Hi;
I might be wrong, but I think St. Bridget's was actually what we now call a
long-term care facility, or then called an "old people's home". St.
Bridget's was exclusively for Irish Catholics. At some point the name was
changed to Father Dowd's which still operates today in the Cote des Neiges
district of Montreal. This year Father Dowd's is celebrating their (I think)
130 year anniversary, including when it was called St. Bridget's. In their
lobby, they have the original hand written (by the nuns) entry information
on each resident back to the very first person up until about 1970, as well
as, a short written history of the institution..
