ALLEN, Herbert Dennis (Denny) October 28, 1942 February 14, 2008 Denny
passed away peacefully at Vancouver General Hospital with his loving wife by
his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Victoria, B.C. he
was a long time resident of Cowichan Bay. He will be greatly missed by his
wife Frances (Fran) Allen, his father and mother "Pete and Jo" Allen, as
well as his two daughters, Kathrine (Scott) and Cindy and his grandchildren
Anisa and Ivano. He will also be missed by his sister Brenda (Bob) and
nieces Tina and Adele, as well as numerous cousins. Denny took his
apprenticeship as a machinist at the Dockyard in Esquimalt from 1961 to
1965. In 1968 he began working as a millwright at Crofton Pulp and Paper
where he made several life long friendships as saw many changes until he
retired from his position as Maintenance Superintendent in 1996. Denny will
be remembered for the things he loved to do, camping with friends and
family, restoring old cars, and more recently his passion for GMC motor
homes, and the places they took him. But he will mostly be remembered for
his amazing ability to fix or build pretty much anything he wanted, and
helping friends and family in many projects through his lifetime. His sense
of humour and generosity of spirit will never be forgotten. A service will
be held at St. Edwards Church 2085 Maple Bay Road in Duncan on Wednesday,
February 20th at 11 AM. The Rev Father Frank Franz, Celebrant. In lieu of
flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 750 Hillside
Ave, Victoria, BC, V8T 1Z4. for Cancer Research in Denny's name. 445512

BROWN, Wilma Passed away in Victoria on February 16, 2008. She was born in
Nanaimo, BC on February 17, 1918. Predeceased by her sister, Audrey
Alexandra Brown; brothers, Albert, Charlie, Reggie, Cuthbert, Phil and
Edwin. Survived by nieces, Margaret Green (John) in Nakusp, BC; Barbara
Ellison (Bill) in Prince George, BC and many great nieces and nephews. Wilma
was a career civil servant with the Government of BC. She loved nature and
animals of all kinds. Wilma will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew
her. Many thanks to the staff at Douglas Care Community for all of their
kind care and support. A memorial service will be held at McCALL BROS.
FAMILY CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets, on Thursday, February 21, 2008
at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of

DYCK, Lillian 1935 2008 Lillian went to be with the Lord peacefully at the
Kiwanis Pavilion on Wednesday, February 13th. She was predeceased by her
loving husband, Hank. Lillian will be remembered by her daughter Bonnie
(Ken), her grandchildren Ryan and Laura: her brother Dallas (Barb) and many
nieces and nephews. The family wish to thank the dedicated staff of the
Kiwanis Pavilion for the great warmth, care and compassion they all gave to
Lillian. In lieu of flowers kindly make a donation to the Kiwanis Pavilion
Foundation. A private celebration of her life will be held February 18th.

KOLTERMAN, Bernice Emily Passed away peacefully February 15, 2008 at age 87.
Bernice will be dearly missed by her daughter Marian (Peter) Purnell of
Courtenay, and son John (Kathy) Dando and daughters Nonna (Duane) Stephens
and Laura (Bob) Biagioni of Terrace, and stepchildren Bev (George) Bujtas
and Ken (Pat) Kolterman of Terrace and Terry (Don) Morberg of Calgary, as
well as 15 grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
She will also be fondly remembered by her many friends in the Victoria and
Terrace areas. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 19 at 2:00
pm at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC. In
lieu of flowers, donations in Bernice's memory can be made to a charity of

RUSHWORTH, David Michael March 15, 1941 February 11, 2008 Beloved by all who
knew him. Survived by his partner of 38 years, Jonathan Kelly, and by his
mother, Mrs. Maisie Rushworth. His father, Donald died in 1991. Reception at
Seahorses Cafe beside the Mill Bay ferry dock in Brentwood Bay on February
29th, (Leap Day) from 2-5pm. Instead of flowers, please donate to the

SIMMS, Ross Irving 1916 2008 Ross passed away peacefully on February 13th
with his wife and family by his side. Holding him lovingly in their hearts
forever are his wife of 62 years, Hazel; daughter Florence Raines (Dallas);
son Raymond Simms (Carla); daughter Shirley Hoyer; son Phillip Simms
(Cindy); grandchildren Christopher, Jenna, Lindsay, Crystal, Miranda,
Jordan, Michelle, Kyle, Scott; great grandchildren Julianne, Matthew and
Bennett. Born in Montreal, Ross served in the army and was transferred to
Vancouver Island in 1944 where he met the love of his life. In 1945 the
newlywed couple returned to the east where Ross earned a Bachelor of Arts
degree at McGill University. Back in Victoria, Ross completed teacher
training at Victoria Normal School and subsequently taught at S.J. Willis
Jr. High School for 26 years. He was always avidly interested in magic and
for over 40 years was a charter member of the Victoria Magic Circle. Upon
retirement, Ross and Hazel caught the cruising bug and enjoyed many cruises
together with friends. Hazel and the family would like to give a special
thank you to the wonderful care workers at Lion's Cove who cared for and
joked with Ross so lovingly over the past months, and to Dr. Kier MacMillan
for his compassionate care and assistance to Ross and family over the years.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 21, 2:00 p.m. at First
Memorial, 4725 Falaise Dr. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ross' memory may
be made to The Mustard Seed or a charity of your choice. 445260
