Alison Mary Alexander (nee Carmichael) February 10, 1953 - February 5, 2001
Another year has passed, but our memories of you will be a Joy in our hearts
for as long as we survive. You live on through your children, Nick and
Keeley and all the people who shared your short stay with us. Thanks for the
time we shared, I will never forget. Lovingly Remembered by the Alexander

ANDREWS _ Leslie Magill passed away February 3, 2007. She was born on July
5, 1956 to Leslie Bratton Andrews and Richard Magill Andrews Jr. while the
family resided in Japan. The family company, Andrews & George Ltd, had a
long history going back to 1894 of doing business in Japan. Known as Gill to
her family, she leaves a sister Beth Drummond (Barry) of West Vancouver, a
brother Richard Magill Andrews III (Joan) of North Vancouver and a sister
Mary Frances Smith of Summerville, South Carolina. Special thanks to Kim
Morecroft for her excellent care of Gill and giving her joy during her last
days. Service to be held at 10:00 AM, February 24, 2007 at Sands Funeral
Home, 317 Goldstream Avenue, Victoria, BC. Reception to follow.

ARONETZ _ Edith Georgina (nee Burnham) of White Rock slipped away in her
sleep peacefully in hospital on February 7th, 2007 after a long and valiant
battle with cancer. Beloved wife of John, cherished mother of Cal, Curtis,
Carey, and Cameron. Adored grandmother of Carly, Cortland, and Taylor.
Sister of Ted (Rosemary), predeceased by brothers Howard (Phyllis) and Doug
(Dodie). Daughter of the late John and Evelyn Burnham. Edie will be forever
remembered, loved, and greatly missed by all who knew her. A service in
memory of Edith and in celebration of her life will be held on Monday,
February 19th at 2 p.m. at the Anglican Church of the Holy Trinity, 15115
Roper Avenue, White Rock B.C. Donations in Edith's name can be made to the
BC Cancer Agency.

ATKINSON _ Leslie W. 1918 - 2007 Passed away quietly February 4, 2007.
Leaving to mourn his wife Anita (Gwen) of 61 years. Also an extended family
of nieces, nephews and cousins. Les was born in Nottingham, England in 1918
but has lived most of his 89 years in the Lower Mainland. Because of his
kind and outgoing personality he made many friends, many of whom are still
around to mourn his passing. Thanks to the Peace Arch Hospital, the
Ambulance Personnel and Firemen. No memorial by request.

BEEBE _ Wanda Odessa (Shipley) June 5th , 1915 - February 6th, 2007
Predeceased by husband Del and son David, dearly remembered by her children
Marilyn Clarke (Larry), Donald Beebe (Annie), Darrell Beebe (Jan), Beverley
Shipley (Russ); grandchildren Stephanie, Glenn, Michelle, Kimberley,
Jennifer, Jeffrey, Deanna, and Robert. Her extra special love was for
great-grandchildren Maria, Matteo and Mercedes. She will always be with us.

BJORNSON _ Marno Peter passed away peacefully February 6, 2007. Born in
Vancouver, B.C. February 8, 1958. Marno is survived by his loving mother
Martha; brothers Doug (Regina), Eric (Anne), and sister Heather (Issac);
nephews Issac, B.J. (Tara), Paul and nieces Margaret, Myrna, Kelsey and
Haley, his aunts Liney and Lillian and his best friend Penny (the Cat). He
was predeceased by his father Marino and his sister Margaret. A Memorial
service will be held Friday, February 16th, 2007 at 2:00pm at the Oakridge
Lutheran Church, 585 West 41st Avenue at Cambie St. Pastor Adolf Manz
officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to Renal Program Education Fund
at VGH or Oakridge Lutheran Church.

BRISCOE _ Hazel Cecilia (Sterling). Born January 17, 1913 in Steep Creek,
Sask. Died January 21, 2007 in Kelowna, BC. Predeceased by husband Harvey,
son Woodrow and grandson Randy. Survived by daughters Rachel de Lisser
(Robert), Lee Kerk, Lorna McLeod, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren
and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Hazel was laid to rest in
Valley View Memorial Gardens.

BUCAR _ Frank Xavier "FX" Born on November 25, 1921 in Franchisek KS,
Yugoslavia, passed away February 5, 2007 in Maple Ridge, British Columbia.
Frank was predeceased by his wife of 48 Years, Marion Grace Bucar (nee
White). Frank spent the majority of his working life in the mining industry
both in sales and management. After an early retirement he worked in real
estate and investments in Calgary. He was a consummate salesman and could
sell anything to anybody. He had a passion for fly fishing, was an
instructor for cross country skiing, enjoyed camping, bowling, golfing and
traveling. He later moved to B.C. after the death of his wife. Frank is
survived by: son, Randall, daughters Debora (Glen); and Cheryl; five
grandsons, Clayton, Travis (Colleen), Geoffrey, Randy and Scott; two
granddaughters, Tamara and Rory; and several great-grandchildren, two
sisters, Betty and Annette; and numerous relatives and friends both in
Alberta and B.C. A Celebration of Frank's life will be held at First
Memorial Burkeview Chapel, 1340 Dominion Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B.C., V3C
3V4 at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 17, 2007.

BURNS _ Joan (Davidson) born January 26, 1923 passed away peacefully at
Eagle Ridge Hospital on February 6, 2007. Predeceased by her husband John
(1998). She will be missed by her loving family: son Rob (Caroline) and
daughter Barb. Our sincere thanks to the staff and nurses at Dufferin Care
Centre, who cared for her over the past 15 months. Also thanks to the
doctors and nurses at Eagle Ridge Hospital for your gentle, loving care. No

CAPPELL _ Adam Lee August 18, 1985 - February 2, 2007 Adam passed away after
a courageous battle with MS. He is survived by his mother Mary, brother
David, his uncle Eric and his caregiver, Doug Locke. Adam had an impact on
everyone he met; family, friends and strangers on the street. He met each
day with hope, determination and optimism. He lived his life on his own
terms. Adam was an artist, he loved music, his friends at Reggae night,
pretty girls, shopping and pushing his wheelchair beyond its limits. Thank

CARNAHAN _ Earle Arthur February 18, 1952 - January 23, 2007 LIFE'S WORK,
WELL DONE With great sorrow and comforting memories we sadly announce that
Earle Arthur Carnahan, eldest and only son of Chester and Edith, dear
husband of Georgia (Merry), father to Braeden and Lise, has left this world
suddenly, age 54. Earle's grandparents, his mother, mom-in-law Albertine and
Tristen were waiting to welcome him. Earle's sensitive and unassuming nature
is missed by sister Rosemary (Carol), Laura, Cameron; sister Louise Mudgway
(Geoff), Ryan, Sarah; also in-laws Henry and Diane Merry; James (Wendy)
Kohle, Marlis Merry: David Merry (Shelley) and Dawson; treasured friends/2nd
parents Gordon and Marilyn Randle, Paul, Linda, Elaine, Terry, Don, Teresa,
Barbara-Ann, Jeff, Karen, our amazing families in BC, Alberta, Sask,
Richmond Lawn Bowlers, co-workers Ball Pkg. (30 yrs); and the many people
Earle helped. Earle was a master builder, electrician, mechanic,
computer/tech buff, photographer and much more who shared his gifts and
talents selflessly, was loyal to his family and will be remembered by all
who knew him for his generosity, patience and expertise. Heaven must have
had a more urgent need for a tall, thin craftsman in a plaid shirt, jeans

CASKIE _ Margaret Stevenson Born April 6, 1933 passed away January 8, 2007
at St. Paul's Hospital. Predeceased by her parents, John Caskie and
Elizabeth Nairn Caskie (nee Stevenson) of Glasgow, Scotland and her Aunt and
Uncle Alec and Beatrice McTaggart as well as her brother, Charles Caskie,
all of Vancouver. Also survived by her cousins and their families in Glasgow
and Williamstown, Massachusetts. "All the Best" to her relatives and
friends. No memorial service by request. Donations may be made to the B.C.
Cancer Foundation in lieu of flowers.

CHEUNG _ Wai Yee (Helen), beloved daughter of Dr. Thomas H. C. Cheung and
Madam Cheung Yau Ying, sister of Cecilia, Margaret, Catherine, Raeann,
Peter, and aunt of Jordon, passed away peacefully on February 2nd, 2007 at
the Vancouver General Hospital, after a courageous battle against cancer.
Her kindness was deeply felt through her unselfish acts for her loved ones
and her community. She was much loved by her family, and will be missed
dearly. A memorial service will be held at the Richmond Funeral Home on
Monday, February 12, 2007 at 10AM. In lieu of flowers please consider making

CRUICKSHANK _ Colin (Poppa), passed away suddenly in Varadaro, Cuba on
January 30, 2007. He was born in Red Deer, Alberta, May 29, 1929. His family
moved to Vancouver in 1939. He had a 35-year career at Johnston Motors
Company, and then pursued his own business venture with the purchase of
Fallis Turf Equipment. He was very active in the sports community -
President of Vancouver Burrards, and Commissioner of WLA. He retired in
1987, and moved to Nanoose Bay with his wife Joan. After her death in 1999,
he spent his time traveling to his favourite destinations Cuba and Portugal.
He is predeased by his wife Joan, and survived by his children, Bruce
(Michele), Craig (Rhonda), and Jody. His grandchildren David, Matt, OShea,
Jesse and Lauren. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sands Funeral
Chapel on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 1:00 pm., #1 Newcastle Avenue.

DINNEY _ Roland Claude 1927 - 2007 Roland Claude Dinney (Bud) beloved
husband of May Dinney of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2007
at the age of 79 years. Bud was born and raised in Vancouver. He served in
the Navy, spending time overseas in England. Bud also belonged to CNAG. He
worked as a sheet metal aircraft mechanic with various airlines for
thirty-two years. Besides May, his loving wife of fifty years, Bud is
survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John Taylor of Edmonton
and his son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Donna Dinney of Hoosier, SK;
four grandchildren, Janene Saunders, Sarah Taylor, Geri Dinney and Derek
Dinney. He is also survived by two sisters, Margery Neyedli and Georgina
Wardrop, both of Vancouver as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bud was
predeceased by his brother Jack. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS &

FORCE _ Eileen Patricia (Pat) Anne, nee Hanlan May 19, 1924 - January 22,
2007 With sadness, Pat's family announces her passing into the Arms of our
Lord to join her loving husband Don, and son Randy. Born in the roaring
twenties, to Daniel Francis Hanlan and Ethel Mae Goacher, a big sister to
brother and best friend, Charles "Bud" Francis Hanlan and half-sister Helen.
Pat was a vibrant, unforgettable gal who met and married the man of her
dreams and raised a loving family. She was a nurturing mother to Linda
(Bill), Danny, Catherine (Rice), Randy (Nancy) and Heather. Pat leaves
behind 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild who were the light of her
life. Pat's door was open to those in need who could always find shelter, a
caring word and a cup of tea. She was a natural gardener, talented
seamstress and a wonderful storyteller. Later in life, Pat moved to White
Rock, B.C. where, with her platinum-blonde hair, she became a well-known
personality. Her elegance and sunny smile made her a recognizable "lady"
about town. Pat was a caring, generous Mom and friend to many and will be
dearly missed. A celebration of her life was held in White Rock, on Sunday,
January 28th, 2007. Pat will be interred in Toronto at a later date, laid to
rest with her Husband and Son.

GEDDES _ Jack Cowie 1913 -2007 Passed away peacefully at White Rock Peace
Arch Hospital on February 3, 2007. Survived by his devoted wife of 63 years;
Julie, his daughters Alma Roussinos, Tina Podwinski, son Al (Helen) and
grandchildren Athena, (Victor) Tirra, Star (Dean), Kris (Amanda), Sasha, and
Aja. Predeceased by his grandson Alex. Jack's great-grandchildren Vienna,
Kai, and Geneva will honour the memory of his legacy. Born in Huntley,
Scotland, Jack served in the Merchant Marines during WW II before beginning
a 32 year bricklaying career in Canada. A proud member of the Bricklayers
Union since 1948, Jack acted as business agent from 1966 to 1980. A man of
strong convictions, Jack participated in the On to Ottawa Trek in 1935 and
spoke often with authority and insight of this era in presentations to
school groups in his later years. Jack was a cub leader at St. Margaret's
Church for 20 years and continued his lifelong commitment to service by
running the dances at the Kent St. Seniors Centre entertaining all with his
zest for life. The positive impact of his sunny disposition characterized
his recent time at Come Share. Jack's family extends sincere thanks to all
staff and friends found there who treasure with us the memory of his sense
of humour, vivid gift for storytelling and sharp wit. All are invited for a
celebration of Jack's life which will be held at the Victory Gardens, 14831

GILBERT _ Frances Joyce R.N. (retired) December 27, 1921 - February 05, 2007
Predeceased by her parents, George and Mabel Furness, brother Thomas Buddy
and Alma (Elmer) Abrams. She is survived by her husband Ted of 52 years,
sons Kenneth (Debbie) and Thomas, grandchildren Tim and Sara, and nieces and
nephews. Joyce has been a resident of New Westminster all her life, having
been born and raised here. It is also where she met Ted, while singing in
the choir of St. Paul's Church in the early 1950's, who she later married
and together raised their two sons. It was fitting then that she was a
member of the Native Daughters. She was also a member of the Nurses Alumni
and was an active member in several local churches, including St. Paul's
Reformed Episcopal Church, Shiloh United Church and First Presbyterian
Church where she particularly enjoyed her role in the choir. Her singing
abilities took her all over the lower mainland, singing at weddings,
funerals and special occasions with her sister. Joyce graduated from Duke of
Connaught High School and went on to train at the Royal Columbia Hospital
School of Nursing, class of 1944 B. After a short time working locally she
went on to train at the Margaret Hague Hospital in New Jersey as an
obstetrics nurse. At the end of her training there, she returned to Royal
Columbian Hospital where she took on the role as head of the maternity ward.
In all, her nursing career spanned an impressive 40 years. A celebration of
Joyce's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at
the First Presbyterian Church, 335 7th Street, New Westminster. In lieu of
flowers, donations can be named in her name to the Canadian Diabetes

John Ginter (1921 - 2004) Sadly missed by sons Dave, Jim & Mickey and their
families

HATCH _ Robert George, born April 2, 1921. George died suddenly and
peacefully at his residence on Friday, February 2, 2007. George was born in
Shellbrook, Sask. and grew up in that area until enlisting with the RCAF
during WWII. He served as a Spitfire technician in England, France, Belgium,
Holland and finally Germany. After the War George moved to Vancouver where
he met and married Anne, his wife of 52 years. Other than two short stints
with the Air Force in Ottawa during the 50's George lived the remainder of
his life in the Lower Mainland. George was predeceased by his wife, Anne, in
2000 and is survived by his son Bob (Ellen), and daughters Trudy Close and
Cheryl Stertz (Ross), grandchildren Amber, Morgan, Carly, Brian, Robert and
Jim, plus 5 great-grandchildren. George was a "family man" through and
through and could always to be found helping his children or grandchildren
make their way through life. Whether moving furniture (yet again), doing
home repairs or cleaning the barn, he was always there to help. Goodbye Dad,
and thank you, we'll all really miss you. Services will be held at St.
Andrews Anglican Church in Langley on Tuesday, February 13 at 11:00 am,
reception to follow.

HERRINGTON _ Harry Vernon. Peacefully, at home in his 88th year on February
2, 2007. The only child of Kate Florence Louch and Willis Earl Herrington,
Harry was born in Vancouver at Shaughnessy Hospital on October 10, 1919 (the
year the hospital opened). Harry grew up in Vancouver attending school at
Hastings, Templeton, Britannia and the University of British Columbia.
Enlisting in February 1940, Harry served with the 417 Fighter Squadron of
the R.C.A.F. and was awarded the Canadian Squadron Volunteer Service Medal
and Maple Leaf, the Africa Star and Clasp, the 1939-1945 Star, The Defense
Medal and the War Medal 1939-1945. Upon leaving the Air Force Harry joined
the British Columbia Provincial Police. When they were absorbed by the
R.C.M.P., Harry became Regional Manager for Dietrich Collins in Prince
George. After Fred Dietrich's death Harry left Prince George and returned to
the Lower Mainland and sold real estate until illness forced him to retire.
He leaves his loving wife Constance (Connie). Daughter Nadine (Peter
Freestone) in Northampton, England and her mother Marion Herrington in North
Vancouver, B.C. Forever "Mr. Herrington" to Catherine (Ian Smith), Dean
Colpitts and Jayne Norton (Max Taubert). Grandchildren Jay Freestone,
Jessica and Christopher Smith, Sara and Alison Norton, Graham and Joanna
Colpitts. He will be deeply missed by best friend Alec Woodley. Special
thanks to Dr. David Warner and his staff. At his request there will be no
service. Flowers gratefully declined but donations to the Union Gospel

HICKMORE _ Stanley H. January 6, 1920 - February 2, 2007 Our family mourns
the loss of Stan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and
cousin. Stan passed away peacefully at Surrey Memorial Hospital following a
courageous battle with cancer. His memory will be cherished by his wife of
68 years, Blanche, his daughter Elaine Melnick (Jack) and son T. Christian
Hickmore (Janine), one granddaughter Marie VanDalfsen (Bert) and three
grandsons, Stanley Melnick, Doug Melnick, and Ryan Hickmore, one
great-granddaughter Elizabeth VanDalfsen and two great-grandsons, Nicholas
VanDalfsen and Mitchel Melnick. Stan was predeceased by his parents, three
brothers, and a sister. Stan is survived by four sisters, Doris, Helen,
Margie, and Elsie, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will all miss him.
Stan was born in Winnifred, Alberta and lived and farmed in Ponoka, before
serving with the R.C.A.F. during WWII. After the war Stan provided for his
family through hard work and commitment in many different fields before
moving to Smithers, B.C. In 1954 Stan and his family moved to Kitimat, B.C.
where he worked as a foreman at Alcan until he retired to Surrey, B.C. with
his wife in 1975. Stan, a hard working, honest man with a keen sense of
humour and a love of family, was a member of Branch #229 of the Canadian
Legion in Surrey, B.C. He touched the lives of all he met and will be
remembered by his family and many friends for his gift of storytelling, his
engaging personality, and his home made bread. Memorial service will be held
at Branch 229 Whalley Legion, 13525 - 106 Ave., Surrey on Sunday, February
18th from 1:30 - 4:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the

HIRT _ Hannah (nee Brownstone) born January 28, 1921 in Winnipeg and passed
away peacefully on February 7, 2007 at the Weinberg Residence. Predeceased
by beloved husband Norman and daughter Diana and her parents Charlie and
Olia Brownstone. Cherished mother of Judy Hirt-Manheimer and husband Aron,
and Sheila Maidstone and husband Peter. Devoted Grandmother to, Noah, Isaac
and Miriam, Ezra and Ida. Survived by her loving brothers Meyer, Sam and
Shieky. Hannah was an inspiration to those who knew her, was a link across
the generations and had room in her heart for many. Special thanks to the
staff at the Weinberg Residence for their care. Service to be held at 11am
Sunday February 11, 2007 at Schara Tzedeck Cemetery 2345 Marine Drive, New

HORWOOD _ Kenneth Edwin (December 1, 1928 - February 8, 2007) Ken passed
away at Delta Hospital on February 8, 2007 at 78 years. He leaves to mourn
his wife, Gloria, and children, Stacey Ann Gilkinson (Bryce) and Allan
Marquis Horwood (Tasha), as well as grandchildren Michael (Leslie), Stacey
Noelle and Connor Gilkinson. Born in Sheffield, England, Ken arrived in
Canada as a toddler with his parents, and spent his early years in Invermere
and Cranbrook, BC, where he joined the RCMP at age 18, and was posted to
various small towns in Saskatchewan. As a member of the Musical Ride, he
traveled throughout the US and Canada and was then selected as one of the

went to Europe as liaison with the Canadian Immigration Service and was
posted to various embassies in Scandinavia and Germany. He met Gloria when
he was sent to Athens, Greece and they were married there in 1959. After 25
years in the RCMP, he joined Canada Safeway and pursued a degree in Urban
Land Economics at UBC. He retired from Safeway in 1990 as Property Manager
and enjoyed many years of travel, as well as days and days of construction
work on his own home and those of his children. He became an expert
drywaller, bricklayer, fence builder and tile-installer, and leaves a legacy
of projects that testify to his many talents and interests. Ken was
predeceased by an infant brother, Derek and his sister Bay Chernen, whose
children Gail McConnell and Judy Klassen survive. He will be missed by many
colleagues and friends, as well as his cherished family. Funeral Service to

KATRONIS _ Elsie (nee Galenzowski) born in 1914 in Balgonie, Saskatchewan,
passed away peacefully on February 6, 2007. Elsie was predeceased by loving
husband, Melton in November 1998; sisters Ann, Hilda, and Ollie. Survived by
loving daughter Marina (husband Jack Ross, deceased) and their children
Katina Sudermann, and Jacqueline Brown; and son Tom (Edith), and their
children, Lisa MacAulay, Jonathan Katronis, and Bradley Katronis. She is
survived by sisters Edith (Fedele), and Helen (Leib), and brother Clifford
Galenzowski. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Jordan, Taylor, Ashton,
Andreas, Conner, and Riley, among other family members are cousin Ted
(Kathy) Sideris, Dena, Van and Rena. Elsie lived in Vancouver where she was
a part of the arts community, past president of the Vancouver Ballet
Society. Elsie bestowed her love of the arts in her children, including
daughter, Marina who went on to become principal dancer with the Royal
Winnipeg Ballet and son Tom has retired from teaching Physics at Magee
Secondary School. Elsie loved music (especially Viennese), gardening, and
her prize roses. In later years Elsie managed to travel extensively with her
grandchildren and she will forever be missed by one and all. A visitation
will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby on
Sunday, February 11, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. from where funeral services will
be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2007. Interment will follow at

KELLNER_ Elof Manfred Passed away peacefully at age 97 with his nephew at
his bedside in St. Michael's Hospice Centre, Burnaby, B.C. Predeceased by
his wife, Elsie in 1980, he is survived by his brother, Enar and several
nephews and nieces in Sweden, as well as nephews and nieces in B.C. Born in
Sweden in 1909, Elof came to Canada at age 17, worked on farms in the
prairies, as a logger in BC and then in Vancouver at a steel mill until he
retired. A Celebration of his life will be held February 24, 2007 at 1:00
P.M. at the Scandinavian Community Centre, 6450 Thomas St., Burnaby, B.C. A

KYLES _ John Gray, born in Vancouver August 30, 1953, passed away suddenly

LEONHART _ Charles Alexander 1932-2007 It is with great sadness that the
family announces the sudden passing of Charlie (Chuck) on February 7th.
Predeceased by his 1st wife Myrtle, his father Charles and mother Sarah. He

McGAULEY _ Dorothy passed away at her home in Blueberry Creek on Sunday,
February 4, 2007 at the age of 80. Dorothy is survived by her daughter
Deborah (John) Gray in Prince George and her son Keith (Karen Peddle)
McGauley in White Rock, her grandchildren Chris (Elouise) Gray in Brisbane,
Australia, Ryan Gray in Prince George and Connor and Kimberley McGauley in
White Rock, great grandchildren Jack and Arabella Gray, sisters Beverley
(Jack) Raffle, Shirley Bolley, brother-in-law Bill (Alma) McGauley,
sister-in-law Kay McGauley and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was
predeceased by her husband Tom and grandson Brad. Dorothy was raised in New
Westminster and came to Castlegar to teach Grade 1 in 1946. She taught
school in Castlegar for most of the next 30 years. She was always interested
to hear news of her former students and would often be greeted by them
decades later. Her love of education continued with her volunteering as a
reader to the children at the Blueberry School. Her positive attitude and
determination kept her active after she had kidney failure, then a
transplant 18 years ago gave her a new lease on life. She was active with
both the Kidney Foundation and the Parkinson's Group for many years. Dorothy
had a large circle of friends whom she loved to discuss current events with,
especially over lunch. A memorial will be held on Wednesday, February 21,
2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sandman Inn. In lieu of flowers, donations towards
a bench on the Millennium Walk in Castlegar would be appreciated.

NIELSEN _ Aberdina Cornelia (Dina) peacefully passed away January 16th, 2007
at the age of 95 years. She will be dearly missed by her family. Children
Rudy, Butch, Bob, Bill, Bonnie, and family spouses. Grandchildren Dean,
Darin, Scott, Kirk, Kris, Terry, Kelly, Michelle, Stacy, Kerry, Serena,
Venetia, and Rick; Great-grandchildren Aubrie, Connor, Lucas, Ryan, Holly,
Keifer, Madison, Sydney, Shaunda,Trevor, TJ (Tyler John), Brodyn, Brooklyn,
Beth, Leah, and her many, many friends. She was born of Dutch citizenship on
a ship on the Rhine on June 22, 1911 and moved, with her young son Rudy,
from Holland to Canada in 1950. In 1951 she married John Nielsen and lived
in Prince George where they were instrumental in the building of Summit Lake
Sawmills, West End Motors, Northern Mountain Helicopters, NT Air, and the
Prince George Golf and Country Club. Her true passion was entertaining, and
her specialty was the Dutch Indonesian dinner. In 1987 she moved to Maple
Ridge where she enjoyed near daily golfing and great friends. In 2002 she
moved to Whitecliffe Retirement Community in White Rock where she avidly
played pool and met many new friends. She will always be remembered for her
zest for life and her unwillingness to become old; the stories of her
numerous exploits will stay warm in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers

Florence was a retired school teacher in Coquitlam and lived in Burnaby. As
a school teacher she has made a difference in many many lives throughout her
career in Saskatchewan, Alberta, B.C. and Whitehorse. She passed away
peacefully in her sleep at the age of 81. Left to cherish her memories are
her loving children Teresa Anderson, Patrick O'Connor and Paulette O'Connor

REID _ Rena Amelia (nee Husband) Beloved mother, grandmother,

SMITH _ Helen "Lena" (nee Thiessen), born in Russia in 1902, died February
7, 2007. She arrived in Canada in 1923 with her parents and 10 brothers and
sisters. A long time resident of West Vancouver, lately of Port Moody.
Predeceased by husband, Ellet, on November 2006. They had been married for
72 years. She leaves to mourn, daughter Marlene Cameron (Dennis), grandsons

cooking and entertaining family and friends. We had many memorable evenings

Region, Ukraine on October 18, 1913 and immigrated to Vancouver in June of
1949. He will be remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years,
Yaroslava Gloria; two sons, Myron (Bev), and Steve (Elaine); his five
grandchildren, Catherine (Brad) Christina, Rebecca, Dane and Emily. Also
dear to his heart were his nieces Luba (Merl) and Vera (Glenn) as well as
numerous nieces and family members in Ukraine. Michael was very proud of his
Ukrainian heritage and equally proud to have made Canada his home. He was a
dedicated and life long contributor to the Ukrainian Canadian Community and
to his church. The family would like to express their special thanks to the
kind and caring staff at Banfield Pavilion where Michael spent the past 12
months. Prayers will be held 7:00 pm, Sunday, February 11 at St. Mary's
Ukrainian Catholic Church, 550 West 14th Ave , Vancouver where Mass of
Christian Burial will be Celebrated, 10:00 am, Monday, February 12, Basilian
Fathers Celebrants. Interment to follow, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Burnaby.

TIMS _ Kathleen "Kitty" Alice (nee Page) Peacefully passed away at Langley
Gardens, Langley, on January 30, 2007 at the age of 94. Wife of the late
John William Tims. Lovingly remembered by her sons Michael a.k.a. AA Bronson
(Mark Krayenhoff), John (Gaye), and her grandchildren Talisa and Keenan.
Kitty grew up in London, UK, where she first married Marcel Quadry, and with
his help began her own business, a hairdressing salon in fashionable Chelsea
in the thirties. Marcel was killed while flying with the Royal Canadian Air
Force during World War II. She subsequently married John (Jack) Tims, his
co-pilot and best friend, and came to Vancouver by boat during the last
months of the war. Jack and Kitty were posted around Canada, from Fort
Nelson on the Alaska Highway to St. Jean d'Iberville outside of Montreal,
eventually leaving the Air Force when the Forces were unified in 1963. For
twenty-five years they ran an apple orchard in the Okanagan Valley, outside
Penticton. Finally they retired to Brentwood Bay on Vancouver Island, where
Jack Tims died in 1988. Kitty's strength, compassion, bravery and humour
continue to be our inspiration. A graveside service will be held at the Ross
Bay Cemetery, Victoria, at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12.

TSOKAS _ Peter March 5th, 1920 - January 27, 2007 Peter came to Canada on
August 15, 1953. After being in the resistance in WWII and taking part in a
civil war that ravaged the country, Peter left a war torn Greece for a new
life in North America where he finally settled in Vancouver, BC. He had a
smile and a kind word for one and all and gained quite a reputation in his
later years as a very good ballroom dancer. On his last day on earth, Peter
went for a nice long drive in his sportscar, returned home where he
peacefully drifted off and like a lone cowboy rode off into the sunset. He
will be remembered by friends, family and loved ones as a private and fiery,
independent person, who would have liked to always be remembered at his
finest hour. Peter's body will be laid to rest in his beloved Pireas, Greece
where his journey began such a long time ago.

UKAI _ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our 86 year
old father, Toyoharu Ukai, early Thursday morning, February 1, 2007. He was
recently predeceased in August 2006, by his loving wife of 58 years Kay (of
Kay's Cleaners). He leaves behind his son, Peter (Yvonne Loppnau) and
daughters, Esther and Sally. We would like to acknowledge the staff of UBCs
Purdy Pavilion-1st floor for all their tender care over the past five years
and especially to Messrs. Peter Tedman and Denis Bazzano for their
companionship and service. A celebration of his life will take place on
Sunday, February 11th , 2007 from 2:30-4:30 pm at 2896 West 15th Avenue. In

WILSON _ Evelyn "Ione" (nee Hodge) affectionately remembered as GG. February
21, 1913 - February 02, 2007 Passed away peacefully with her family at her
side. Predeceased by her parents, Robert and Kathleen; sister Lorraine;
husband Walter and son; Ian. Ione leaves behind her son Douglas and his wife
Margaret. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and daughters-in-law.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Point Grey Private Hospital, the
Doctors and Nurses at VGH Centennial Pavilion 10th floor and for the tender
compassion shown by the Doctors and Nurses at the VGH Palliative care unit.
Also special thanks to the Reverend Brian Vickers, Rector of St. Helens
Anglican Church for the prayers. Also, Doctor Collis Wilson her Family
Physician. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation. Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, February 17th,

WORSTER _ Margaret. Born on January 9, 1913 near Foam Lake, Saskatchewan,
our beloved Tutu died on January 27th, 2007 at the Vancouver General
Hospital. She is survived by her three children Paul (Elizabeth), Gordon
(Juta) and Frances (Peter) and her ten grandchildren Gordon, Geoffrey,
Graeme, Garth, Gavin, Jocelyn, Danielle, Christina, Stephanie and Frances.
Margaret taught at MacDonald School in Vancouver until she married and lived
for many years in Kerrisdale and more recently in Point Grey. She gave many
volunteer hours to Ryerson United Church, to the Kiwassa Club and to the
Girl Guides of Canada. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Frank and
was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. We will remember her wonderful
sense of humour, her love and care for us all and her selfless devotion to
helping others. We will miss her. At Margaret's request there will not be a
service. Memorial donations can be made to the CNIB.
