Lauraine

My ex husband was a Smith. Frank Smith his father was born in Cloverdale
Manitoba.
That's all I have found out so far, but was wondering if there is a
connection. My ex was born about 1929 and he had two older brothers.

Hi Alex:

Thanks am off to look. My G. Grandfather came to Canada with the HBC -
hired on at Stromness in 1862 - he was a Shetlander. Hope to find out if he
came through the Hudsons Bay are or ?? Have just signed up for the Shetland
DNA project. Maiden name was SMITH - thus SMITHs are from Shetland. I am
paying for the DNA and my 92 yr. old father will provide the sample if still
alive when kit comes. Otherwise have to first male cousins who bear the
name of SMITH - why do these tests seem anti-female?? Cheers.
