In May, I posted that I had a painting done by F. McDurmud and received
several helpful suggestions regarding the name.

/In my possession is an oil painting that hung on their wall when my
mother (b. 1915) grew up.

I am trying to locate a relative of F. McDurmid as this painting is
dated 1891. I have searched Great Britain, US and Canada 1880/81
Censuses with no one in an adult age bracket that would be a possible.
The signature is printed clearly F.McDURMID 1891 and is done by a
talented landscape artist in oils.

I would love to find someone that knows of this person or their paintings.>>/

McDermid, McDermott etc were suggestions and in reviewing the microfilm
transcriptions at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~maryc/north99.htm
for Northern Districts of Ontario (Manitoulin, etc) I came across this
marriage entry.

11071-1899 Frank _McDERMOTT_, 33, Clerk, Barrie, Wahnapitae Lake, s/o
Benjamin McDERMOTT & Sarah NEWTON, married Maud *ELLIOT*, 25, Widow,
Madoc, Wahnapitae Lake, d/o Thomas *BURNETT* & Annie BURNETT, Wtn. Mr.
J. McVITTIE, Annie TAYLOR

John Henry Taylor was married to Annie Meredith in Equessing and moved
to (Manitoulin area)Howland, Algoma before the 1901 Census. Annie
Taylor is a witness on this marriage. Annie Taylor is my mother's
grandmother and the painting was in the possession of their daughter so
it makes sense.
I believe this is the artist F. McDurmud/McDermott that painted the picture.

Is there anyone related that can provide information on the painting or
would like more information?

I would like to thank all that responded to my initial request. Your
help is very appreciated.

Gloria
