I am searching for information about Irish Settlers in Kilkenny/St.
Hippolyte, Montcalm County area about 1817 - 1828. There is also reference
to New Glasgow, Terrebonne County -- a neighboring County. The early history
of this area and the early settlers is of great interest to me as I try to go
back one more generation.

Surnames: English and Doherty (my 2nd ggrandparents)

I would like to know the parish, township, etc., they emigrated from in
Ulster and more about their life in Ulster. Was the emigration encouraged by
their church leaders or someone else? If so, are documents available that
lists the families?

Other Irish Names: Richard Allen & family -- emigrated 1837 - 1842 from
Armagh
Brereton Allen

Brown(e)

Any information/resources will be greatly appreciated. This is one of my
brick walls.
