To all:-
I became curious about what was on internet about Manitoba, so searched.
I learned about the Hudson's Bat Company being founded in 1670, mainly
for fur trade, exploration and settlement with RECORDS
After 1870, one territory known as Rupert's Land was incorporated into
the Dominion of Canada.
CENSUS Records are available on microfilm from Provincial Archives of
present-day Manitoba -- cover years from early 19th Century to 1901.
Check the following -- very interesting, including Métis:-
http://www.gov.mb.ca/chc/archives/hbca/index.html
Manitoba was one of three prairie provinces to become a province of Canada
in 1905 -- just in time for the 1906 law we keep hearing about. The 1906
census WAS supposed to have been released in 1998.
If I have made any errors in above, please let me know -- I love history!
