Margaret Clark was born in Miramichi, NB anywhere from 1814 to 1821
varying between censuses, Her father was born in New Brunswick, her
mother in Scotland.
She married Thomas Southwell on 30 October 1834 in St. Paul's Church,
Chatham Parish,
Northumberland County, from St. Paul's Marriage register, entry #33.
Four of their children were more than likely born in NB and baptized there.
Sept 29 1835/July 31 1836 Anna Thomas/Margaret Southwell Nelson Farmer
May 14 1837/Mar 4 1838 James Thomas/Margaret Southwell Nelson Farmer
June 11 1839/Sept 1 1839 Geo. Thomas Thomas/Margaret Southwell Nelson Farmer
Oct 13, 1842/Oct 19, 1842 Thomas-Thomas & Marg.
Southwall-Nelson-Ship Carpenter
Possible brothers for Margaret, names from the 1852 census of Nelson,
Northumberland Parish, NB are:
Abraham, b c1812
Charles, b. c1809
Alexander, b. c1796
The Southwell family left New Brunswick for Whitby, Ontario after the
birth of Thomas in 1842 but before the birth of their daughter,
Martha, about 1846 and I have a fair amount of data from there on
which I'd be happy to share.
I've exhausted every Web source I can find including anything related
to New Brunswick genealogy, everything on Ancestry.ca, checked
"Ditionary of Miramichi Biography, the New Brunswick Genealogical
Society's online "First Families", Sharon M. Dubeau's "New Brunswick
Loyalists, A Bicentennial Tribute" and "Loyalists of New Brunswick" by
Esther Clark Wright. The Miramichi River Genealogy site has been a
great help but is unable to help any further back.
Please help me break down this brick wall. Who were their parents and
siblings? When and where were they born?
Is anyone missing Margaret Clark or Thomas Southwell?
