Hi folks

Let me confess immediately that I am not aware of any family connections
with the Company. Born in Cumberland, north west England, I do have
quite a few rellies that sailed frequently to Atlantic Canadian ports,
and just a few that went the extra mile (or was it a knott?) round the
Horn to San Francisco and Vancouver. Names of interest are Ellwood,
Williamson, Wylie, Lowrie, Wedgwood, Cottier, Little, McFadden, Hannah,
Key, Peile.

However, the main purpose of this post is just to check if you good
folks who might be looking for links to Blighty are aware of the several
hundred letters, originally dispatched from England between 1832 and
1867, which are still undelivered and held in the Company's Archives in
Manitoba. You probably are, but if this post helps one lister connect
then that is just great.

I have on my shelves a copy of "Company of Adventurers" by Peter C.
Newman and would be pleased to offer the occasional look-up.

Derek, in a warm Hampshire, England. .
