street, on Saturday,
December 9 at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow in the Holly Room. If
desired, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

HADLEY, Darold Albert September 9, 1944 December 2, 2006 Darold Albert
Hadley left us to join his father, Jim who passed away January 23, 1963.
Darold passed at home of heart failure with his loving wife Jean at his
side. He leaves behind wife Jean, daughter Tanya and Yvon, son Todd and
Jennifer, grandchildren Karissa, Chelsea, Carson and Kyle. Darold also
leaves his mother Margaret, brother Joe and Sharon, sister Cathy,
brother-in-law Trevor, six nieces, four nephews, special cousin Paul and
Kay, special friend Bert and Barb, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and
friends. He will be missed. A memorial service will be held at McCALL BROS.

HURDLE, Ruby Elenore Born 1926, Ruby passed away peacefully December 1st,
2006. Predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years Robert (Bob) in 2004.
She is survived by her sons, Robert (Sharon), Brian and Larry; five
grandchildren, Andrea, Angela, Keith, Steven and Tara and five great
grandchildren, Andrew, Brendan, Rodi, Taylor and Tyler. Ruby was a devoted
wife and mother whose strength inspired all who knew her. She displayed
courage through adversity and is now reunited with Bob. A special thanks to
all the health workers and staff at John Alfred Manor and a very special
thanks to Marilyn at (We Care) who was a good friend to Ruby. Her wishes
were that no services be held and in lieu of flowers donations to the Cancer
Society would be appreciated. She was loved and will be missed by us all.

JARDINE, Douglas Haig August 31, 1917 December 1, 2006 Our beloved Uncle
Doug passed away peacefully in the comforting surroundings of his family and
Victoria Hospice. He is survived by his niece Geraldine Ben-Oliel, nephew
Ernest Maxwell (Wilma) and grand-nephews Douglas, Jamie and Stephen
Ben-Oliel. He was predeceased by his sister Jessie Helen (1987) and his
brother-in-law Ernest Maxwell (1991). Doug was born in Montrose, Scotland
and emigrated to Canada with his family in 1919. His working career began in
Calgary as a postman. He served overseas with the Royal Canadian Navy from
1942 to 1945. He then went on to enjoy a teaching career, in Edmonton, at
Ross Sheppard, Westmount School and McNally Composite. In 1982, Doug retired
to Vancouver and continued to travel extensively. On his returns, he enjoyed
sharing his tales and experiences with his family and friends. Other fond
pastimes were walking, reading and composing poetry. We especially want to
thank the doctors and nursing staff of RPI and Victoria Hospice at the Royal
Jubilee Hospital for their kindness and loving care in his last days. A
private celebration of his life will be held in the new year. As an
expression of sympathy, a donation in Doug's memory may be made to the

LEONARD, Bernard Bernie passed away December 2, 2006 at Nanaimo Regional
Hospital. He leaves his loving wife Ellen, son Norm and daughter Susan; also
his beloved grandchildren Matthew, Scott and Rachel. A memorial service will
be held Friday, December 8, at 1:00PM, at Yates Funeral Service, 1000

PARFITT, Lorraine It is with great sadness we announce the passing of
Lorraine Parfitt on December 3, 2006. She was the devoted wife to Norman
(1990) for 44 years, and brought up three wonderful sons, Dewayne
(Elizabeth), Daryl (Barb) and Glenn (Barb). Lorraine was an avid bowler and
loved to walk with a good friend. She was very active doing volunteer and
office work in at Belmont Avenue United Church, and was a volunteer at the
Red Cross. Lorraine was born in Park Ridge Illinois on May 21,1923 the
eldest daughter of Louis and Elsa Ahrens. She met her future husband at a
dance in Chicago, when Norm was in the air force. They were married in 1946
in Park Ridge, Ill. Although Lorraine was never made a Great Grandmother she
was definitely a great grandmother to Wesley, Daniel, Robin, Kimberley,
Sarah, Ryan, Amy & Max. Services will held at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL,
Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 11:00 am. A
reception to follow in the Graham & Torrey McCall Family Centre. In lieu of

PATERSON, David Dave died peacefully December 4th after a valiant, four-year
journey with cancer. He was surrounded to the end by his family. He leaves
his loving wife of 55 years, Brenda; children Les (Christine), Hugh
(Sherry), Russ (Kellie), Elaine (Jonathan); grandchildren Nicole, Doug,
Amanda, Danielle, Michael, Jared, Vanessa, Matthew, John, Jason (Miranda);
sister Ann; brother John (Jacqueline); and many nieces and nephews.
Pre-deceased by siblings William, Margaret, Mary, Jim and niece Joyce. Dave
will be fondly remembered by his many circles of friends, especially The
Gang." Special thanks to the nurses who helped in Dave's care. Born in
Willow Bunch Sask. in 1927, Dave married his beloved Brenda in 1951. He
moved his family to Wesley Road in 1965 to provide his children with the
simple pleasures of rural life. Dave was happiest working on his property
and building with his hands. He owned several successful businesses
including Paterson Appliance Service and Mais Furniture. Dave was passionate
about Bridge and attained life master status in 1997. He loved lawn bowling
and took a special interest in coaching new players. He was a true friend,
devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. We are blessed to have
walked with you, Dad. Memorial service Saturday, December 9th, 2:30pm,

PITCHFORD, Janet Isabelle September 4, 1916 November 28, 2006 Janet passed
away suddenly in Victoria General Hospital while recovering from a fall.
Janet was born in Calgary, Alberta and moved to Victoria with her family in
1930. She attended and graduated from St. Margaret's School. Janet began her
35-year career with the BC Government in 1942 in the Department of Vital
Statistics and worked in various capacities in the Department of Health and
Hospital Insurance until retirement in 1977. She was an active member of the
Metropolitan United Church and looked after the church archives for a number
of years. Janet enjoyed traveling and took many adventurous trips to Europe,
Asia and Africa. She had a full and rewarding life and enjoyed good health
until the end. Janet will be deeply missed by her many friends and relatives
in Canada and in England. A memorial service will be held on Friday,
December 8 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at First Metropolitan United Church, 932
Balmoral Road, Victoria. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the

SCHLENKER, Carl Volker August 24, 1947 November 30, 2006 It is with profound
sadness that Carl's family shares the news of his death. Born in
Schwenningen Germany, Carl immigrated to Canada in 1953. Many people in
Winnipeg will remember his smile. During the short time he lived in Regina
Carl's friends and family gave him countless reasons to smile. Carl moved to
Edmonton where his easy smile and outgoing personality enlarged his circle
of friends. Work took Carl and his family to Vancouver and true to his
nature he enjoyed the fellowship of many, many wonderful people. Carl
touched the lives of many around the world because he was one of those truly
great guys some of us are lucky to know. Carl; son, husband, father, friend.
Everyone will remember your slightly crooked smile. You will be loved
forever. A private Celebration of Carl's life will be held on December 16,
2006. Heartfelt thanks to the staff on 4A South at Victoria General Hospital

SNELL, Aileen Aileen Snell passed away peacefully with her family at her
side at the West Parry Sound Health Centre on Sunday afternoon, December
3rd, 2006 in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late Major Wilfred Snell.
Loving mother of Jennifer Partridge of Rosseau; Anne and her husband Jacob
Hoekema of Victoria, B.C.; Peter and his wife Tracy Snell of Whitehorse,
Yukon; Ian and his wife Pauline Snell of Dorchester. Loving grandmother of
Daniel, Patrick, James Edward and Gregory; Amy and Joshua; Jennifer, Heather
and Julie; Kerri and Tracy. Survived by sister Louise and brothers Ian and
Starey. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, other relatives and many
dear friends. Service of Remembrance to celebrate Aileen's life to be held
in the Logan Memorial Chapel, 81 James St., Parry Sound, ON (705-746-5855)
on Thursday, December 7th at 1:00 P.M. The family welcomes visitors prior to
