1838December 8. "m. Factory Village, by Rev. John Black, James Kelly, Esq., Adjutant 1st Battalion, Westmorland Militia / Mary Chapman, widow of Martin Chapman, Esq. and d/o James Sayre, Esq., Sub-collector of H.M. Customs, Dorchester."
I find her in the 1851 census in Moncton, She was 60, widow, living with Mary D. Wortman, widow, 33 and her grandson William Curby 6. All English, all born NB.
Mary Elizabeth Sayre was the daughter of James Sayre, Loyalist and Mary 'Molly' Smith, son of (Rev) James Sayre, Loyalist, & Mary Bowes (whose interesting history can be found on the web).
1879 d. Point de Bute, Westmorland, Mary, age 90, widow of James Kelly and d/o late James Sayre, Esq.
She is buried St Marks Anglican Church Cemetery , Mt. Whatley, Westmorland Parish: Mary E. w/o James Kelley , d/o James Sayre, d. 15 Apr 1879 ae 89 yrs.
No other Kelley or Chapman in this cemetery.
Events thanks to Daniel Johnson.
I am hoping someone can identify James Kelly, Mary D. Worman and the grandson, William ?Kirby.
Cordially,
Jan White
