BEECH _ David Arthur April 21, 1928 - March 19, 2007 It is with sadness that
we announce the death of our beloved husband, brother and friend. David was
predeceased by his mother and father Beatrice and Roy Beech (Capt RCN RTD)
and his sister, Marjorie. He leaves his wife of 51 years, Faith and his
sister Joanne together with nephews Michael May and Rodney May (Noella) and
their children Sarica and Eric and his cousin and friend John Napier-Hemy
(Amy). David's school years were at University School in Victoria and St.
George's in Vancouver. After graduation from the University of Manitoba in
Winnipeg, he returned to British Columbia and made Vancouver his home.
Eventually his profession saw him transferred to Toronto where he became
somewhat of a celebrity, appearing on television and radio as an authority
on colour. His wit and engaging personality shone through from time to time
as he succumbed to Alzheimer's Disease. Thank you to all his friends who
stood by so courageously and thanks to so many kind and caring staff at
Inglewood Care Centre - the hardest job in the world. A service and
interment of his ashes will be held Thursday, March 29 at 1:00 p.m. at St.
Martin's Church, North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers donations to the
Alzheimer's Society would be gratefully received.

GROOS _ Phyllis Elizabeth "Pep" (Pooley) January 30, 1919 - March 21, 2007
Although we all hoped to keep her forever, in the early hours of March 21,
2007, the first day of Spring, we unexpectedly bid adieu to our wonderful
mother, Nanya, Auntie Pep and dear friend, Pep Groos. Predeceased by her
husband, Captain David Groos (1976) and her sister, Daphne, Pep will be
sorely missed by all who enjoyed her grace and warmth. We, her family,
children Laura Groos Prins (Gerry), Madeleine Humer, Brian Groos and Hilary
Bungarten (Harald) and grandchildren David (Erin) and Emma Blewett, Saskia
(Wolfi) and Patrick Humer, and Marc Laura Bungarten will miss having our
"matriarch" play her usual active role in our lives. A third generation
Esquimalt resident, youngest daughter of BC Attorney General and BC
Conservative Party Leader R. H. "Harry" Pooley and his musician wife, Laura
Loewen. Mum's roots ran deep in Victoria. In her younger years Pep loved her
horse-riding and grass hockey while at Norfolk House School, later heading
to France to study, returning to the West Coast immediately before the
Second World War. As a navy wife, mother and later, wife of the Member of
Parliament for Victoria, she quietly contributed to the Victoria community,
supporting the arts, including the Victoria Conservatory of Music, the
Victoria Music Festival and recently the Victoria Children's Choir. After
losing Dad far too early, she became the ideal "Nanya" to her 6
grandchildren, visiting them around the world. Active right up to her death,
she created a home and garden setting where there was always a warm welcome
to her extended family of friends of all ages. A life well-lived by one
well-loved. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mum's memory would be
gratefully received by the David and Pep Groos Fund for the Arts in Victoria
through the Victoria Foundation, (250) 381-5532. A Celebration of Pep's life
will be held at Christ Church Cathedral (Victoria), Quadra and Rockland, at
11 a.m. Friday March 30th
