11/26/1925 FORMER RESIDENT CALLED TO REST
Mr. R. G. THOMSON received the said news on Thursday afternoon of the
death of his brother, William A. THOMSON, at Los Angeles, California, early
that morning. The late Mr. THOMSON was in his sixtieth year. He was one of
the earliest settlers in this district and a pioneer in the country hotel
business. It was Mr. THOMSON who built the first Oak River hotel as well as
the present one, and also the Cecil Hotel at Hamiota.
His many friends in this district will join in extending sympathy to Mr. R.
G. THOMSON and also through him to the bereaved wife and family.

5/19/1927 Lee Kit DONG, who for several months was cook at the Club Cafe
in town, died last Wednesday in the Brandon hospital. He was 46 years of age,
and is survived by a wife in China, and a son in California.

8/4/1927 Albert BRIDGEMAN of Sandy Lake died at Neepawa on Saturday last.
Mr. BRIDGEMAN, familliarly known as "Ab," was one of the pioneer farmers of
this district and for a short time was in business in Oak River. He was
unmarried.

8/25/1927 JOSEPH HEDLEY KILLED WHILE OUT SHOOTING
Joseph HEDLEY, a former resident of this district, was accidently killed on
Friday morning while out shooting. He had been visiting his sister, Mrs. J.
P. DUFF, and left about 10 a.m. for a little shooting before dinner. When he
did not return a search party was organized and the body was found by his
neice in a bluff about 200 years from the house.
Dr. STEWART was immediately called, and after examining the body found he
had been dead about three hours, the shot having penetrated his chest. An
inquest was not deemed necessary.
He leaves a widow and daughter of Brandon, two brothers, James and Robert,
and two sisters, Mrs. J. P. DUFF and Mrs. K. C. MC KENZIE all of this
district.
The funeral service was held at the home of Mrs. J. DUFF on Saturday
afternoon, and was conducted by Rev. W. R. ALLEN, interment being made in the
Oak River cemetery. The pall-bearers were Messrs. E. HENRY, C.HENRY, J.
SCOTT, W. NESBITT, E. H. GLINZ and W. R. MC KENZIE.
