DAVEY _ Jack Forsyth March 7, 1922 - April 10, 2007 It is with heavy hearts
and sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved Jack on Tuesday, April
10th in Vancouver, BC after a long battle with Parkinson's. Jack was born in
Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on March 7, 1922. In 1940 he joined the RCN as a

Trenton, Ontario in 1971. Jack's life-long dream was to have his own
hardware business and together with his wife and son he realized that dream
by opening Whistler Hardware in 1979 and was a pioneer of this now
world-class ski resort. Jack's quick witted humor, strong character and
magnetic personality were felt by everyone who knew him. He was an
inspiration to us all as he truly represented all the good things in life.
All those who have met and loved him remarked on the "twinkle in his eye".
Jack is survived by his beloved wife Hilda and they recently celebrated 62
years of marriage. Travel, and golf were their passions and together they

Mr. V.K. Eddie Hsu (10 May 1905 Shanghai - 01 April 2007 Vancouver) Having
immigrated to Vancouver at a ripe age of 91, VK Eddie's life history spanned
a monumental portion of modern day China. He witnessed tumultuous upheavals
in the region and around the world, such as the fall of the last Chinese
imperial dynasty to a new born republic state, World War I, Great
Depression, Sino-Japanese War, World War II, Chinese Civil War, Korean War,
Cuban Missile Crisis, Cultural Revolution, etc. Even his arrival to
Vancouver in 1996 was brought on by the impending handover of
British-controlled Hong Kong to the People's Republic of China in 1997 - a
milestone which was part of a treatise dating back to the First Opium War in
the late 1800's. VK Eddie was the first born son of the late Mr. Charles
Eddie Hsu, a visionary entrepreneur who recognized the importance of Western
thinking. VK Eddie graduated from St. Francis Xavier College in Shanghai in
1924. His western style education and proficiency in the English language
helped him well later in his career, which was established during his life
in Shanghai, Taipei, and ultimately Hong Kong. Under hard economic
conditions he was able to protect, sustain, and nurture his father's
business of deep sea shipping, which, by international standards, was both
reputable and successful. VK Eddie married Mai-Chuen Wu in 1925 and had one
daughter and four sons, who now live in different parts of the world. He
lived to witness the birth of his great-great grandson, which represents a
"five-generation" gathering, rarely seen in this modern age. VK Eddie was a
man of discipline merged with compassion, frugality combined with
generosity, and pragmatism met with integrity. His accomplishment in life
included not only in his business achievements but also the people with whom
he has left an indelible memory through the unwavering indebtedness to his
benefactors, loyalty to his brethren, and compassion to the needy. After
moving to Vancouver, VK Eddie was an active philanthropist, establishing the
VK Eddie Hsu Foundation, and contributing regularly to St. Paul's Hospital,
SUCCESS, BC Children's Hospital, as well as other charitable organizations
and various churches around the lower mainland. Funeral services will be
held at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Burnaby at 10:00 am on Saturday 14
April, 2007. Flowers are gratefully declined, but donations can be made to
"VK Eddie Hsu Foundation" and posted to 1500 - 1111 West Georgia St.,
Vancouver, BC V6E 4M3.

HUNTER _ Dr. Darrel Wilson, B.A, DDS. June 8, 1934 - April 8, 2007. Proud to
be one of the "Rain People" Darrel was born and raised with his twin brother
in the remote community of Ocean Falls, B.C. He worked summers in the pulp
mill and on the logging booms of Ocean Falls while completing a B.A. at UBC.
In 1961, he and his brother Bryant both completed dental degrees; becoming
the first twins to graduate from the same dental class at the University of
Toronto. Darrel started his career traveling to Northern B.C. for the
government and then set up practice in Richmond along side his twin brother.
>From 1968 - 1973, during his early career and births of his four children,
he took leaves of absence to work in Northern Manitoba and the N.W.T. The
family eventually settled in South Surrey and he continued his practice in
Richmond until his retirement in 1989. His gentleness as a dentist was well
regarded by all his patients. Dad had a wicked sense of humor and could
engage an audience with his master storytelling skills. He enjoyed his final
years at the family home in South Surrey, tinkering around his yard and
shop; walking his dogs; and admiring his latest "gem" from the local flea
market. He is survived by his children; Iain (Monique), Leah (Greg), Andrew
(Laura), and Kevin (Marlene) and his grandchildren; Anthony, Hunter, Samuel,
Austin, Joshua, Georgia, and Dominique. A private graveside burial will be
held on April 17th, 2007 with an open house reception celebrating his life

many loyal clients and friends who were with him for 45 years. He was always
grateful and touched by those who supported him over the years. Jim and Ev

neighbours over the years as, Dad was fond of saying, "the waves got
higher". We all know Dad had a great sense of humour and even through his

Dad! A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Capilano Golf &

RUDDICK _ Kenneth James Wilson October 23, 1919 - April 1, 2007 "Some will
be remembered for what they said. Others will be remembered for what they
did. The special will be remembered for who they were." Author, Jim Slinsky
A wonderful Father and one of the best known fly fisherman in B.C., passed
away April 1st after spending a sunny spring day working on his property in
Stave Falls. He left the life he loved in his own way_a hard days work and a
brief stay in hospital. His entire life was an on-going adventure. Ken owned
and operated 2 logging companies, piloted his own plane, served for many
years as a Mission District Alderman and raised Apaloosa horses. He was a
man who believed "almost anything is possible." To prove his point, he
founded Ruddick's Fly Shop, went to BCIT in his 60s where he earned his log
scaling license and in his 80s he installed his own spring fed water system,
learned to use a computer and continued his passion to experiment with new
fly patterns. We will always remember his many fishing stories and his
uncanny ability to catch fish when no one else could. His appreciation for
nature will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. Begonias,
hummingbirds, cherry blossoms, and the call of the loon brought him renewed
joy every year. He loved the simple every day miracles, but most of all, he
loved his family. Ken was predeceased by his parents Vera and William
Ruddick, brothers Weldon and Bruce, and his wife Vera in 2005, whom he cared
for with incredible dedication. He leaves to celebrate his life, his 5
children: Cheryle Macdonald (John), Karyn Ruddick, Ken Ruddick (Ruth),
Malcolm Ruddick (Kathy), Heather Anderson; his grandchildren, Jennifer
Armour (Stuart), Beth Kennard (Jason), Coral Anderson, Crystal Anderson,
Kristina Ruddick, Jamie Ruddick, and 3 great-grandchildren, Brodie, Brandon
and Shelby. Also, his sister Betty Talbot (Lorry), brother Ron Ruddick
(Mary), sister-in-law Shirley Ruddick, and many close relatives and friends.

Course, 19675 Meadow Gardens Way, Pitt Meadows (604-465-5474) on Sunday,

STRUKOFF _ Harry Born June 25, 1938 in Grand Forks, BC. Passed away
peacefully on April 4, 2007 after a short battle with cancer. Survived by
his three children Kathy, Julie, and Richard; granddaughter Jazmine;
brothers John (Liz), Bill (Phyllis), and half-brother Nick, as well as many
nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by parents
Peter and Florence and brother Sam. Harry moved to Vancouver in 1955 where
he attended carpentry classes. In 1959 he chose a career on the Waterfront
spending many of those years at the Fraser Surrey Docks until his retirement
in July 2000. Over the years his hobbies included curling, hockey, fishing,
and golf. "What a Life" - Harry was a man who loved his children, his
granddaughter, his brothers, and all his nieces and nephews and people in
general. He was passionate about his boat, fishing, and golfing. Harry was
well known for his cooking, especially the barbecued salmon. He liked a good
glass of wine with a cigar and spending an evening socializing. The funny
thing is - Harry's home in North Delta was his mailing address, but he
thought of his real home as Blythe, CA in the winter and Pender Harbour as
his home in the summer. A toast to a guy - his love of life, his love of
family and friends, his love of laughter, his love of spirit and
frolic....his love. Please join the family to share in a "Celebration of
Harry's Life", Sunday, April 22, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Greek Village
Restaurant at 7953-120 Street, North Delta. This will be a casual gathering
to share stories, memories, and laughs of all the goods times we shared and
how Harry touched our lives. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be
made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Royal Columbian Hospital
Foundation.
