Jonathan Daniel Briggs January 19, 1984 - February 25, 2006 I remember you.
Sweet child, so dear to my body We shared womb, soul and life. Walked, for a
time, in tandem on this journey. I remember you. In the light that was your
joy The warmth that was your spirit In the glow you exuded, that enveloped
me... I remember The ease with which you smiled The sparkle in your eye Your
mischief, your passion, the recklessness of Young life lived for the moment.
When I see a small towheaded boy My heart is lifted For in that child's
laugh, that tinkles sweetly in my ears I remember you. I remember the days
when lilacs bloomed on trees so tall In relation to our small stature, their
perfume Curling around us as we played in the sunshine Little hands
grabbing, doing, seizing the day. I remember the innocence, the smell of hay
The whinny of a horse, fur so soft under awkward pats with pudgy fingers The
music and musk of animals and summer heat While we carried on oblivious to
an adult clock. I remember how the time was endless then The beauty of our
childhood when the days were long And aging was so far out of our
consideration. I remember just being, and being with you. I remember you.
(by sister Laura) our eternal love. Parents, Ted & Leigh Ann Littlewood, Dan
and Carol Briggs, Sisters, Brothers, Family and Friends.

BRINE _ Marion Eleanor Brine (nee Copp) March 29, 1925 - February 15, 2007
Marney was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Percy (John) and Mary Copp
shortly before settling in New Westminster where she was raised and attended
school at Herbert Spencer and Duke of Connaught. She completed her B.A. at
UBC in 1946. It was here that she met Ralph Brine, the love of her life, as
she pulled him through Latin class. Their marriage of over 50 years produced
5 children, 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren (so far). Marney and
Ralph's married life was rich with strong friendships, travel adventures and
community ties. Marney was a strong supportive partner in a large busy
family. Together, she and Ralph raised their family in Burnaby and led their
children on many outdoor adventures through the fifties and sixties which,
at the time, pushed the edge of the envelope of family experiences and
included canoeing the Bowron Lakes, surfing the West Coast, exploring the
gulf islands, skiing at Mt. Baker and many, many hiking trips. Her
volunteerism with the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels and the Galiano Thrift shop
and Medical clinic were just a few ways that she contributed to her
community. Mum will be remembered as a traditional homemaker of a bygone era
who supported her family in all their endeavours. Their dreams became hers.
To keep astride of her family, Marney became an accomplished golfer, sailor,
canoeist, hiker, editor and duplicate bridge player. She was also the one
who put together yearly Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts for 30 and made it
look so easy. In retirement, she and Ralph moved to Galiano Island to raise
sheep and to become involved in the community life of island living. After
Ralph's death in 1997, Marney, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, lived, at
Buchanan Lodge in New Westminster. The Brine family are so very grateful to
the loving staff of Buchanan for their exemplary care of Marney and for
their love and support especially during her final hours. Marney leaves her
legacy of love with her family, David (Robin), Terry (Brenda), Steve, Janet
(Bill), Rick (Allane); her grandchildren. who carry with them wonderful
memories of 'life on the farm' Steven (Laura), Travis (Laura), Cameron
(Stacy), Andrew, Jeremy, Matthew (Lisa), Christopher, Kylie, Eva, David,
Annie, Michael, Lauren and Hunter; her great-grandchildren Max, Hannah,
Spencer and Nash who will know their great-grandmother through the family
stories. A family memorial will be held at a later date. Columbia-Bowell

character, strength, and will to give to all those that knew him. He was
born in Regina, Saskatchewan where he earned his degree before moving West
to embark on a teaching career and start a family. Gene was a highly
respected teacher and coach enjoying a long and successful career with his
students until his retirement. His passion for hockey leaves a lasting
impression for the many friendships he forged both on and off the ice. Those
he has left behind are forever grateful for what he has given us. He is
survived by his loving son Randall, sisters Judy and Janet, brother Fred
(Cheryl) and the rest of the family who will miss him dearly. The family
would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to all the incredibly dedicated
doctors and nurses who came to know him and help him with his struggle, as
well as his close friends that were a part of his journey. In lieu of
flowers, donations can be made to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation. A
celebration and remembrance of Gene's life for all he touched will be held
on Tuesday, February 27 at 2:00 pm at the Forest Lawn Funeral Chapel at 3789
Royal Oak Avenue in Burnaby, appropriately close to where he gave his life
to teach. You are a statue of strength for all that were close to you. You
will be forever missed but always remain a part of us.
