Dear List:

My name is Jean Payton and I live in Florida on the Suncoast/Gulf of
Mexico. I am researching my husbands Irish and Scots ancestry. His great
great grandparents on his grandfathers' both fraternal and maternal came
from Ireland and Scotland.
The names I am researching are Payton/Peyton/McEwen/Finley/Donellan/r. They
came to the Montreal Area in the 1820-30s. His (my husbands)grandmother
was French as was all of her ancestors. But I have been having trouble
routing out his paternal side as I have been able to trace them to Montreal
area but not after 1860. It seems they lived in Rawdon, Montcalm County and
then moved to the Montreal area after that. I have a thirty year gap to
fill and so far have not had any luck yet discovering them. I have the birth
record of his grandfather and I know where the parents were married I just
lost them between 1851 and 1861 and his grandfather didn't show up again
until 1891 in Ontario.

So if anyone on this list is researching the above names I sure would like
to hear from you.
Jean

Montreal. My Irish ancestry comes from Co. Mayo, Tipperary, and to the north
in the Belfast area. My areas of interest are the QUINN, FISHER, DENNISON,
and GELSTON names (to name a few). My interests are viewable at Rootsweb's
Worldconnect site.

Irish community a common place to list upcoming events and discuss Irish
culture in Montreal. Of course I anticipate that the discussion of Montreal
Irish genealogy and history will be front and centre as well.
