http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp there's one Sam
Cinnamond at the LDS above who died in Massachusetts in 1968. Born in 1877.
1731 Des Erable is just south of Masson Street and north of St. Joseph Blvd.
in Montreal's east end.
Going from east to west there's Parthenais street, then Des Erable, then
Delormier, Bordeaux, Chabot, Cartier and Papineau down at that end of the
city. All these streets run north-south. 1292 Papineau would be on this map
too.
You can find it by going here http://www.bnquebec.ca/cargeo/accueil.htm
click on Index des Toponymes, then M for Montreal, and click on Montréal
(Québec). Then go to the 1914 map of Chas. E. Goad Co. click on the picture
of the map with the number TRAQ0001-0059 under it. Go to the
green part of the map, volume 3 click on it then click on
'Carte-index vol. 3, partie sud ' and then click on the
3rd square up in pink, in the right hand corner, it's in Delormier Ward.
The addresses have changed a lot since 1914 but that map would be correct
since your ancestors lived there at that time. But for 1936 5078 Papineau is
probably still in the same place it is today. There are many old houses on
Papineau.
On the 1914 map I was looking north of Jean Talon and Papineau street still
had addresses in the 3000's up that far north. Yet I know someone who lived
at 6969 and it's not that far north. So they've added many addresses in
between since 1914. I would say 5078 Papineau is south of Jean Talon, maybe
even south of Rosemount Blvd.
From www.google.com Address: Imperial's main office in Quebec is located at
Tour Esso, 7100 Jean Talon Est, Montreal H1B 3R8

> Hello, listers!
>
> I'm a newbie on this list and would like to post the person that I'm
searching for. Samuel Rea Cinnamond (b. 1876 in Co. Antrim) was listed as
"a brother Samuel living in Montreal" in the 1936 obituary of his sister
Sarah Jane Moorhouse, who died in the US.
>
> A search of the Monteral directories shows a Sam Cinnamond, bricklayer, in
1913 at 1292 Papineau Ave., SR Cinnamond, clerk, in 1916 at 1731 Des Erable,
Sam Cinnamond, bricklayer, in 1916 at 1731 Des Erable, Mrs. Isabel
Cinnamond, trained nurse, in 1936 at 5078 Papineau Ave, Sam Cinnamond, no
occupation, in 1936 at 5078 Papineau Ave. The last two entries are in 1940
for Isabel and Sam, listed as a bricklayer for Imperial Oil. No entries
before 1913 or after 1940.
>
> My question is does anyone know anything about the addresses listed? Were
they located in an Irish neighborhood? Any information about the
neighborhood or about Imperial Oil's proximity to it?
>
> Are there any immigration/emigration records for Montreal that might
supplement what I have? I have checked any cemetery that I could find
online for death records but could not find any. Perhaps the family went
back to NI, but I'm not sure unless I can check emigration records.
