You didn't mention any time frame, so I took different dates in Lovell's Montreal Directory to look for that surname.

In 1842/43 there are two by that surname:
John Cassidy - Merchant Tailor
Michael Cassidy - Mason

In 1852 there are 5 with that surname:
John Cassidy - Gardener
Francis Cassidy - Advocate
Patrick Cassidy - Shoemaker
Martin Cassidy - Laborer
Mrs. John Cassidy -

In 1862/63 there are 6 with that surname:

John Cassidy - Gardener
Mrs. John Cassidy -
Francis Cassidy - Advocate
John L. Cassidy -
John Cassidy - Carter
John Cassidy - Laborer
Martin Cassidy - Trader
Patrick Cassidy - Saloon

In 1872/73 there are 10

Bernard Cassidy - boilermaker
Francis Cassidy - Advocate/M.P.P.
John Cassidy - Gardener
John L. Cassidy - John L. Cassidy & Co.
John Cassidy -Market Gardener
John Cassidy - Laborer
Martin Cassidy - Grocer
Mrs. Bridget Cassidy - widow of John
Mrs. Catherine Cassidy -
Mrs. Mary Cassidy - widow of John
Mrs. S. Cassidy - widow of John
Patrick Cassidy - Shoemaker

See: http://bibnum2.bnquebec.ca/bna/lovell/index.html
for additional years to 1975.

In searching for your ancestor it might be easier to look for her under her married name and where she was buried.

The 1881 Canada Census can be found at www.familysearch.org

The 1901 and 1911 Census can be found at www.automatedgenealogy.com

Cheers!
