MACLEAN, Nancy Bernice Early Saturday morning February 9, 2008 Nancy
peacefully passed away with her family by her side at Saanich Peninsula
Hospital. Nancy was born to John and Jeannette MacLellan in the village of
Alder Point, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, the tenth of 12 children on
November 22, 1934 and grew up in Cape Breton. She left with her family to
move west to Vancouver in 1949 where she attended school and later worked as
a photographer's assistant, doctor's assistant and drug store assistant
manager. When Nancy was 18 years old, she contracted TB and spent two years
at Tranquille Hospital in Kamloops. During her recovery she travelled east
to spend time in New York with her cousin and aunts and this led to a life
long love for New York; also she was always proud of her Cape Breton
heritage. She met her husband to be, Bud, at school not long after the
family moved to Vancouver, neither realizing that 12 years later after a
very short courtship they would marry. On May 6, 1961 Nancy and Bud were
married and she started a new journey in her life, one that would take her
to Port McNeill and then finally to Victoria where the family finally
settled in 1975. This was where she decided to take a job in health care and
became an aide at Tillicum Lodge where she was for 20 years. As one of the
first people to be hired at Broadmead Lodge as their seamstress, where when
the time came in 1996, she retired. Her ambition in retirement was to
continue her passion for sewing and also return to the sport she really
liked, curling, but this was not to be. The next journey for Nancy started
on September 2, 1997 with the diagnosis of Alzheimers disease. Nancy
accepted this with courage, strength and dignity and never once complained
and as she worsened drew more people to her and everyone could feel her love
and everyone loved Nancy. She leaves behind her husband Bud, daughter Lisa
(Cal), son Cameron (Cheryl-Ann) and her two grandsons, Lisa and Cal's boys,
Cody and Austin. Also Nancy leaves behind two brothers, John (Ev), Nanaimo,
and Eric (Grace), Surrey, and two sisters, Bertha Manuel, Toronto, and Karen
Jones, Atlanta, Georgia; also many friends. A special friend is Alice Kool,
who spent time making sure Nancy was dressed with class and also Monday
lunches were very special. One special person to be remembered is Marnie
Trace, an angel who was with Nancy throughout her final journey and gave her
love and attention to Nancy and there is a special place in the hearts of
the family who thank her so much for loving Nancy. A memorial service will
be held Thursday, February 14, 2:00 p.m. at First Memorial, 4725 Falaise

ROBINSON, Cindy-Lee May 23, 1957 February 6, 2008 Cindy-Lee left us on a
rainy, wind-swept Wednesday morning. While she serenely completed her
journey, the stormy weather symbolized the turbulent emotions of the many
dear family members and friends left behind to contemplate why such a unique
individual was taken from us far too soon. Cindy-Lee was born in New
Westminster, spent her childhood in South Vancouver and in the wonderfully
rural setting of the Pitt River area of Port Coquitlam. A graduate of
Douglas College, Cindy-Lee displayed a marvellous mixture of social activism
and entrepreneurial spirit. From the early 1990's through to the arrival of
her illness in late October `07, Cindy-Lee was a passionate and effective
advocate with the Mental Health Law Program (MHLP) throughout the province;
exclusively on Vancouver Island since 2000. Her many MHLP colleagues and
clients" mourn her passing. A Green Party candidate in the Cowichan Valley
in the last provincial election, Cindy-Lee continued her social activism to
the end; she was a member of the Victoria chapter of the non-profit housing
organization InnovativeCommunities.Org. While working on behalf of society's
less advantaged, Cindy-Lee was not shy about venturing into an interesting
array of business ventures. CindyLee predeceased by inspirational
grandmother Dorothy Robinson and grandfather Merrill Robinson leaves behind
father Neil Allen Robinson, stepmother Gladys, sisters Cathy, Cheryl,
brothers Kenny and Donny, many cousins, nieces and nephews and birth mother
Nancy Bredbury. At her side for the last portion of her journey were beloved
sons Bailey and David and sister Cathy. Also mourning the loss of this
fantastic woman is her loving partner Hadyn Thomas and so many dear friends
here in BC and across Canada. Her complexity was a large part of Cindy-Lee's
beauty; she loved working with horses, the earth and the soul, yet found
time for passionate debate on pressing social issues and she loved good
jazz. To say she will be missed is a huge understatement; to know Cindy-Lee
was to love being in her company. Notification of a party to celebrate this
rich life will follow. 444076

Once retired, Joe and Phyllis enjoyed many years of travelling in their
motor home and seeing Canada and most of the US Reno was always a
destination. They loved to cruise and were able to visit Hawaii, Alaska, and
the Panama Canal. Joe loved to draw, especially airplanes and his Christmas

collection on the front lawn as requested by the grandkids. Cars would stop
along the road to let people take pictures or just to admire his handy work.
