ALLAM _ M. E. Grace Born April 27, 1914 in Elton Municipality, Manitoba,
moving to Vancouver in 1921,to Tsawwassen in 1969 and then to Fleetwood
Villa in Surrey in 2006. She passed away at Surrey Memorial Hospital on May
7, 2007 after a brief courageous struggle. Predeceased by her cherished
husband John Allam in 1978 and her sister and best friend Alma Powles in
2006. Grace and Alma lived together for 13 years and so enjoyed their busy
lives and many family cruises. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by
her son Art Allam and his wife Carol, daughter Alice Carson and her husband
Jim Kelly and his family, grandson John Allam and his family, granddaughter
Carrie Moe and her husband Bob and their family. Sister-in-law and long time
friend Margaret McKenzie, nieces and cousins and her adopted "extended
family" and many friends. Grace was a long time member of the Kinsmen
Recreation Centre in Tsawwassen and especially enjoyed playing Cribbage and
Euchre with her many friends at the Centre. Grace worked at the B.C. Parent
Teacher Association Head Office for many years, retired and then took on a
second career as a Court Recorder in the Vancouver Police Courts. Grace was
an amazing, caring woman who loved her family and her "extended family"
above all. She was Grandma Grace to so many. Everywhere she went she made
friends and will be missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she
touched. There will be a Viewing at Delta Funeral Home, 5329 Ladner Trunk
Road, Delta, BC on Friday, May 11, 2007 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Memorial Service
will be held at Delta Funeral Home on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 1:00 pm.

BAIS _ Sadie Eleanor March 16, 1907 - May 8, 2007 Our much loved mother and
grandmother passed away in her 101st year. Predeceased by her husband Henri
and son Douglas; survived by her daughter Ruby (Walter) and son Donald
(Alyce), as well as 8 grandchildren and spouses, 19 great-grandchildren and
spouses, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Sadie was born
to Frank and Frieda Bjur in Buford, Alberta. Her siblings, Hugo, Harry,
Mildred and Lawrence have all predeceased her. She and her husband Harry,
raised their family and farmed in the Birsay area of Saskatchewan, until
they retired to British Columbia, living in Port Coquitlam and then Langley.
Sadie was renowned for her sewing and handwork talents. She inspired all who
knew her with her hard work ethic, and positive attitude. Sadie lived
independently into her 99th year, actively sewing, quilting, knitting and
crocheting for family and friends, and providing baby knits and quilts for
the local Langley Memorial Hospital and ADRA, an overseas disaster, health,
education relief agency. It is fitting that we are able to lay our Mother
and Grandmother to rest on Mother's Day. A Memorial Service will be held
Sunday, May 13, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at the Aldergrove Seventh-Day Adventist
Church, 26245-28th Avenue, Aldergrove, BC. If you wish, a donation could be
made in Sadie's memory to ADRA, 1148 King St. E, Oshawa, ON, L1H 1H8.

BECKTHOLD _ Born February 23, 1929 in Winnipeg, MB Irene Edith Jane
Beckthold passed away May 7, 2007 in Powell River, BC.. Age 78 years. She is
survived by her children Ken (Doris) of Powell River, BC, Bill of Calgary,
AB, Carol Pearson, of Surrey, BC and Fred (Melinda) also of Powell River,
BC. She is also survived by her brothers Gary (Helen) Bircham of Winnipeg,
MB, Fred Bircham of Kelowna, BC, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.
She was predeceased by her grandson Corey in 1990 and her husband Len in
1991. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 11, 2007 at 1:30pm from
Stubberfield Chapel. The Rev. C. Reid officiating. Flowers gratefully
declined. Donations may be made the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC &
Yukon or the Canadian Diabetes Association if desired. Arrangements

BURGE _ In loving memory of Elizabeth (Betty) who passed on May 1st 2007
after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's. Survived by her husband Bill and

BURGOYNE _ Edna Elizabeth (Richardson), born May 14, 1919, died April 18,
2007 at age 87 in Cooper City Florida. Always positive, she lived her life
with determination, loved her family, and deeply cared about her Canadian
roots. Predeceased by her loving husband, Hugh; and dearly missed by her son
Richard, daughter Janice, grandchildren Graham, Andrea, and Sarah, and her
sibling Arthur Richardson. A celebration of her life was held April 23 in
Davie, Florida for her Florida friends and a private celebration will be
held in Vancouver May 28, 2007 to re-unite her with her husband Hugh.

DRAHO _ Shelley November 1, 1957- May 5, 2007 "The Heart of the Rose" She
left us still standing in the light of her love and passion; A true friend,
who always had time and knew how to make the truth feel good. When the
eagles soar or the wolves cry at the moon. She is there with me. Shelley is
survived by her love Alex, her beloved Tigger, family, friends, and all

FLEMING _ Erna passed away on May 3, 2007 at the age of 84. Loving and
missing her are her daughter Fanny M. Weick and her son Gerd Devos (both of
Germany); her son Rene P. Devos of Coquitlam, BC; and her grandchildren. A
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Sacred

FOOTE _ On May 5, 2007 Mary Edna (nee Wood) passed into the presence of her
Lord and Saviour at the age of 86 years. Preceded by her beloved husband Ken
in 1996. Mary was born in Pelly, Saskatchewan on July 7, 1920, then moved to
BC as a young adult. She met Ken while they were both serving in the army
during WWII. Mary and Ken adopted and raised six children, and were active
with the Langley Gospel Hall for many years. Their guestbook reflects the
hospitality they displayed and they were always ready to help others. Mary
was devoted to family, and the Christians. Activities she enjoyed included
homemaking, travel, scrabble, and knitting. Mary is lovingly remembered by
her daughters Jean (Ron) Humphreys, Lorna (Wayne) Winn, Susan Foote (Dean
Raiche), and sons Robin (Suzanne), Derek (Cheryl), and Michael Foote, 13
grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was a favourite auntie to many
nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the 3rd floor staff at
Langley Gardens for caring for mother during her final illness. Funeral
service is on May 10 at 12:30 PM at the Langley Gospel Hall, 4775 - 221st
St., Langley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian
Breast Cancer Foundation in memory of Mary.

GALERA _ Lillian (Lil) (nee Ruecker) Passed away in Honolulu, Hawaii April
27, 2007. Survived by husband Thomas - 2 brothers William (Ruth), Paul
(Fern) Ruecker, sister - Marlene (Alvin) Frick and many cousins, nieces and
nephews throughout Western Canada and a great extended family in (Ohana)
Hawaii and Southern California. Previously from Regina, Saskatchewan,
Calgary, Alberta and Vancouver, B.C. (where she worked for B.C. Tel for many
years). Memorial Service will be held May 17, 2007 in Honolulu and ashes
will be returned to Lemberg, Saskatchewan for burial in June 9, 2007.

GILLIES _ Esme May, April 7th, 1921 - May 2nd, 2007. Esme was born in Wales
and came to Canada as a war-bride in 1944. She had met and married the love
of her life Bill and then traveled by ship to her new home with her
first-born son. Esme and Bill spent many of their first years in Eastern
Canada and then came West with their three children to settle in Vancouver.
While their family was young, vacation time was always at their lake
property in the Cariboo. After raising their famly, Esme and Bill were
fortunate enough to travel and visit many countries. About this time Esme
discovered her talent and passion for painting. Over the years she gifted
family and friends with many treasures. Esme was a devoted wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother and a beloved friend to many. She will always
be in our hearts. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 12th,
2007 at 2:00pm in the Arbor Chapel at Valley View Funeral Home, 14660 - 72
Avenue, Surrey, BC. For medical reasons flowers cannot be accepted.

GILLIES _ Gisela Waltraud Born November 27, 1927, Mannheim, Germany. Passed
May 3, 2007. Survived by Klaus Szybilski, sons Ross (Ana), Scott (Alma); 8
grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A loving mother and grandmother,
Gisela moved to the lower mainland from Germany in 1954 settling in Port
Coquitlam. Gisela loved life and family. She will be greatly missed by all.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 12th at 10:00 am at Burkeview
Memorial, 1340 Dominion Ave., Port Coquitlam. A special thank you to Dr.
Kochendorfer, and all the staff at Queens Park Care Center Hospice. In lieu

GOULET _ Gregory Paul Born June 12th, 1952. Passed away suddenly on
Thursday, May 3rd, 2007. He is predeceased by parents Romeo and Ruth, and
brother Dennis. He is survived by his loving wife Cathy, brother Robert
(Lori) and sister Stephanie Reinhart. A Celebration of Life will be held at
Beecher Place, 2160 Beecher Street, Crescent Beach from 4:30 - 8:30 pm.

GRUNDER _ Jan Patricia (nee Mulholland ) May 5, 1966 - May 6, 2007 It is
with great sadness that we announce the tragic death of our kind, caring and
wonderful daughter Jan. Jan is survived by her husband David, her Mum and
Dad Pat and Ken, her brothers Robin and Fraser, her Uncles Colin, Bill and
Alistair, and 5 cousins in Scotland, and 6 cousins in Canada. Everyone who
knew Jan loved her. She touched many hearts, with her own heart of gold.
Rest in peace Janni. We love you deeply and we will miss you forever. There
will be a service for Jan on Saturday, May 12 at 3:00 pm in North Lonsdale
United Church, 3380 Lonsdale Ave., North Vancouver. Light refreshments to

HAMA _ Yaeko passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 89.
Predeceased by her husband Kichitaro. Survived by her daughter Yukie
(Hirokazu), son, Hiroshi (Eiko), granddaughter, Kaori (Jason), and
great-granddaughter, Mai. The family would like to express their heart felt
thanks to Dr. Peter Chung, to the caring staff at Canada Way Care Centre,
and the Nikkei Home. To everyone that played a part in Yaeko's life, we

HEBELPHWEIGHT _ Joseph James Redwood of Prince Albert, Sask passed away
sunddenly April 30th. He leaves behind son Dalton from Vancouver BC (Kayla)

HODGES _ Anne (Mildred Flora) passed away peacefully on May 6, 2007. She is
lovingly remembered by her son Dana (Darleen); daughter Julie (Gilbert); and
grandchildren Michael (Jen), Lisa (Billy), Mark, and David. Anne was born in
Saskatoon, Sask. As a young girl she moved with her family to BC where she
worked as a telephone operator for BC Tel and Eaton's. She was very close to
her late brother Stewart Kidd, who was her favourite dance partner. Anne
enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. A
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 12th at the
Burquitlam Funeral Home, 625 North Road, Coquitlam. In lieu of flowers,

JONES _ Nancy Juliana Ellen (nee Newton) passed away peacefully on May 6th,
2007 at the age of 90. Born August 17th, 1916, Nancy grew up on her family's
5,000 acre estate of Rahoy in the Western Highlands of Scotland. During WWII
in London, she served in the WAAF's as a code and cipher officer and later
married Herb Jones, a fighter pilot in the RAF. In 1945 she emigrated to
Canada as a war bride and settled in Vancouver where she and Herb raised
their three children. Nancy pursued careers in real estate and x-ray
stenography but her true passions were her love of animals and the sport of
football. She bred and showed Arabian horses for many years, and later in
life, she volunteered at OWL, a rehabilitation centre for endangered birds.
She was a loyal and long time fan of the B.C. Lions and held season's
tickets for over ten years. Her family will forever remember her as an
independent, brave and generous woman whose existence enriched the lives of
those around her. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Suzanne), Guy
(Abbey), daughter Nicki (Foster), her grandchildren Drew (Ellen), Greg,
David, Kristina, Christopher and step-grandchildren Michael (Farrah), Jason
(Sabrina) and Drew. To our Mom and Granny, thank-you for your unwavering
love and support; we will hold you in our hearts forever. Nancy's final
wishes were to have her ashes spread at sea. A family memorial service will
take place at that time.

LANG _ Marvin Charles Raymond March 21, 1927-May 4, 2007 Marvin was a caring
and generous man who would do anything for his family. So passionate was
Marvin's belief in having strong family relationships that he created a fund
with the Vancouver Foundation to help troubled families solve their problems
as a family. When Marvin wasn't helping his family and others, his eyes were
cast towards the sky. He adored building and flying model airplanes; he also
loved astronomy. His wonderful sense of humor and his gentle soul will be
missed by all who knew him. Marvin was predeceased by his wife Gladys.
Marvin will be dearly missed by all of his family he leaves behind
including - his son Stephen and wife Lynn, his son Jeff and wife Barb, his
daughter Kathy (Plexman) and husband Troy, his daughter Sandra and fiance
Garry, and his grandchildren Sean, Stephanie, Kelsey, Hannah, Dominique,
Christian, Dallas, and Mitchell. Thank you to the staff at Crofton Manor,
and Home Care West, for providing quality of life for Marvin over the last
few years. Thank you to the staff at the Palliative Care Unit at St Paul's
Hospital for giving Marvin his dignity and providing comfort right until his
passing. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, May 14 at 11:00 am at the
West Point Grey United Church, 4595 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver. In lieu of
flowers donations may be made to the Vancouver Foundation.

EVELYN LAVERTY 1922 - 2007 Our beloved Mother and Nana passed away as the
sun rose on Saturday, May 5, 2007, 11 days shy of her 85th birthday.
Predeceased by her darling husband Charles in 1989 and her first born and
only son Michael in 1997 - left to cherish her memory are her three
daughters Christine, Frances and Cecilia; grandchildren Wendy, Shannon, Alex
and Stuart; sons-in-law James Inglis and Gordon Robertson. In England her
dear sisters Elsie and Edna with their spouses Geoffrey and Fred; numerous
nieces and nephews share in our sorrow. Mum will be missed by her "Happy
Gang" chorus whom she loved; also many, many friends and acquaintances. From
the bottom of our hearts, thank you and God Bless to the many people who
helped and cared for Mum. Prayers will be offered at 7pm on Wednesday, May
9, 2007 at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, 33333 Mayfair Avenue in
Abbotsford. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30am on Thursday, May

MCALONEY _ Dorthy Gertrude Died peacefully on April 20, 2007 in Surrey
Memorial Hospital. Predeceased by Daughter Vivian. Survived by Grandson

MEUGENS _ Constance Gladys Born to Charles and Adeline Scott, February 23,
1918 in Chilliwack, BC. Passed away peacefully on May 9, 2007 at Queen's
Park Hospice, New Westminster. Connie will be deeply missed by her family
and friends. She was a lovely, wonderful lady who loved sewing, Senior's
outings, dinners with family and sitting quietly with Freddie the cat. She
was especially noted for her kindness, graciousness, generosity of spirit,
and most all, spunk! Connie lived in various regions of BC, the Yukon and
even a short time in the Cayman Islands throughout her lifetime and always
enjoyed an adventure. Predeceased by husbands, Les Foster, Joe Smail and
Geoff Meugens; granddaughter Connie Foster. Survived by sons: Larry (Karen)
Foster; Cliff Foster; step-children: Peggy (Gary) McShane, Karen (Harry)
Tonn, Mary Ellen (Larry) Laidlaw, Gordon (Pauline) Meugens, Elizabeth

MOORE _ Constance Elizabeth Florence "Betty" (nee Nobili-Vitelleschi), born
August 14, 1918, passed away on May 5, 2007 at St. Paul's hospital in
Vancouver. Born in Lowestoft, England, Betty spent much of her childhood in
Italy and France. During WW II, Betty served as a nurse in England. She
married her beloved husband, Ken, in 1946 and began raising her family in
Bournemouth, England. Betty immigrated to Vancouver with her husband and two
sons in 1952. Her family and friends will remember her warmth, sense of
humour, sunny disposition, and courage. She was predeceased by husband, Ken,
in 1997. Betty will be greatly missed by sons, Kevan (Barb) and Rocky
(Nancy) Moore, five grandchildren, Eryn (Amanda), Sarah, Lisa (Stephen),
Lauren, and Shauna Moore, and two great-grandchildren, Malakai and Anna
Moore. Betty's family would like to thank her family physician, Dr. Peter
Chiu, and the staff at Vancouver General Hospital and St. Paul's Hospital
for the excellent care she received. A memorial gathering will be announced
at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation of B.C. would be appreciated.

MULLINS _ Dorothee B.: Born October 21, 1946. Dorothee left us suddenly on
April 28, 2007. She will be sadly missed by her loving daughter Rochelle
Klein, soul mate Randy Paholko as well as all of her many friends. Her
little princess Sophia misses her "Mom" very much. Dorothee was a regular
contributor to BCSPCA as she adored "critters". In remembrance of Dorothee

PETRICHUK _ Eileen Awilda (nee Gummow) passed away on May 7, 2007, at the
age of 75, with her family by her side. She will be deeply missed by her
daughters, Debbie Endean and granddaughters Kathleen, Melissa and Kimberley;
Cheryl (Jan) Schwieger and grandsons Evan and Julian, and her son, Darryl
(Oie) Petrichuk, and granddaughter Tonoh. Eileen was a vibrant lady, and
it's almost impossible to sum up her life in only a few words. She
definitely lived her life to the fullest! Some words that describe her are:
lively, caring, artistic and stylish! She will be greatly missed by her

PICCOLO _ Evo has gone to sleep in God's caring arms on May 6, 2007 at the
age of 90. Evo is predeceased by his parents, Giovanni and Regina, formerly
of Montebeluna, Italy, his sisters, America, Stella, Bianca, Clorinda and
dear brother Ted. He leaves his loving wife Gladys who together they shared
65 years of marriage, his children, sons Donald, John, daughter Penny
(John); his grand-children, Jason, Danny, Jonathan, David, Anna;
great-grandchildren, Jordan, Briann, Amanda, Jacob. Evo spent his young
years growing up on Prior Street and went to Strathcona School. Coming from
immigrant parents he learned the meaning of hard work. In his beginning
years he worked in logging camps. From there he worked with his uncles Joe
and Louie in Atlin mining for gold. In the 50's Evo and Gladys operated
Pal's, a favourite coffee shop on Oak Street. Evo then moved to his next
great passion - building. He leaves a legacy of houses, apartment buildings
and warehouses he built in Vancouver. He had a sharp mind and was ahead of
his time. Evo was great lover of the arts. Paintings and antiques were a
great joy to him. He spread that love to his family. Evo and Gladys retired
in Kelowna enjoying their home on the lake with his kids and grandkids
visiting. Evo always put his family first. We will miss you dear husband,
dad, grandpa and friend. You will never know how much we love you. See you
in Heaven. Say hi to Nona. By request, no service.

QUICK _ Anthony John Anthony (Tony) passed away on May 7, 2007 at Fellburn
Care Home at age 87. He was born January 13, 1920 in Muddiford, Devon,
England. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth. Tony is survived by his
daughter Pamela and her husband Alfredo and granddaughters Elizabeth and
Victoria; and his daughter Penny and her husband Terry and his sister Joan.
Tony was an RAF Veteran from WWII and lived a full, adventurous and happy
life. He was always seen with his faithful dog at his side. He will always
be in our hearts. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 14, 2007 at
11:30 am at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby. In

REA _ Lieut.-Colonel Margaret Gertrude, born October 28th, 1916 in Regina,
Saskatchewan, was prematurely Promoted to Glory on May 4th, 2007. Margaret
served as a Salvation Army officer all across Canada with her husband
Willard, until his sudden death in 1995. Lovingly remembered by her son,
Bill (Peggy); grandchildren, Shannon, Sean, and David (Kelly);
great-granddaughter, Kinley; sister, Helen Stevens (Chuck); son-in-law,
Donald Roberts (Brenda); sisters-in-law, Marita Rea and Anne Schmidt; many
nephews and nieces; and a multitude of friends. Her daughter, Lyn,
predeceased her in 1987. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m.,
Friday, May 11th, 2007 at the Cariboo Hill Temple, 7195 Cariboo Road,
Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Salvation Army Cariboo Hill

SALTER _ Maxwell Mord Born in Prince Albert, Sask. on March 2, 1913, Max
quietly passed away on May 1, 2007. Survived by children, Arne (Pat) and Ken
(Shirley) Salter, Arlene Solway, Linda Jossul (Ron Roy); eight
grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. High school sweethearts, Max and
Irma (Nagy) married in Wakaw, Sask. in 1931. He served with the RCAF 428
Ghost Squadron overseas during WWII. In 1946 Max opened an electrical
business in New Westminster and later moved to Youbou (1950) and Courtenay
(1957). Max fully supported worker rights and served as IWA President, Local
1-363 from 1960 to 1972. Max and Irma returned to New Westminster in 1973
where he became the IWA Safety Director until 1978. Appointed to the Boards
of Review for WCB, he remained a Member until 1983. Max was a gifted
speaker, writer and photographer and these disciplines were evident
throughout his life. His varied interests included hockey, baseball, bridge,
chess and tai chi, but golf was his passion. An accomplished player (three
holes-in-one), he also participated in senior's golf at Burnaby Mountain
until suffering a stroke in 1993. After his wife passed away in 1996, Max
moved to George Derby Centre. With strong will and determination Max managed
to enjoy a measure of independence. His indomitable spirit was inspiring and
our admiration will continue now that he has joined the Lord. We will miss
his twinkling blue eyes, sense of humour, sage advice and unconditional
love. A memorial service will be held on May 12, 2007 at 11 AM at George
Derby Centre Chapel, 7550 Cumberland Street, Burnaby, BC, with reception to
follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation are
appreciated.

SCHULZ _ Hermann, June 16, 1913 - May 6, 2007, passed away suddenly at home,
his family by his side. He is survived by his wife Ella, daughters Edith
(Helmut), Angelika (Gerhard); grandchildren Lorena, Karl (Donna), Monika
(Brian), Chris, Ken; great-grandchildren Ryan, Amanda, Rachel, Adam,
Benjamin, Jacob. Hermann loved his garden and animals on his hobby farm. His
faith in the Lord helped him to overcome many hardships. A funeral service

WATTS _ "Stevie" Anita May 11, 1922 - May 5, 2007 "Born in the Shadow of
Stone Hendge" in Wilts Salisbury, England. Never shall I forget the time I
spent with you Predeceased by her parents and brother James Wilson. Survived
by her loving daughter Lynne (Ray) Ramsay, son James (Maureen),
grandchildren Christopher, Vanessa, Nolan, Kent. As a young child Stevie
moved to Alberta with her family. At 20 she joined the Airforce, after the
war Stevie moved to Steveston where she met and married Sonny Watts in 1950.
She later became involved in the fishing industry until her retirement from
BC Packers in 1983. She was a devoted member and supporter of ANAF 284 and
Royal Canadian Legion #5 until her passing. A Funeral Service will be held
at Delta Funeral Home, 5329 Ladner Trunk Road, Delta, BC, Thursday, May 10,
2007 at 10 am with Reception to follow. Ma, the world was a better place for
