BENNETT, Charles Arthur GONE FISHING FOR THE BIG ONE It is with great
sadness we announce Chuck's passing on April 25, 2008 in Victoria, BC. He
was born December 2, 1927 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Predeceased by parents
Charles and Beatrice, he is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Dorothy
(Dot); daughter Terry (Jim) Dunne and son Gordon Bennett; grandchildren
Tassia, Corey, Jenna, and Dustin; sister Wynne and brothers Ray (Eileen),
Art (Judy) and Gil (Marylou); daughter-in-law Debbie and close inlaws Barb
and Ron (Jean), plus many cousins, nieces, nephews, and long time friends.
Chuck worked as a rigger sailmaker at DND Dockyard from 1951 to 1983,
retiring as the shop's charge hand. He was deeply involved in the Victoria
bowling community for 50 years plus was a long time member of the James Bay
Anglers Association. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing the local waters
and also spent many hours puttering in his garden, yelling at the
neighbourhood cats. He was a wonderful armchair coach to his grandchildren.
"No More Mr. Nice Guy" Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you
to Dr. Eric Shafonsky, Lise, and the attending RJH staff involved in Chuck's
care. A celebration of Chuck's life will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel,
1803 Quadra Street, on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers,
a donation to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation, #107 1001 Cloverdale

BIERMAN, Robert Maximillian Bob passed away in Victoria on Thursday, April
17, 2008 and is survived by Angelina, his loving wife, soul mate and best
friend. Bob also leaves behind a legacy of family and friends he loved and
who loved him. Born in The Netherlands, he and Angelina emigrated to Canada
in 1951 and he soon began a full time career as a political cartoonist,
combining his art skills with an amazing talent to portray a
thought-provoking editorial into a single cartoon and by-line. Bob's work
continued to appear in print through the 90's. He found humour in all
aspects of life, sometimes funny, and sometimes painful. His editorial
humour was always at the expense of the rich and powerful, and in favour of
those whose lives they affected with their actions. Although lauded by his
peers, he never sought out fame or fortune and although fame did find him,
fortune never did. Living a life of modest means he kept his realistic and
honest perspective and he never abandoned his principles for monetary
success. Bob was a nontraditional individual who was not comfortable with
ceremony and formality and in that spirit no traditional services will be
held. In that same spirit, no other kin or friends names are mentioned. Bob
had time and concern and honest emotion for all his extended family of
inlaws from his sons to his furthest grandnieces and nephews, as well as
recent and past important friends. It would be unfortunate to leave someone
out at this time of difficult concentration. All are welcome and invited to
attend a remembrance and celebration of Bob's life on Saturday May 3rd
beginning at 2 pm at 4995 Deer Park Trail, Victoria BC, (Metchosin). This
will be an informal gathering of family and friends to remember Bob, perhaps
say a few words and enjoy some of the other legacies of his lifelong
passion, his wonderful works of art. For information, directions or
transport please call us at 250-478-4232. 463758
