http://www.homestead.com/indexgwm/gwmcrae.html there's a great page on Point
St. Charles here. Click on 'Baseball' on the top left, for many photos of
the old days and lots of boys and men in the photos. You may find one of
your grandfather.
Also http://www.bnquebec.ca/cargeo/accueil.htm if you click on Index des
Toponymes at the bottom here then M for Montreal, then Montreal (Quebec) and
the 1912 map by Chas E Goad, then the Yellow map that says Verdun, the
Carte-index vol. 2, partie sud, then click on the blue and then the pink
maps in the lower right hand corner of this map. This is St. Gabriel's Ward
or Point St. Charles.
When the map comes up click on it again to get an enlarged map on another
page. Some of these Chas E. Goad maps have the names as well as addresses of
the people who lived there.

> Hello, I am trying to trace the line of my paternal grandfather , John
Patrick Beattie !888-1970,who was born in the"Point". His Baptismal
certificate from St. Gabriel's Parish names his father as John Beattie and
his mother as Bridget Madigan. I would like to find some info on
them, particularly where they came from and when they entered Canada. Thanks
for any help you can give. Kerry Beattie Mahoney.
