KING,
Michael Peate
Sadly, on the morning of February 01, 2007, in his 80th year we lost Michael
Peate King. With strength and determination to fight the best fight he
surrendered his spirit to the Lord and passed quietly and peacefully in his
sleep.
By his side for over 55 years he is survived by his loving and devoted wife
Julie who was always there to hold his hand and calm his fears. His
"forever" children son Michael (Sarah) of Chilliwack, daughters Marnie
(Bob) of Langley and Anne (Randy) of Victoria cherished grandchildren
Jeffrey, Leslie, Emily, Casey, Michael and Miles adored great grandchildren
Gabriel, Josephine, Ezekiel , brother Walter of Las Vegas and many much
loved nieces, nephews and godchildren. He is predeceased by his father
Walter mother Marie and his brother Richard.
Michael began his life in Godrich, Ontario. He looked upon life as a great
experience and traveled the road embracing all that life had to offer. A
free spirit at heart he loved to travel was passionate about theatre,
movies, books, bridge and good entertainment and to all that truly knew him,
was a true Frank Sinatra fan.
A self taught business man his career spanned from managing the Famous
Player Theatre in Toronto and then together with his wife and family
became resident managers of various motels in Toronto, California, Victoria
and Kamloops where they settled for 16 years. Always seeking growth they
ventured forth and owned and operated their own business while he also
worked for the Federal Business Development Bank. After selling their
business they settled in Campbell River where they owned and operated the
Rustic Motel until his forced retirement.
His sense of responsibility to the community in which he resided was
apparent and through the years he was actively involved and served as
president to the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and the B.C. Motel
Association. Faithful to the Catholic Church he also served such
organizations as St. Vincent de Paul and Knights of Columbus and generously
contributed to many various charities.
He was a man of strong ethics, a man of honor, commitment and strength. He
was kind, generous, loving and full of humor. A dedicated family man he was
forever surrounded by a wealth of family and friends.
>From all of those who have admired, respected and loved him we were blessed
to have had him in our lives. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered
and always in our hearts.
Thank you to the nurses and doctors who throughout the years have exercised
knowledge, compassion and care. To all those who have shared their time,
their support and their love we are grateful and blessed.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions to the Diabetes
Foundation would be appreciated.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic
Church in Campbell River, B.C. on Tuesday, February 6th, 2007 with Father
William MacDonald O.M.I. celebrant.
