passed, it has gone by fast But you are forever in our hearts. The memories

CHISHOLM, Dan Andrew He was born in Victoria on August 15, 1917 and died on
March 8, 2007. In the middle 1930's he worked on the C.P.R.'s Princess Norah
on the Alaska run to Skagway, and the West Coast run to Port Alice. Next
came the C.I.L.'s explosive division on James Island. He was a decorated
Veteran of World War II. Joining the R.C.A. of the Canadian army, he went
overseas on the Queen Mary to Britain. Later he saw military service in
Normandy, the French ports of Boulogne, Calais and Dunkirk, then in Holland
and Germany. He returned to Canada on the big French liner, the Ile. de
France. A few years after the war, he went back to England to live in London
for 16 years. He was employed by the International Wool Secretariat. He
loved the pomp, pageantry, and politics of London. His interests were
walking, reading, listening to big band music of the 1930's and 40's and
watching rugby games. He liked animals. He is survived by his sister Olive
Sherwood, and a niece and nephew in Vancouver. Cremation and no service by

CONNORS, Lilian Louise (nee Dobbie) Died peacefully in Duncan Hospital Feb.
3, 2007. Born Feb. 19, 1922, she was predeceased by both her parents, her
husband, two nephews and one grandson. Lilian is survived by all her six
children, eight grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren,
and a few nephews and nieces. Her children, listed from eldest, say goodbye
for a time with love and respect: Diana Cummings & family, L. Jane Rhodes &
family, George E. Connors, Donald Connors (Catherine Dueck) and family,
Delmarie Crandall (David), Vivian Drew (J. Gregory) and family. Lilian was
born and lived much of her life in Esquimalt, B.C., a few places during
W.W.II, residing next for 27 years on her beloved Protection Island and
spent her last few years in Duncan. She touched in her neigbourhoods and her
travels many people throughout B.C. especially, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nova
Scotia and the Yukon. They were blessed with her humble and forthright
attitude, her loving nature and her inate curiosity for newness. One who
praised God as a nature lover above all, Lilian was also a fiercely
independent woman and a great source of strength to all who turned to her.
Heaven is a greater force with her presence. 357266

CONSTABLE, Ruth Merkley Passed away peacefully in Duncan on April 2, 2007
after a short illness. Ruth was a remarkable woman who kept her wicked sense
of humour until the end. She was a domestic wonder and talented at
everything she tackled. She loved ice cream, was a registered nurse, won
cooking contests, sewed furiously, took the family on extraordinary picnics,
spent many happy hours in her garden and always had a project or two on the
go. Dad used to say, If it doesn't move, Mom will paint it." Mom has packed
up her paint brushes and left us to start a new project. Predeceased by
William, her husband of 58 years in 2003. Left to cherish their memories are
her daughter Karen (John) Blitterswyk, sons Keith; Ken (Zeny). Grandchildren
David (Gloria) Blitterswyk, Eric (Rachel) Blitterswyk; James and Kalie
Constable; Nadine (Joseph) Fayad, Jeff (Sadie) Constable.
Great-grandchildren Dyson Blitterswyk; Adrianna, Raisa, Erica and Kevin
Blitterswyk; Jordan Fayad and Noah Constable. Thanks to the wonderful
caregivers at the Cowichan District Hospital and a heartfelt thank you to
the caring staff at the Cowichan Lodge, a place that Mom called home for the

CUNNINGHAM, Darwin Wayne Peacefully on March 30, 2007 in Victoria, at the
age of 54 years. He is survived by his mother, Phoebe; his daughter; his
aunts, uncles, many cousins and friends. Darwin was a very strong
individual, having dealt with Dialysis for over 31 years. He was a loving
and generous person who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Many
thanks to Drs. Anton and Sealey, and the Nurses and staff at the Royal
Jubilee Kidney Unit for their care and compassion. A Service of Remembrance
will be conducted from MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver
Streets, on Tuesday, April 17th at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, tributes,

ETCHES, Robert Craven Robert (Bob) passed away suddenly at his home in
Victoria, on April 11, 2007 at the age of 82 years. He was born in Keremeos,
BC on April 20, 1924. Survived by his loving wife and best friend Lilian
(Lil) and his pride and greatest joy, daughter Karen and son-in-law Peter
Paterson. Lovingly remembered by his sisters Norma Lockwood (Harold) and
Helen Jean Neil, sisterin-law Evelyn Oakley, brother-in law Elmer Curtis
(Maxine) and their families, many cousins and friends. Robert was a Corporal
with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps during World War II, stationed in
France. He was an electrician at HMC Dockyard, Shop 25, for over 30 years,
retiring in 1980. Robert enjoyed hockey, curling and his garden. He loved
his family & truly treasured his wife. All who knew him would attest to his
strength of spirit and determination. He enjoyed life and was an
inspiration. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A gathering of
family and friends to celebrate Robert's life will be held at the Delta
Victoria Ocean Point, Songhees Suite, 45 Songhees Road, on April 15, 2007 at
2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke
Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Foundation or a charity of your choice.

FRANKLIN, Olive Josephine (nee Mair) Born in James Bay Victoria November 24,
1926, passed away at home, peacefully in her sleep, April 11, 2007. Olive
will be sadly missed by her husband Len of 51 years, daughter Denise
(Jerome) Beauchamp of Williams Lake and son Eric (Gail). Three loving
grandchildren, Tracey, Ashley and Raeyden, nephew Jim Mair of Victoria, life
long friend Thelma and many close family and friends. Throughout her life,
Olive was an active participant with a variety of sports teams and has
always kept busy involved with some activity. Her most favourite were, early
morning fishing out in the Bay and puttering in her garden. The family would
like to extend a very warm thank you to Dr. Bill Cavers and staff for their
friendship, care and compassion over the years. At Ollie's request, there
will be no services held. If so desired, donations may be made to the

GRIFFIN, Magdelene (Maudie) January 31, 1906 April 13, 2007 Magdelene (nee
Robertson) was born at Shawnigan Lake of a pioneer family. Predeceased by
her husband Eric of 56 years. Brothers are Ted, Pete and sisters Polly and
Anne. She is survived by her son Robert (Julie) of Princeton, three
grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
Auntie Maude will be remembered by her many nieces and nephews. She will be
sadly missed by her friends. The family would like to thank the caring staff
at RP1/RJH. Special thanks to South Victoria Homecare staff. A Memorial
Service will be held Monday, April 16 at 10 a.m. at First Memorial Funeral

GUPPY, Walter Born April 7, 1918 Walter passed away quietly at St. Joseph's
Hospital in Comox, B.C. on April 5, 2007. He was predeceased by his wife
Olive in September, 2001. Walter is survived by his son Gavin, Denman
Island; daughter Karen Tickell (Rob), Courtenay; grandchildren Erin, Lauren
and Neil Grumbach; brothers Anthony (Mavis) and Arthur. Walter had been a
resident of Tofino since 1921. There he worked as an electrical contractor,
did mineral prospecting in the wilderness areas, and later in life began
writing books about his historical knowledge and experiences on Vancouver
Island, in particular the west coast. During the second World War Walter
served in the Canadian Forestry Corps in Britain, Belgium and Germany. He
was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Walter moved to the Comox
Valley in December 2004 to be near his family. A Celebration of Life will be
held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 65 in Tofino on Saturday, May 5,
2007 from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of

TRACEY, Blake Herbert Born April 9, 1933 Passed Away on March 19, 2007 Blake
passed away peacefully at the age of 73 and has joined his loving wife
Pudgy. He will be lovingly remembered by his step-daughters Anne (Blair) and
Donna (Dave) and his four grandchildren who knew him as PaPa, Stephanie,
Cameron, Sandy and Danny. His brothers Gerald (Gisela), Guy (Myrna) and his
sisters Bernadine (Max), Jean (Hank, deceased) and Verna (Arthur). Blake was
a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force where he learned his trade as an
aircraft technician. He took his trade and worked for Viking Air for many
years then completed his career with Vancouver Island Helicopter. We are
extremely grateful for the care given to Blake at the Saanich Peninsula
Hospital by Dr. George and all the nurses on ECU #1. Because of their
exceptional care, we will always be grateful. A Memorial Service will be
held at St. John's The Baptist Church in Colwood, BC. To get there, Sooke
road, turn right on Mount View, right on Yeta Terrace, left on Glenn Cairn,
April 19, 2007 at 2:00 pm followed by refreshments in the hall. Flowers

WONG, So Hing 1945 2007 After a short courageous battle with cancer, So Hing
passed away with her family at her side on April 11, 2007. Survived by her
husband Chun, son Mark (Luanne), daughters; Mabel (Herman), Jeanette
(Willie), as well as her four grandchildren and her brother Mok Chu Chup.
Sadly missed. Never forgotten. We Love you. Funeral service will be held in
Sands Funeral Chapel, 1803 Quadra Street, Monday April 16, at 1:00 P.M.

WYCKOFF, Jill Passed away at age 72 at Vancouver General Hospital on April
5, 2007. She is survived by her husband of 51 1/2 years Harry, her children
Elizabeth (Richard), Sally (Terry), Joe (Esperanza), Barbara (Kevin), Nancy
(Charles), 18 grandchildren and her siblings Louise, John, Richard, Margaret
and Jennifer. Jill was a Guide Leader, sang in choirs, and ran the community
dinners at St. Augustine Church, Jill was a devoted and loving wife, mother,
sister and friend. We will miss her. A Celebration of Jill's life will be
held on Saturday April 21, 2007, 1pm at St. Augustine Church at 8680 Hudson
St., Vancouver, BC. The family requests no flowers please. 357589
