FERREIRA, Angelo Born in Coimbra, Portugal, May 11, 1939, passed away March
31, 2007 after a brave battle with cancer. Angelo was the owner of Fast Lane
Collision body shop in Victoria. He leaves to mourn his wife, Conceicao, of
48 years, and his daughter, Maria Almeida, and son-in-law, Jose Almeida. A
funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 5 at 2 pm at First Memorial,
4725 Falaise Drive, interment at Royal Oak Mausoleum. Reception to follow.

GREEN, Arthur E. (Art) Passed away in Duncan, B.C. on March 28, 2007. Art
was born in Port Alice, B.C. on April 25, 1918. He grew up in Quatsino, B.C.
with a few years in Victoria. After working on the Hydrographic Survey, he
served with the Royal Canadian Navy (Fisherman's Reserve) during World War
II, finishing with the rank of Lieutenant. He married Lorraine Williams of
South Wellington in 1942. They moved to Chemainus in 1948 to the property on
Fuller Lake, where they spent the rest of their lives (Lorraine passed away
in 2005). Art worked in logging for many years, primarily at Copper Canyon,
retiring in 1981. For many years he was part of the executives of the
Chemainus Credit Union, the Mt. Brenton Golf Club and IWA Local 1-80. He
also had a long involvement with youth bowling and the Variety Club Bowling
for Kids. He is survived by children Mary-Ann, Frank and Bill; sister Amy
Hegglund; brothers George (Daphne) and Bill (Irene); brothers-in-law Bob
Williams (Bev) and Ray Battie and sister-in-law Gladys Williams; 7
grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a large extended family of nieces
and nephews. A memorial service will be on Thursday April 5, 2006 at 2:00 pm
in the chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services 375 Brae Rd., Duncan. In
lieu of flowers donations to the Variety Club or a charity of your choice

SERVICE CORRECTION HAMILTON, Arnold Fredrick September 8, 1932 March 28,
2007 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, and friend
Arnold passed away suddenly on March 28, 2007 at Brentwood Bay. He leaves
his loving wife of 53 years, Beverlee, his children, Susan Bing (Chris),
Wendy Anderson (Gary) and Todd Hamilton (Luanne); his dear grandchildren,
Olivia Bing, D'arcy Anderson (Lindsay) and Devon Anderson; and his
great-granddaughter, Jamie, who brought much joy to his life. Arnold was
employed by B.C. Cement at Bamberton for 28 years where he worked initially
as a heavy duty mechanic and then as shop foreman. When the Bamberton plant
closed, he started his own tool sales business and, after 14 years, began a
long and happy retirement. He was very excited about a planned cruise of the
Amalfi Coast of Italy this July. Arnold grew up in Brentwood Bay with the
exception of one year when he lived at Bamberton during Grade 1. He had a
great interest and knowledge of sports cars and owned quite a few over the
years. He was also a founding member of the Victoria Motorsport Club of
Victoria. Above all else, family was very important to Arnold. He taught, by
example, that kindness, honesty and integrity are what really counts. He was
a very special man. We will love and miss him forever. We appreciate all of
the efforts made by the Ambulance Service, Central Saanich Fire Dept. all of
the many doctors, nurses and staff at both The Saanich Peninsula Hospital
and The Royal Jubilee Hospital, Cardiac Care Unit. A private family burial
will be held. A Celebration of Arnold's life will be held at 12:00 noon,
Friday, April 6, 2007 at Glen Meadows Golf and Country Club, 1050 McTavish
Rd., Sidney, B.C. No flowers please. If so desired a donation to the Heart

HEIM, Barbara Anne On March 31, 2007 at the Victoria General Hospital
following a brief illness. Predeceased by her brother, James, Barbara is
remembered by her cousins, Donna-Lee and Ross; and her many Air Canada
associates. Barbara worked with Air Canada from inception, retiring in 1982.
She volunteered at Oak Bay Lodge until her 80th birthday. Family and friends
may pay their respects at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver
Streets on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funeral
service will be held at ST. LUKE'S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 3801 Cedar Hill X Rd. on
Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be

JONES, Daniel Louis May 13, 1937, Port Renfrew, BC March 30, 2007, Victoria,
BC Predeceased by daughter, Deborah (Lisa); parents, Charles "Queesto"
(Ida); and 9 siblings. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife,
Donna; daughters, Dorothy (Shorty), Pamela, Tracy (Bear) Charlie, Dorothy
Leanne; sons, Gerald, Leon, and Eddie; 5 grandchildren, 2
great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles "Queesto" (Roberta), Pally (Thelma)
Dick; sister, Edith Joseph; nieces, nephews, and many friends. A logger in
Port Renfrew for over forty years, Danny loved fishing and hunting. He was a
strong, friendly man with a good sense of humour who will be missed deeply.
Prayers 7 pm Tuesday, April 3 at the Port Renfrew School Gym with a Funeral
Service 10:00 am Wednesday, April 4, 2007 from the school gym. Lunch will be

BC Stacey is predeceased by her biological mother Cynthia Thomas and is
survived by her mother Adelaine Jack, father David Jones, daughter Cynthia
Jones, sisters Danna, Ada, Candice, Norah, Kristene and Linae, brothers
Richard, Kyle and James, Grandma Jenny, Grandpa Clifford, grandparents Norah
and Marvin. Stacey Girl will be remembered for her contagious laugh and shy

KERNACHAN, John Henry February 7, 1954 March 31, 2007 John passed away after
a 5-month struggle with an aggressive form of brain tumour. His quiet way
will be missed by all who knew him, and he will be fondly remembered for his
passions his family, music, sailing, soccer, making blackberry wine, old
cars, thrift stores, and workplace safety. Predeceased by his father Jack,
John leaves his loving family: wife Marjorie, son Vaughan and daughters Nova
(Charbel) and Chelsea (Christophe); his mother Irene, and sisters Cathy
(Henry), Karen (Doug) and Jayne. A celebration of John's life will be held
at Deep Cove Elementary School, 10975 West Saanich Rd., 1:00 PM on Saturday,

KOHNEN, Carley Janelle September 20, 1993 March 29, 2007 Beloved daughter of
Chris and Brenda Kohnen passed away tragically at Summit Park, Victoria on
Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the age of 13, in the company of many of her
close friends. Carley will be sorely missed by her loving parents,
grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family as well as her
large circle of friends. We would like to thank the emergency response crew
and the staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital for trying to save our little girl.
Visitation will be held in MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver
Streets, on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 from 6:30 pm 8:30 pm. A Celebration of

McNABB, Foster Irwin Born in Manitoba on May 4, 1924 Foster passed away in
Victoria on March 30, 2007. He is survived by his beloved companion, Alice;
10 brothers and sisters as well as numerous nieces and nephews. During the
Second World War Foster served with the Manitoba Dragoons in Europe. After
the war, Foster spent many years designing and constructing homes and
townhomes in the Greater Toronto area. Funeral service will be held at
McCALL'S SEQUOIA GARDENS MEMORIAL, 4665 Falaise Drive, on Wednesday, April
4, 2007 with interment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park. As an expression
of sympathy, a donation in Fosters' memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation

OWEN, Lester Edward (Pancho-Feel-Ya) Born September 26th, 1934. Passed away
March 29th, 2007. Peacefully after years of battling complications with
Diabetes. Les will be sadly missed by his many family and friends. A

SONNEX, Carol Sadly, a devoted mother has passed away. She leaves to mourn
her cherished twins Thomas and Charmaine, extended family and dear friends.
The pets, Peter, Bond and The Cats will dearly miss her. Carol was
predeceased by her parents and Kelly Cox, the father of her children. A
life-long activist, her accomplishments include the foundation of a woman's
safe house in Lake Cowichan and years of animal rescue. She was a valued
employee of the CRD Animal Shelter and a powerful force in the Greater
Victoria Animals' Crusaders (GVAC). Her children would treasure written
memories of their mother for their scrapbooks. In lieu of flowers, a trust
fund has been set up for the children. Donations can be sent to The Carol

WICKS, Phyllis Muriel March 12, 1911 March 28, 2007 Passed away peacefully
at Oak Bay Lodge. Born in London, England, she settled in Victoria, British
Columbia after many visits to her children whom immigrated to Canada in the
1960's. She is predeceased by husbands Burt Russell, Leslie Wicks and
long-time companion Geoffry Mortimore as well as six sisters and her son
Ronald Russell. Survived by daughter Joyce Russell, daughter-in-law Sandra
MacMillan, grandchildren Daniel Russell, Lisa Duplessie and Angie Russell,
great-grandchild Kiana, and best friend Beverly. Phyllis had a lively
spirit, with her humour intact even in her last days. Her loving, sweet and
charitable nature will be missed by her family and her many friends. 354999

ZOHNER, Shelley Marie December 11, 1969 March 11, 2007 It is with great
sadness and many tears that we announce the sudden passing of Shelley,
beloved daughter, sister, mother and friend. She leaves behind three sons,
Kyle, Cody and Keefer, parents Les and Maureen Zohner, siblings Connie, Lee
(Marita) and Karen (Ray), plus many other family members. Funeral services
were held in Powell River, March 19th. A celebration of Shelley's life will
be held in Victoria at 7pm, April 12, at Lambrick Park Church, 1780 Feltham
Rd. Donations can be made in Shelley's name to the MS Society of Victoria.
