Hi Carol

I cannot help you directly but Soda Creek was first opened by fur traders,
then the gold seekers circa 1860 and they were followed by the ranchers.

Have you thought of writing the local Cowboy Museum of Ranching? Try
surfing to http://www.cowboy-museum.com/ and on there you will find an
email address . Perhaps somebody there can further
enlighten you. I do notice reference to a Mud Lake House at
http://www.city.quesnel.bc.ca/Grtrail/pg25a.html Perhaps you can pick up a
clue from there.

Do try inputting Soda Creek, BC and Mud Lake Ranch or simply Mud Lake into
Google and restrict your search to Canada only [there's a Mud Lake in the
USA]. Google supplies you the tools to define your search to a single country.

Hope this helps
