Thank you indeed for the marriage record. (John D. Wortman seemed to be the only likely candidate for the husband).
The widow Mary Wortman, nee Chapman, born ~1818, could well be the daughter of Mary Sayre and Martin Chapman, who are said to have married ~1817.
The 1851 census shows:
Wortman
Mary D. 33, widow
Mary E. Kelly, 60, widow
William Curby, 6, 'gns',
If 'grandson', must be of Mary E. Kelly, which would link the three together. Is he William Curby Wortman, the one child left at the death of John D. Wortman?
Do the original records still exist?
