BATCHELOR WILLIAM J. (Bill) February 20, 1933 - December 3, 2002 No farewell

BIRD Margaret, our loving mother, born October 4, 1916 in Ireland passed
away peacefully November 30, 2007. Predeceased by our father John in 1976.
Leaves behind 7 children: Eileen, Maureen (Paolo), Sheila (Delmer), John
(Joyce), Pat (Bruce), Pauline (Steve) and Jim, 9 grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, December 4th, 2007 at
7:00 p.m. with Funeral Mass held on Wednesday, December 5th, 2007 at 12:00
p.m. at St. Claire of Assisi Parish, 1320 Johnson Street, Coquitlam. Burial
and reception following at Valley View Memorial Garden, 14644 72nd Avenue,
Surrey. ""Mom...may God hold you in the palm of His hand."" Thanks to

BRAMBILLA Carlo (Carletto) died at home on Saturday, November 24th, 2007
after a short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children, Diego,
Mary and Danny and his ex-wife Rosy. He left behind 5 grandchildren
Stephanie, Laura, Marco, Nicholas and Carsten. Carlo was born in Concorezzo,
Italy where he is survived by a brother, Gildo. A funeral service is planned
for Friday, December 7th at 3pm at Kearney Funeral Home, 1096 West Broadway,
Vancouver, BC V6H 1E6, (604) 736-0268.

Vernon Cuthbert ""Bert"" Brink OC, OBC, PhD, F.A.I.C. It is with great
sadness that we announce the passing of Bert on Thursday, November 29, 2007
at the age of 95. At his beside were his devoted children Bruce and Aubin
and their spouses Karen (Wanger) and Ross (Stewart). He is predeceased by
his beloved wife Ruth (Fields) in 1987 and survived by his cherished
grandchildren Keegan, Hudson and Kane, and a large and caring extended
family. Bert was born in Calgary, Alberta November 15, 1912. His life was
dedicated to conserving and enjoying our natural environment. He received
his undergraduate degree in Science at UBC (1934) and went on to earn his
doctorate in Botany and Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin (1939).
He returned to his adopted province and began a long and distinguished
teaching career at UBC in the Department of Agronomy where he touched the
lives of countless students through his passionate teaching about the sound
management of our natural resources. When he wasn't teaching he was
exploring British Columbia by driving its back roads, hiking its meadows,
and scaling its peaks. After his ""retirement"" in 1970 he worked tirelessly
with many agricultural, recreational and conservation organizations, in an
effort to preserve and protect the word around us. He will be missed by
many. At Bert's specific request there will be a small service for family
and close friends on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at West Point
Grey United Church. For his wide circle of colleagues and friends, a
celebration of Bert's life will be held in the New Year. In lieu of flowers
donations in Bert's name would be gratefully received by any of the causes
most dear to his heart: The Nature Trust of BC, The Federation of BC
Naturalists, Nature Vancouver, the Van Dusen Botanical Garden, the UBC
Botanical Garden or the Bert Brink Scholarship in Biodiversity at UNBC.

BUNSE Irma Elsie aka "GUMBY" passed away peacefully at St. Paul's Hospital
surrounded by all her children on November 23, 2007. Gumby is survived by
her daughters Charleen, Leeanna, Tahsina, Hasina, Mariha, step daughters
Linda and Julianne, son Justin, step son James, grandsons Rikko, Cody and
Delano, sister Rita, brother George, as well as many other family members
and friends. Predeceased by father Theodore, mother Helene, and sister
Helen. Celebration of Life Service to be held at Glad Tidings Church at 3456
Fraser Street in Vancouver on December 6th at 2:30 pm, followed by a
reception at the church. A memorial fund to help foster children is being
set up in her honour. Anyone who wishes to contribute to the memorial fund

Jimmy. Devoted Mother of Annemarie, Paul and Aisling, Mother-in-Law of
Leanne and "Nanny" of her cherished grandchildren Fiona and Scarlet. Though
four years have passed your love is still felt everyday, surrounding and
sustaining us as we continue in this life. Time dries the tears, dulls the

CODYJames Henry Cody (known as JIm or Cody), 92,Nanaimo, BC, formerly of
Vancouver, passed away peacefully November 26, 2007. Survived by his son,
Dick Riopel, nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born
and educated in Edmonton, moved to Vancouver before enlisting in the RCAF
where he served in Britain during WWII. He was active in Holy Name Parish;
participated in square dancing; a member of the Legion; was active with the
Sons of Norway (Matsqui); was a master brewer and vintner; a cheater at
cards with his grandkids. James was a man of warmth, delightful wit and
ribald humour drawing adults and children to him equally with his deadpan
playfulness. He will be missed by many but leaves behind many treasured
memories that will fill hours of conversation among those of us who knew and
loved him well. Visitation Thursday, December 6, 2007 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm

DURRANTLillian Christine (nee Trondson) Born - June 20, 1925 Passed away
very peacefully on November 29, 2007 in Richmond, BC. Predeceased by her
beloved husband Frank James in 1978 and her eldest daughter Evelyn Jane Van
Hest in 2007. Left to mourn are her loving daughters Sheila, Susan (Dennis)
and Janet, her grandchildren Christopher, Nathaniel, Michelle and many
friends. Mom was born in Lumsden, SK. She was a registered nurse graduating
from St. Paul's Hospital in 1951. In later years she was an active volunteer
for the City of Richmond and served on the Seniors' Advisory Council. She
was a pillar of strength with keen intellect and kind sweet nature. Her
family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the dedicated
staff at Pinegrove Place for their kindness and their excellent care of Mom
these past three years. Service will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2007

HUGGAN Angus James (Gus) born September 27, 1931 in Saskatoon. Passed away
peacefully November 30, 2007 in Vancouver. He will be missed by his loving
wife of 50 years, Greta. His children, Kathleen, Margaret, Jack (Pat) and

KANZ Teresa, born in Udine, Italy on October 26, 1919 and passed away
peacefully on November 28, 2007 at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver,
B.C. Teresa is survived by her loving family, her children, Silvio, Anna and
Aldo Kanz; grandson, Aldo (Sherri) Kanz and granddaughter Joanna (Mike)
Venne. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Francesco, in 1992. She
will be remembered for her wonderful generosity and kindness; she was loved
dearly by all. Prayers for the repose of Teresa's soul will be held on
Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Edmund's Roman Catholic
Parish, 545 Mahon Avenue, North Vancouver. Celebration of the Mass of
Christian Burial will follow on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.

KENNY Margaret Lindsey passed away peacefully on November 25 2007. Margaret
was predeceased by her beloved husband Dr. Douglas T. Kenny, her son John
Douglas Kenny, and is survived by her daughter Kathleen Margaret Kenny.
Margaret was born on December 4, 1920, in Prince George and moved to
Vancouver where she obtained her degree in librarianship from UBC. She went
on to obtain an MA at the Univ. of Toronto and then worked for many years in
the library at UBC. A celebration of life is to be held on December 4, 2007
(Margaret's birthday), 11:00 am at the Kearney Funeral Home, 1096 West
Broadway. In lieu of floral tributes, donations may be sent to the Multiple
Sclerosis Society of Canada.

LLOYD It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Rowland
Lloyd, a loving and precious father, brother, uncle and friend. Born on July
9, 1921 in Forestgate, London England, he passed peacefully into the arms of
the Lord on November 28, 2007 with his loving family by his side. Don was
predeceased by his loving wife and friend Nellie, brother Tony, and special
brother-in-law Wally. Don will be deeply missed by his daughter Meta, niece

MARTIN James (Jim) James "Jim" Martin passed away on Wednesday, November
28, 2007 at Surrey Memorial Hospital at age 59 years. He was born November
3, 1948 in Vancouver, BC. Jim is survived by his wife, Kim; daughters
Sharmon (Darren) and Heather (Randy), their mother, Wendy Martin and his
granddaughters, Larissa, Celina, Danielle, Tiffany and Samantha; his
siblings, Bill and Marilynn (Neil); nieces and nephews. He was predeceased
by his dad, Scotty Martin, mother Frances Martin and sister Jan Galvin (nee
Martin). A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at
11:00 am at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Branch 228, 344 Fort St, Hope,

O'DONAUGHY HENRIETTA Passed away peacefully on November 23, 2007 at the age
of 89 years. Predeceased by husband Jim. She is survived and lovingly

Jane Vance Rule, O.C., O.B.C., author, teacher, community activist, and role
model, died in her home on Galiano Island on November 28, 2007 surrounded by
family members. She was 76. The cause of death was complications from
cancer. Jane Rule was predeceased by her partner of 45 years, Helen
Sonthoff, in 2000. Jane Rule was the beloved sister of Elizabeth Rule Walker
(Libby) and her husband David Walker, and of Arthur Richards Rule and his
wife Ann Rule; she was the loving aunt of Alison Rule Walker and her partner
Ali Aranda, Katie Walker and her husband Steve Gomas, Janet Holmes and her
husband Joe Holmes, and Rick Rule and his wife Bonnie Rule. Jane will be
greatly missed by grand-nieces and nephews, Taylor and Joey Holmes, Natalie
and Carson Gomas, and Mackenzie Rule; and by her goddaughters Carol
Dearborn, Susan Varn, and Jane Burnhardt; as well as her many colleagues,
friends, fans, and readers. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The

TYCHYNSKI John Douglas Kirk died suddenly on November 14, 2007 in a tragic
accident in Leduc, Alberta. He passed away doing what he loved most, driving
the highways. He is survived by his son Dwayne, daughter Shantel and
grandsons Preston and Quintin. Forever missed by his mother Iris,
step-father Jack, father John, brothers Mike, Rick (Cheryl), Glen (B),

WATTS Margaret Edwards Scott, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2007 at
the age of 83 years. Margaret had a long full life having served in the
Canadian army during the war, trained and worked as a psychiatric nurse
before becoming a homemaker. Margaret's favourite pastimes were reading and
communicating with friends and relatives. Margaret is predeceased by her
husband Sidney James Watts, her brother John Jamieson and sister Nancy
Parent. Margaret is survived by her brother Alexander Jamieson, her son A.J.
(Sandy) Watts, her daughter Ellen Granberg, stepsons William and Robert
Watts, along with all of their families. At her request, there will be no

WELLS Mary, of Courtenay, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Comox, on
Thursday, November 29, 2007, aged 78. Predeceased by her husband Dick;
father Jim and mother Mary. She is survived by daughters Donna (Ernie)
Weddell of Burnaby and Pam (George) Dowler of Comox; beloved granddaughter
Sandra Weddell of Chicago; sisters Olga (Don) Borland of White Rock and
Jeanette (Steve) Kimball of Delta; her nieces and nephews and aunt and
uncle, Nellie and Morris Rodney of Coquitlam. Mary will be remembered as an
avid bingo player and one who loved spending time with her family. A
Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, December 5th at 1:30pm from
South Burnaby United Church, Grey Avenue and Rumble Street, Burnaby.
