Hi to fellow Listers, A couple of weeks ago I signed up with the List and
as I know absolutely nothing about researching in Canada I have been keeping
an eye out for any good tips and to get a feel of the list Thank you very
much David for the B.C. Archives site what a treasure trove. My Family
interest is the Prenter Family of Antrim Town Co.Antrim Ireland. The name is
quite rare so is reasonably easy to trace, all Irish Prenters are supposed to
be related.First Prenter to come to Canada was Hector Prenter, he sailed
from Londonderry to Nova Scotia in 1884. With nothing else to go on I
decided to do a search Canadian White Pages(telephone listing), and the
only listings were in B.C. Last night I ran the name thru B.C. archives
and BLISS marriages births and deaths, not for Hector, but for two of the
younger brothers of whom I knew very little about, Samuel Law
Prenter(b.1865 d. 1938) and Charles Bankhead Prenter(b.1868 d.1930) a son
Reginald Vigars Prenter (b.1896d.1975) Still looking for Hector.
Thank you again David.
If there anyone with Prenter connections your New Zealand kinfolk would
love to hear from you, we have lots of family history to share
