We went to the Knock Shrine yesterday. It had been over 10 years since the
last time we went. We had gone there from St. Jovite and found a back road
in, coming in from behind the cemetary. We couldn't find the road again and
it took us a while to get there. They gave everyone blue and gold ribbons on
the way in for the 50th anniversary.
We looked at the old photos they had out on display, interesting. It turned
out to be a nice hot, sunny day. So we left a wee bit early to go swimming.
We left from behind the cemetary to try that old road again, nice scenic
drive and hardly anyone on the road. They've widened it quite a bit and it
joins up with the highway further down.

Hi Maureen,

You're right, Mayo is a not near any large towns. It's really just a
crossroads, with the church, cemetery and a few homes.
A white church with a green roof, the shrine is built onto the side of the
church. The pilgrimage is celebrated with mass and later in the day a walk
to the cemetery.

It's a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

And thanks, I will post again as the day comes closer and include
directions.
