Subject: [Montreal-Irish] Edward/John Cantwell of Montreal circa 1830
Date: Sun, 16 Sep 2001 12:12:35 EDT

I descend from an Edward Cantwell who, according to his naturalization and
death records, was born in Montreal, Quebec, between 1829 - 1835 to a John
Cantwell, who was himself born in Montreal. Edward's mother's name is not
known for sure, but a possibility is Mary Noon. A possible brother of Edward
is a John Cantwell who married a Mary Cogans at Notre Dame, Quebec City, May
10, 1842 (I get the Mary Noon possibility from the marriage record's
identification of this John's parents as being John Cantwell and Mary Noon).

If anyone has any information on Edward's line and/or any John Cantwells
living in Montreal about 1830 (or born in Montreal circa 1790-1810), I would
greatly appreciate it. I assume Cantwell is Irish and Edward was buried in a
Catholic cemetery, so I assume John was also probably Catholic. So, if
anyone has access to Catholic baptismal records for Montreal circa 1830 and
could check for a record on Edward's baptism, I would greatly appreciate
that, as well.

Thanks,

Richard Husband
