I have something on the Kuzyk family, but they are from McCreary, abt.
an hour away from Dauphin. John Kuzyk, 6th child of Steve & Polly of
Glenella was b. 1918. At 15 left home to cut wood in Riding Mtn. In
1937 he bought farm in Norgate district and in 1940 m. Olga Shura (b.
1919 ). They had 4 children
Sonja m. Don Hanson and moved to Winnipeg. Had 3 children-Darcy, Stacy
and Gidget
DEANNA m. Jim Johnstone of Neepawa. Later moved to Winnipeg.
MARLENE m. Neil Whitley of Winnipeg and had 2 children-Michael and
Aleishia. Later moved to Rapid City.
DALE remained on family farm.

Also, there are three Kuzyks listed as being buried at the St Peter and
St. Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sunville. Semko (undated but
listed as being between 1919-1930, Stephan between 1919-1930 and baby
Kuzyk 1943

Karen,

I also have a request, on anything about the Kuzyk family or Mazuryks.

I have the book "Pioneer Settlers Ukrainians in the Dauphin area
1896-1926" by Michael Ewanchuk. I would be happy to do look ups for
anyone in this book.

Does you book about Dauphin include the family of James Carroll and
Martha
Waite? I'm trying to find out more about their son John Reginald who was
killed in WWII.

Hello Eleanor,
I got the book "Dauphin Valley Spans The Years" which was published in
1970
and checked through it last night for any Crowe name.

page 44. J.J. CROWE was a city councillor from 1916-1919

page 52 and page 245. Town Band History. One of the musicians trained by
Jack McMurray who led the band from 1928-1951 was Gordon CROWE.

page 172. The list of families who gave long and faithful service over
the
years to the Dauphin Agricultural Society was.. J.J. CROWE..

page 190 Manitoba Curling Association-In 1938 J.J. CROWE was admitted to
the
ranks of life member.

page 243. Early Lumber Yards-The J.J. CROWE Company Limited was another
old-timer in the lumber business, being owned and operated by J.J. CROWE
and
then by his son Jack over a span of 40 years. The business was sold to
Beaver Lumber Company in 1954.

page 254. Independent Order of Odd Fellows. One of the members of the
Dauphin Lodge was..Fred CROWE.

page 272. Among the list of those who died during WWl 1914-1918 was R.O.
CROWE.

This was really a nice book written on the history of Daupin and area
and
it did include stories on about 61 pioneer families.
