positions including president of Youth Aliyah chapter, chair of the Hadassah
Bazaar, president of Vancouver Hadassah Council, member of the national
executive and National Vice President. She also helped found and counsel new
chapters, and was mentor of new and younger leadership. In 1965 Blossom and
her husband Myer, were honorees at a Negev Dinner, after which they spent a
year, together with their family, in Israel. Blossom was throughout her life
devoted to the creation, strengthening and well-being of the State of
Israel, which she visited dozens of times, first in 1958 when she organized
and led a Hadassah tour. Subsequently she led many tours to Israel, first on
behalf of Hadassah and then, after Myer's death in 1971, as a travel agent.
Even the "private" tours included visits to CHW projects in Israel, and
other projects of Canadian Jewry, all with the intent of strengthening
support for the Jewish State. All this while, Blossom raised a family, was a
legendary cook and hostess, and the matriarchal head of family. At the age
of 93 she was still hosting the family for Friday night dinners, and hosted
a seder this past Pesach. Having been predeceased by all her siblings and
their spouses, she is survived by her son Brian and his wife Channa, who
live in Jerusalem, Israel, their four children and six grandchildren, her
daughter Carole and husband, Arny Abramson of Richmond and their three
children, and her daughter Cindy and husband Prof. Daniel Seidmann of
Nottingham, England, and their two children, and by cousins, nieces and
nephews, many living in the Vancouver area. Blossom served as an example of
dedication and achievement for her family, her community and her people. May
her memory be a blessing.
