EDDINGTON/FAIR : KIRSCH : SMITH :
Pansy Margaret Marcella Eddington/Fair September 27, 1921 May 11, 2008 A
proud and hardy coastal pioneer passed May 11, 2008. Pansy Margaret Marcella
Eddington, born in Cameleon Harbour September 27, 1921. Pansy passed
comfortably, with the knowledge that her family was close by. She was
predeceased by her husbands, Lloyd Fair (1967) and Keith Eddington (1994).
The joy of her life was her four children, Glen & (Helen) Fair, Norman &
(Bonnie) Fair, Albert Fair and Sharron & Clayton Abbott. Pansy's sisters
Pearl and Marion were always present in her mind along with the stories she
loved to tell about the raising of their two cougars Leo and Girlie. Life in
the '30's was a huge challenge which was made significantly more difficult
by the loss of their mother, Zaida, when Pansy, who was the eldest of the
three was only ten years old. Their father August Schnarr, a pioneer of our
local coast was left to fend for his family the only way he knew how, with
extremely hard work. These 3 young girls helped August with his trap lines,
hand logging, gardening, canning preserves, operating boats in treacherous
tidal waters, climbing mountains, plus a host of other chores that most
today would crumble under. It goes without saying that our family will miss
Pansy. But she leaves a legacy in her four children, ten grandchildren and
nineteen great grandchildren. This legacy will live on as stories of her
interesting life and the contributions that she and her family made to our
local coastal history are passed on to future generations. A Memorial will
be held at Yucalta Lodge; Sunday, May 18th, 2:00 p.m. at Yucalta Lodge
Lounge, 555 2nd Avenue, Campbell River.
