ADAMEK, Mrs. Doris Barbara Wife, Mum, Grandmum, Great-Grandmum September 15,
1928 April 29, 2007 The loveliest person on earth" passed away peacefully in
her sleep. Mum was born in the little village of Southwater in Horsham,
Sussex of England. Doris met Rudy shortly after World War 2 ended and they
married in 1947. In 1949 Rudy and Doris embarked on their voyage to Canada
while being sponsored to do so by Doris's sister, Muriel. Settled in
Edmonton and gave birth to three children. Rudy joined the Canadian Army
which sent Doris and the family back to Europe. Following the two year term
in Germany the family settled to Victoria. As a young girl Mum's childhood
piano teacher spent hours showing her pictures of Victoria. As a young lady
Mum dreamed of living there. After the birth of two more children the family
moved from Vic West to Langford in 1961. The Adamek roots were now
established where Doris raised her family of 5 children, various cats and
dogs, and all the neighbors' kids. During the next 20 years Mum spent
countless hours volunteering on many committees involving minor baseball,
hockey, soccer, cubs, etc. Also during this time the family business was
established which Mum handled the administrative duties. After retiring in
the mid eighties, Mum's time involved the family of many grandchildren and
now great grandchildren. The past nine years Mum spent living in Metchosin
where she originally recognized as the close resemblance to her birthplace.
Mum took ill in June of 2006. Mum's positive and happy outlook never allowed
her to complain about her pain or condition. Always with a smile on her face
she would worry about everyone else but herself. Predeceased by her grandson
Gregory, Mum leaves behind a large legacy of family members including her
loving husband Rudy, sister Muriel (Albert), daughter Angela (Brian), and
sons Ian (Anne), Bob (Maxine), Peter (Kazumi), and Michael (Wendy). Also
remaining are 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A special thank
you to the Renal Dialysis staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. A Viewing
will be held on Friday, May 4th between 6:00 PM8:00 PM at Sands Funeral
Chapel in Colwood. Funeral Service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel in
Colwood on Saturday, May 5th at 1:00 PM followed by a reception at the Royal
Colwood Golf Course. 364610

societies including the Royal Canadian Legion, The Cosmopolitan Club and The
Society of Senior Engineers of Canada and The Association of Professional
Engineers of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Harold was a
member of the Swedenborgian Church of North America and His Faith is
expressed by the following quotation: The groping towards a power beyond the
things of sense may be too vague to put into a form of a dogma or creed.
That matters less. What does matter is that the human mind is not confined
to the things that today are here and are gone tomorrow. What does matter is
that the sense of the eternal informs our doing and thinking; that the
horizon does not limit our vision. We rest in the assurance that underneath
are the everlasting arms. Special thanks are extended to the volunteers,
nurses, staff and doctors at Hospice for their considerate and loving care.
A celebration of Harry's Life will be held at Ophir Place, 1521 Church
