Hi Sheila,

The name of the town is FERNIE, British Columbia, not Ferrie.

Archives Canada has a database of the C.E.F records, you can see a copy
of Ishmael's Attestation [Enlistment] in the C.E.F on line at

Ismael STEELE, Born North Staff. England 15 July 1874, occupation
Miner, enlisted at Victoria 13 May 1916.

You can get a photo copy of his service record/papers from the
archives.
