familiar voice that welcomed me home "HEY BABE" that was followed by that
big grin and sparkling eyes. Today recalls the memories of a great man gone.

JACOBSEN _ Carl, passed away peacefully on February 19th, 2007 at Lions Gate
Hospital, North Vancouver in his 74th year. The youngest of three children,
Carl was born February 26th, 1932 in Oslo, Norway to parents Ivar and Edith.
In 1955 he married Patricia (nee Ewart) and was happily married for almost
52 years. They have three children, John (Jaclyn), Kari and Lisa and six
grandchildren, Michael, Jodie, Brian, Allan, James and Kelly. He is
predeceased by his brother Hans, survived by his sister, Vesla,
brother-in-law Finn, six nieces and a nephew. In 1952, on the advice of his
father who thought it would be wise for young Carl to learn to speak the
French language, he immigrated to Canada. He found his way to Kitimat, where
he began his first job in his new country. He moved to Vancouver in 1953 to
take a job with B.W. Greer & Son, marking the beginning of a lengthy career
in the shipping business. He then worked with Griffiths Steamship Co. until
forming his own company, Vanport Shipping. Business took him all over the
world, meeting people and forming friendships that lasted a lifetime. Carl
was highly respected, and enjoyed a long and satisfying career until his
retirement in 1997. He was a member and Past President of the Terminal City
Club, and a member of the Vancouver Club, places where many of his
friendships and business relationships were forged. Golf was one of his most
enjoyable pursuits; he played regularly as a member of the Capilano Golf
Club since 1971. Carl also enjoyed his frequent trips to fishing camps on
the northern coast of BC, where salmon can now breathe a sigh of relief!
Carl fought through two heart attacks and bypass surgery. The experience
introduced him to the West Vancouver YMCA Pump Primers exercise group. Carl
participated in sessions three times each week for over twenty five years.
Their friendship and support helped Carl to recover and maintain his health,
allowing him to enjoy the gift of many years to enjoy friends, family and
his favourite activities. Carl and his family would like to thank Dr. Peter
Graff and the staff at Lions Gate Hospital who showed care and compassion
during his visits for transfusions and later, palliative care. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests donations are made to: Leukemia, Lymphoma

KANE _ James Geoffrey September 12, 1947 - February 18, 2007 Peacefully,
surrounded and supported by family, Geoff Kane passed away in Surrey on
February 18, 2007. He is survived by his adoring wife and best pal Georgina
(Moxam); father to Jenn Feuermann (Fred), Melissa McConchie (Roger),
Catharine and Michael; Lorna Kane, mother of their children, grandfather to
Baden Feuermann; brother to Greg (Adrian Burns) and Catharine Blacker;
favorite uncle to Graeme (Melissa), Adam, and Oliver Kane, Sarah and Emily
Blacker. He was deeply loved by the entire Moxam family. Indeed Geoff was
truly loved by all. He wasn't just a friend, he was a best friend. He loved
life and took obvious delight in everything he did. Geoff was a prominent
litigation lawyer in his day job. Along with lifelong professional partners
Cliff Shannon and William Weiler, he founded the law firm Kane, Shannon and
Weiler in 1973. Today it is the largest firm in the Lower Mainland. Geoff's
gardening hobby was one of his passions. He designed, planted and nurtured
magnificent gardens at his home in Delta and won a national gardening award
for the garden he developed at his home in Surrey. But his real joy was his
home and garden on Pender Island. He purchased the Pender home shortly after
being diagnosed with cancer and it proved to be a refuge for Geoff and
Georgina. The magnificence of the garden he created from a bare patch of
land is a testament to the magnificence of his own life and will be a living
memorial to him. When Geoff was diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma-a rare
form of non-Hodgkins disease-he responded with the fearless zeal of a true
litigator. He researched extensively and became so knowledgeable that
specialists in the field commented that he probably knew more than many
medical practitioners. He then set about sharing his knowledge serving as a
volunteer to speak to cancer support groups and to raise money for cancer
research. Just 10 days before his death he mustered all of his strength and
courage to attend a fundraising dinner at Sabatino's Restaurant entitled,
"Geoff Kane's Caring for Cancer "that raised $100,000 for his special
project. It is Geoff's wish that in lieu of flowers, friends can send a
donation by going to www.bccancerfoundation.com/caringforcancer . It was
also Geoff's wish that sincere thanks be extended to the many medical
personnel who assisted him throughout his cancer and palliative care. His
family can't thank enough Dr Richard Klasa, Dr Werner Spenghel (who took
time away from his own family to visit Geoff) and the incredibly dedicated
nurses on the 6th floor of the Chemotherapy ward at the BC Cancer Clinic,
especially Wilkie who could always find a vein! And Geoff's final wish: "Go
Canucks Go"! A celebration of Geoff's life will be held on February 24, 2007
from 4 to 7 pm at Northview Golf Club & Country Club, 6857--168 St, Surrey,
British Columbia.
